Of course I recommend Villa Verde! I am astonished that I have yet to leave a review here. Maybe I was subconsciously gatekeeping this restaurant in Greenville. I know everyone loves Villa Verde. He was from there, but I really don't think this place gets as much recognition as it deserves. It is definitely one of the better or not best restaurants of Greenville. The ambience is quaint and cozy. Service is quick and great. And most importantly, the food is absolutely to die for. Everything. The empanadas - which are a must order when you are there even if you're not hungry - the Cuban sandwich, the steak salad, the more authentic plate selections. I mean, you are just an absolute fool if you don't eat here at least once a week. You can go extremely heart healthy or you can totally much down on comfort food. My favorite is that everything seems like a mix of both. I just love it here so much. Villa Verde is a great place to dine in Greenville. I ordered the Mofongo with Pernil, Rice & Beans, as well as some Maduros. First time I've eaten Dominican food and I loved it. The Mofongo was very good and the Pernil was moist and tender with mild flavor, which I really liked. It also paired well with the rice and super tender and flavorful beans (+$3 for these, but worth it) The Maduros were cooked perfectly and had great flavor. We'll definitely be back for more. Dominican food is not spicy, so if you want spice, you may need to BYO. read more

Went here late after a game, we started with ceviche which was so fresh, I got the whole snapper which was phenomenal, my dad got the seafood paella which was also delicious and my mom got some stew with potatoes, plantains, and meat, that was so yummy and made great leftovers! The best part was my moms drink which was red on the top half and tallow on the bottom half and had a cinnamon stick on top (forget the name), it was one of the best drinks I have ever had! Two words: Trifungo with Pernil (okay, technically 3 words..lol). It is my new food addiction. It is the perfect dish, particularly when complimented by their flavorful homemade Dominican sauce (which I wish they would sell by the bottle). I also highly recommend the beef empanadas which are super tasty. The service is great too. Always prompt, courteous, and helpful...whether you are dining in or getting takeout. I've never gotten an order that was anything other than correctly executed and amazing. And that's high praise from me as I have a lot of dietary restrictions. I don't typically drink due to my food issues, but my friends say that you can anticipate a generous pour if you do partake. If you're over around ECU I definitely recommend their 10th Street location. The Arlington Blvd location near the hospital is great too, but is more like the Chipotle version with a scaled down, but equally tasty, menu and earlier hours, serving breakfast and lunch (Sadly, no Trifungo there...but the same pernil and some pretty awesome roasted chicken). First and foremost I would like to thank the server for making our drinks they were delicious but my wife said her drink didn't taste like liquor but sweet which is okay but for a $12 cocktail I would like a little more liquor. The place was empty, if the weather wasn't as cold today Id would of sat out outside, we order the Dominican nachos as appetizers, the cheese to meat ratio was way off. The nachos didn't felt fresh, the cheese was covering 90% of everything making it too cheesy and hard to eat, the veggies on it was good but there was little meat compared to the amount of cheese they put on there. For entrees I ordered the mofongo with churrasco and the mofongo was the base for the churrasco to lay on top so it was a thick base which wasn't cooked all the way through sadly, the churrasco was good just needed a bit more seasoning the rice and beans was solid, my wife ordered the ropa vieja and she felt like it could've used more seasoning but she said her rice was good too just need a generous amount of seasoning for both dishes Overall a 7/10 or 3.4 Stars. Good Dominican food found right here in Greenville, North Carolina. This place has a great layout with plenty of space to dine, indoors and outdoors. Their beautiful dining area is a must try, nice big tables to fill with food. A nice bar room as you make your way in is very inviting before moving on to dinner. For the food itself, the Dominican dish I had was so flavorful and it just roll off the tongue and all the smells of traditional Dominican food brought back memories of when I was in Dominican Republic. The Churrasco Skirt Steak is marinated in pineapple juice and cilantro for ultimate flavor. Served with a garnish avocado salad and I added a side of fried plantains. The blend of spices was excellent. Very generous portions served at every meal is a Dominican standard and it was good to see that was a trend here. They might be a little more expensive than your Latin American restaurant but very worth it. Villa Verde is a great place to have dinner and bring the family, even large groups. The weekend my girlfriend and I came here, this restaurant was full. Seeing how this restaurant become busy on weekends, I think families or someone that does curb side take out should add this place on their list. I love small local restaurants with personality!!! This one is a HIT. The service was very pleasant. I went on a Thursday around 3pm. It was not very busy, only about 3 tables. COVID-19 precautions were well in place. The FOOD: DELICIOUS. We ordered the grouper bites that my 3 year old LOVED, Chicken taco kids meal, seafood paella and the RED SNAPPER. I added the homemade hot sauce and house sauce on the paella, the plantains were perfect! BUT, nothing can top the snapper. It was cooked to perfection with the most AMAZING sauce on top. We went on Halloween night. The restaurant was not as busy. I was a little worry that the food was not going to be as fresh since was closer to 7:50pm. Just based on previous experiences with other restaurants. I am glad this was not the case here in Villa Verde. The main course meals were fresh! Which made everyone in my family happy!! The service was excellent! I believe our waiters name was Karen. She wore a mask at all times. Knew the menu and you could tell she strives to built relationships with everyone that eats here.
