Very helpful staff. Especially Mark! We were not ready for our appliances and they were willing to hold them for 3months

Wooden Sun cleaned electrical junction switches, including wall switch and told me the fireplace was igniting consistently. Was told that further problems might indicate a failing valve...whatever that is. Wooden Sun told me the den fireplace was not generating sufficient millivoltage to light the burner. They cleaned this one too, but said the mill voltage was still low and would recommend replacing the pilot assembly as first step and to replace valve as suggested for living room fireplace. I agreed to replacing pilot light assemblies for both fireplaces. But was told they didn't have parts with them in their truck and would have to return. The service call fee was $165 and Wooden Sun advised me that second service call to bring parts they didn't have with them would be an additional $165 service call fee. I objected to paying for two service fees. I was to that pilot light assembly cost would be $400 each plus service fee of $165 plus labor. The afternoon of their service call both fireplaces stopped working and would not ignite after repeated attempts. I called Tiger Fuel after Wooden Sun would not return to correct their failure to perform and service for my two fireplaces. Tiger fuel replaced pilot light assemblies in both fireplaces for under $200 each, and the fireplaces have ignited consistently since without issue. I would not recommend Wooden Sun as a service repair for gas fireplaces.

When we walked in, we were immediately greeted and asked if we were looking for something in particular. We were then efficiently walked over to the aisle housing screwdrivers and told about the different options. They were locked in a case, so we would've needed a staff member's help anyway. Apparently people like to steal screwdrivers, which I never would've guessed. Prices seemed fair, but to be transparent, I don't generally buy tools so I don't really know the going rates. Check out was just as efficient with a couple lines in operation. And the cashier was just as friendly as the staff member working the floor. Everyone was properly masked and social distancing was taking place as well. I would suggest supporting this small business and those like it prior to going to the big box stores.

I've never been interested in plants before quarantine, so everything was new to me. With all of this cooking I've been doing, I thought it would be nice to have fresh herbs at the ready, so off we went. This is the definition of a quaint, local hardware store. There is everything you could need for your home projects plus a little extra, but not much extra. The store is much less overwhelming than the big box hardware stores and the employees were SO helpful. I really enjoyed my experience there, which I never thought I'd say about a hardware store. I also enrolled in their loyalty program and got $5 off my purchase today. Score! Thank you, Pleasants, for providing the community with lawn, garden, and hardware needs for decades and still being a pleasant place to shop!

When I was able to make an appointment, the plumber never came. No call to reschedule and when I called to get a new appointment they didn't answer. These people are total and complete crooks. DO NOT USE THEM…read more (Long review below that details how they tried to rip me off.) I have two gas fireplaces in my new house. VA Propane said there was a small leak in the line and that I should call this company to fix. Called and promptly received an attitude from the woman at the office. Was told it would be $90 a fireplace for them to service & find the leak. Tech came out. Leak was found and fixed easily. Paid $700 for them to clean/service both fireplaces and come out twice. The tech told me the woman at the office didn't know what she was talking about and that I would be paying $250 a fireplace (which was a discount, because normally they charged around $500 a fireplace). I was then told that one of my fireplaces needed a new part - maybe two - they were not sure - and that each part would cost around $450 (if not more) to replace. (THIS WAS A TOTAL LIE - another company told me these parts cost under 300 and under 100 each - so max total would have been UNDER $400 to fix - not $900). Waited on office person to call back. She left a voicemail that stated that they were unable to get new parts for my (9 year old) Empire system because they were no longer making them. THIS WAS ANOTHER TOTAL LIE. I was told I needed a new system entirely, and to call back for the price. When I called back, the owner answered and told me that they could give me a new system for $1965. I asked why they could not replace the parts of mine, and he said they would "have to order them from Empire" and he was not sure if the new parts would even fix the issue. (I guess he was not aware of my being told they no longer made the parts, which they do). I asked him why it would be $2000 for a new system, when I was told (by the tech) that the system I had was top of the line at $1200. He seemed a bit irritated by my question and didn't know how to answer. So, I went with another company - Gas Fireplace Service of Richmond (804-350-4214). They came out and looked at both of my fireplaces and told me that I needed NOTHING! The electrical connections were a little loose and they adjusted the controls and VOILA! Grand total was $175!!! If you want to be COMPLETELY RIPPED OFF, then go with Guirkin!
