I discovered this place when i was in Richmond for school. from the outside they used to not have…read moreany real discernable signage, but they have more recently put up a big sign that says "Gusti Restaurant Equipment", which makes it really easy to spot. this is a family owned place, and if you've read my other reviews, i love these successful, personable places who really give the impression they appreciate your business. This place has been super nice to me while i've wandered through their shelves to help stock my kitchen. I like their selection of all kinds of restaurant-grade supplies. They also have some unique items in their "used" items. if you want some dirt cheap cheesey coffee mugs or those clear frosted salad places, this is the place to find them. It appears these are bought from restaurants that are closing and resold at a fraction of the original price. I've been there several times over the past 5 years, and everytime, they seem to recognize me - not necessarily by name, but they know i shop there. These kinds of family owned businesses serve as the model for other businesses in how they treat customers, even the once-in-a-while customer like me.

Smallwares and small equipment is what most of their inventory is and they really have a nice well rounded selection. The owner is good guy and his son works there too. both a nice and know what they talking about, without spouting off at the mouth and wasting my time. Not the largest selection of large equipment but they would order you whatever you needed. I didn't need any heavy equipment, but If I did I would go to see Mike at Atlantis. Gusti's is my first stop for smallwares, misc. items, etc.

Restaurant Depot in Virginia Beach is absolutely worth the trip. From what I understand, businesses…read morewith an LLC and food license get the best pricing, but regular shoppers can still buy there too, just at a higher cost. Either way, this place is a goldmine if you cook in bulk, run food service, or just love having access to serious restaurant-grade supplies. They have just about everything you could want related to food, cooking, storage, prep, and restaurant operations. Meat, produce, dairy, dry goods, seasonings, containers, equipment, supplies, and all kinds of hard-to-find bulk items. It is basically a wonderland for anyone who loves food or runs a kitchen. Fair warning: bring a jacket. A huge part of the building is basically one giant walk-in fridge, and it gets cold fast. The outside looks a little rough and dumpy, but do not let that fool you. Inside, it is packed with food delights and all things restaurant. If you know what you are looking for, or even if you just want to explore, this place is fantastic.

The woman at the front desk informed us that anyone under 18 is not allowed, but the way she communicated this was extremely rude, dismissive, and showed absolutely no compassion for our situation. We understand that businesses have policies, but there is a respectful and professional way to communicate them--especially when speaking to a family caring for a disabled child who cannot simply be left somewhere else. The front desk staff seriously needs training in customer service, communication, empathy, and how to appropriately interact with families of individuals with disabilities. What made the interaction even more upsetting was the lack of basic understanding or willingness to communicate respectfully. Everyone deserves to be treated with dignity and respect regardless of their race, disability, or circumstances. I hope management addresses how their front desk staff speaks to customers because the way we were treated today was unacceptable.
