DL Cerney was doing MAD MEN before MAD MEN became a word in our cultural lexicon. He is the designer, tailor, and storefront keeper of this little boutique. All are creations by the man himself - DL Cerney. Store sells MEN and WOMEN'S CLOTHING. Vintage-inspired w/ a modern twist. Sumptuous fabrics and well-made. Stitching and tailoring is impeccable. Yes, I bought a $350 dress. But it FITS like a glove and he tailored it to my length. If you want an outfit that exudes "classic" and commands a look that instantly recalls a time when men were gentlemen by escorting a lady by walking on the outside, between her and the street, of the sidewalk; and women were ladies in white gloves and pearls, then I strongly suggest you spend your $200 here and NOT at Neiman Marcus, Saks 5th Ave, and Bloomingdale's. DL Cerney doesn't oversell the products, either. He lets the clothes "speak" for themselves. The next time I'm in NYC and if I have the $$$, I'll certainly go back. I was a fan of DL Cerney in their previous incarnation, and couldn't have been more delighted when they reopened. Their high quality and vintage-inspired styles are seriously as good as it gets, and their service is personal and genuine. My closet is filled with their dresses, blouses, skirts, and trousers, and they are the kind of clothes that look amazing and will last forever. They're not cheap by any means, but the quality makes them a bargain at the price. Duane and Linda are lovely people, who really enjoy finding just the right items for their customers. I got a gorgeous dress here that fit like a glove. All his dresses I think are cotton. He has several designs many with a vintage vibe. I didn't immediately gravitate to the prints but when I tried it on and it fit so well it was a must have. I'd like to see him also branch out in some of his prints. I love my swing coat from D L Cerney. I stumbled on the shop when I needed directions to a nearby theater. The gentleman was very kind, patiently providing me the directions I needed. Looking around, I loved everything. Natural fibers and classic designs. It was expensive for me, but I bought the swing coat and have enjoyed it for two years now. I always receive compliments on it. Beautiful, classic (comfortable!) pieces that are well made and well worth the price. The dress I bought fits like it was tailored just for me. I get compliments on it whenever I wear it, and it's versatile enough to wear to the market with sandals or out for cocktails with dressed up accessories. In my view this is the best clothing shop in Manhattan. My closet is filled with their shirts and dresses and I get major compliments no matter what I wear from DL Cerney.
