I took the ANJ Transit train…read morefrom Manhattan to the Airtrain, only to find that the Airtrain was not running and the shuttle bus was not functioning well yet either, with an impossibly long line of unhappy travelers. So I backtracked one stop to Newark, and decided to take a chance and grab a haircut. The vibe of this place is great. The Barbers seemed to mostly speak Spanish, and it had a positive energy. I didn't need to wait at all (there were 4 or 5 barbers working), and my barber got started right away. He took his time and gave me a great cut, with a straight razor around the edges. The price ($20) was more than fair. And, I was able to catch a city bus to the airport just down the street without problem (you can pay with a card on the NJ Transit app). Thanks for the great cut!

Seeing a 4.8* review, I called them to ask if they accept credit cards, today (Saturday, 2/25). The…read moreperson on the phone said they do. Then I asked what is the rate, they said $15 for a regular men's hair cut. With the assurance, I went to the shop. The organization and cleanliness of the place reminded me of barbershops in India where I would pay 50 cents for a hair cut. The place was reeking of ammonia and their were small clusters of hair around, as I entered the person who would cut my hair used a big piece of covering cloth to blow off all the hair on the chair, sending hairs in all direction. However, he was very nice and gave me a good hair cut. During the process, I could not see my hair even once as there were obstructions between the mirrors and chairs due to poor organization. I also noticed that there were two different prices for hair cut $12 for a rush hour hair cut and $15 for a regular. So, I assumed that $12 was for a weekday hair cut. After the professional was done with my hair, I presented my credit card only to be told that they only accept cash. Minor inconvenience. I ran to the nearest ATM and got cash. I asked the barber the cost and was told $20. I did not ask any further questions and paid up the sum and left. As I left the shop I realized that even if I willingly paid 20% tip the cost should have come out to $18 and NOT $20. To sum up: Pros: Close to my university and I was satisfied with my hair cut. Cons: Not clean. Not organized. Credit Card Policy not clear. DISHONEST!Di
