I went in for a quick 5 minute consultation and they wouldn't even look at my hair. Instead they told me to give them my number and that a hair stylist would get back to me. I ended up getting a text a few days later. I told her what I wanted and she never replied. I've sent a few other texts and still no answer. It's been about a week and a half since i've texted them. I tried getting my hair done here a couple months ago too and they never text me back. They don't show that they care about their customers or are selective in who they decide to do business with. Ashleigh is THEEEE absolute best!! I went in for a cut last week (8/17) I knew I was going to have to cut a good bit off because my ends looked so sad and dry and Ashleigh broke the hard news to me. I'd have to cut a couple inches off :( For a lot of us our inches are EVERYTHING but she took the time to educate me on why it was important to cut the damage off and work on a better hair care routine. I have to say that I'm very surprised by the two negative responses for the stylist Andrea. I want to warn people that in the hospitality and services business people are statistically more likely to remember and take the time to write a terrible review than they are to write a good one. It's sad that an honest and hard worker, who knows and does her job well, would get berated by a few "Karen's" who didn't get their way. Sad that good people do not get the kudos due to them. As for my experience, I wish there was more time and more words to describe my experience with Andrea. Andrea is a straight shooter who doesn't beat around the bush and is always up front about everything. If a color will not work she will be truthful. She makes awesome recommendations and she really knows her stuff! She does not rush through her processes and she really tries to please her clients by giving them what they want while trying to still maintain her integrity as a professional and skilled stylist. Meaning- she doesn't just color and style people's hair without first explaining the do's and don't's and she will not shy away from pointing out a bad idea if she thinks it will damage your hair. She is kind and always professional. Andrea goes with the flow and allows the client to dictate the mood, if you want to chat or sit quietly, she accommodates vibes. She is always very courteous and attentive. She always asks if I'm ok and if I need water. One time I injured my tailbone snowboarding and she was so concerned and went the extra mile to make sure I was comfortable in the chair and made sure I didn't sit for too long. I believe that communication is key in these situations and most likely the 2 awful reviews on here against Andrea were due to lack Of communication or possibly bias. I think Andrea is probably the best stylist I've ever had in my 40 years of life and I highly recommend her. She is skilled, very stylish, knows the trends, very honest, and super attentive. My hair had never been dyed before so she explained the whole process to me and told me what would be a reasonable outcome to expect given the darkness of my hair. She only lifts the color of your natural hair to what it can handle, and gives you the closest possible look to what you're looking for. She also gave me a detailed cost breakdown, which I really appreciated, and also included the price of the haircut which is super nice! I had my hair transformed by Marienette and her assistant Violet, and they did an absolutely amazing job. My hair was last done 10 months ago as an ashy gray/blonde balayage ombre. Fast forward 10 months later, all the gray had faded into blonde and my hair was in dire need of a retouch. I used to live in south OC and had my hair done in Westminster, but have since moved and was looking for a salon in the IE. I chose D Salon and Marienette based on reviews and from the recommendations of mutual friends. Prices for lightening start at $185, which includes 2 bowls of hair dye, cut and style. Each extra bowl used is an additional $15 and an additional $75 if you want to use Olaplex (an amazing product that prevents further damage from lightening your hair). The entire process took about 5.5 hours with the lightening, Olaplex treatment, cut and style and the end result was gorgeous. Marienette is talented at what she does and I was very happy with the result. The only reason I'm knocking off a star is basically the price, which is not under her control. When I had my hair done by my stylist in Westminster, my hair was about 4-5 inches longer AND thicker (I lost a lot of hair after delivering my baby and nursing afterwards). The quality of work was just as good as Marienette's and also included cut and style, as well as a Brazilian blowout treatment or Olaplex, but I was charged a total of just $220 pre-tip. With my shorter and thinner hair at D Salon, the price tag was $290 pre-tip. It was a bit of a sticker shock, to say the least. Not that I don't think her work is worth it... I was just expecting something closer to $250-$260. Basically, if you do not have the luxury to drive to Westminster to have your hair done (1-2 hours of traffic from Riverside each way), I highly recommend Marienette at D Salon for your ashy balayage ombres and other hair dyeing and styling needs. Olaplex is a must for this type of procedure, which is why the extra $75 feels a bit mandatory. Just be prepared to pay a bit more than you anticipated for having it done in Riverside. My hair is gorgeous though, I cannot stress that enough. There was minimal damage done to it, even though I have naturally dark brown hair and went almost platinum. My ashy blonde gray is still perfect and my hair feels velvety smooth. Marienette is definitely the best in IE! read more
