Service is outstanding and the food is excellent and an excellent beverage section with alcohol or without...Great shakes!

My wife and I live in Marinal Vallarta and finally stopped in to this restaurant to watch a Thursday night NFL game. Positives: There were many medium sized TVs for watching football & other sporting events. The menu was large and varied for what appeared to be a burger joint from the outside. The chicken fajitas, chicken wings and mashed potatoes were very tasty, and the servers were fast and friendly. Negative: The men who hawk the place and greet potential customers were actually rather unpleasant when we entered (e.g., no buenas noches, no thank you for coming, etc.). This was surprising given that part of their job is to entice people into the establishment and make the initial interaction hospitable and friendly. The food was rather Americanized - bland with little spice, and could have come from Applebees. And, it was the only place we saw a significant number of obese Americans. If you long for Applebees, TGIF, Chilis, etc., you will enjoy D'Z Route 66. read more

I'd like to add to my review last year. We've moved to the Marina and shortly afterwards I aspirated. It went into triple pneumonia. During this long healing process, Route 66 has been stall worth in serving Gary immediately , making sure the to go orders are correct, and for their chili (for which I will share a restaurant quick recipe without the grease! ) their food is delish. While strolling through the Marina, my husband and I spotted the Happy Hour sign at D'z Route 66 Diner and decided to stop in for a beer. That one beer quickly turned into three each, and we found ourselves really enjoying the atmosphere. Although we weren't hungry when we arrived, after a few drinks, we decided to get a snack and tried the hot chicken wings. They were tasty, though a bit on the salty side. Despite that, we ended up eating them all. Overall, it was a fun and enjoyable visit. We'll definitely consider stopping by again when we're in the area. Christian was our server. Only gave it a 4 out of 5 only because there was a small mishap from the kitchen. The food was pretty good. We had a chocolate shake, root beer float, bacon cheeseburger and beef and egg skillet. My fiancé didn't care for his, but he's on a no carb diet so he asked for no hash brown or bread and it was only meat and eggs. My cheeseburger was good, but not for 210 pesos. Maybe $150 or so. ‍ The wait staff was great. read more

If I could give this place 7 stars I would. So informal, relaxed, great food and a show once in awhile! Happy hour 2-1 margaritas and more. Food was exceptional! Be careful here, very deceptive people working here. Told us 2x1 margaritas and charged us for both. Cute place, but I hear the food is trash too from the locals. Not only did I get charged for both, but I'm pretty sure there was ZERO tequila in my margarita. Thanks for the $300 peso strawberry slush! Never even if I was dying for food or a drink. Stay away from this place. This is the ONLY restaurant that I have never left a tip in my life, and I don't feel bad at all! I'd bet lots of money by the time I purchase a place to live here, this hell hole will be out of business. read more

Love this place. Food always consistently good tasting and made as in USA or better. My husband loves the skinny lettuce wrapped grilled shrimp tacos ( huge) I've had their burger and grilled hot dog plate. ($125 Mx) All come with air fried fries no grease and the bakery buns taste so fresh you know made this morning. Service is spot on, Samil is so attentive and always gives our doggie fresh water under the table. You will Not be disappointed to come here for your American food fix!! Absolutely no to this restaurant unless all other restaurants are closed and you are starving. The reasons are, the seafood tasted like frozen seafood is microwaved with hot sauce spread, vegetables were same frozen and microwaved. It was smelling little odd. Overall the live music was nice. After 10 days of mostly Mexican food (which is great!!) we wanted a good homemade burger and fries (none of this fast-food stuff). D'Z Route 66 was recommended, and it came through in a big way. A classic bacon and cheeseburger done right, it doesn't get any better than that! We tried a side of gravy (to dip the fries in) and it was very flavourful. We added delicious milk shakes to complete the meal. We're here for a month so will be returning before we head out. Restaurant was clean, service was attentive, and staff were friendly. I had the opposite experience of previous patrons on here. The grilled shrimp tacos were fantastic. 160 pesos for a meal that two can share with an amber ale included. Muy Bueno! Grilled to perfection while spicy mayo and slaw were on target. The fries were crispy and hot...the ale was cold and stout. Ambience is relaxing. This may be considered the equivalent of fast food, however, it's worth a stop-by if you are visiting the Marina in PV. Staff was gracious and friendly as well. read more

Great food, spotty service, bad management When bringing our drinks, the waitress tipped the tray, broke the glass and drenched me and my husband in beer and pina colada. After sitting through dinner wet, we were insulted by the bill. The manager was rude and only offered to reduce the bill for my entree. We hadn't ordered anything we didn't intend to order anyway. She argued with me and we ended up walking out. Not very fun to wash our clothing in the hotel sink. read more

We have always liked coming here in the past, but wasn't real impressed with the food this time. I ordered a hamburger with chili. It was a very well done hamburger over bread and the chili was like pieces of hamburger with not flavor of chili and no beans. It came out cold. I asked them to heat it, but it was still dry and flavorless. I had the corn soup which was ok. My husband's ribs were on the dry side and the corn on the cob looked soggy. The malt tasted good but was runny/melted with chunks of ice cream. It's a fun and cute place with a lot of selections. Just needs some improvements with the items we had anyway. read more

Very Americanized and unhealthy. I guess if you end up living in Mexico and you miss the US, you would come here. It's sort of like Mel's. It's in a part of town that reminds me of San Jose, CA. Bit sterile for me, it's definitely cleaner compared to other parts of the town. read more

The food is so bad and I did get my first taste of food poisoning from this place after eating the shrimp, or was it the salad, or was it the ice?? Beware!! My wife got a ravaging case of food poisoning from this place (update: the doc said e.coli....so, even worse!!!). I read a few other reviews and others have called them out for cleanliness issues and causing food poisoning. Of course, we didn't read these until now. And now....I am sitting here in the emergency room with my wife who is going to have to stay here overnight because of this thing. We're missing our flight because of it. Reviews of not, I should've listened to my intuition last night because it told me the moment I stepped foot in this place last night, this was going to happen. My daughter got a club sandwich. It was shi$&@t!! How do you eff up a club sandwich? Well, they did. I got the fish sandwich. It was served on a hot dog bun and the "mahi mahi" was dried out. And my wife got a chili dog, which shocked the hell outta me, and wouldn't have been my first choice in. PV, but alas, that is what she got. Well, I guess I should say she didn't get a chili dog, she was served a plate full of bacteria-infested shi$&@t that gave her a 104 degree fever as her body spewed (we'll call them....) "liquids" out of every possible exit point except for maybe her ears. Very, very sorry to be so graphic, but I'm merely trying to stress that anyone reading this and considering this shi$&@thole for breakfast, lunch or dinner....just walk on by. Give them the middle-finger as you do, because they obviously don't care about their patrons. You, me...or the next family. Went to this restaurant with family for quick dinner. Should've known we would get sick as it looked pretty dirty. Led to my young son having a bit of "choros " if you catch my drift. Next day walking past my 4yo son had to have a wee and the restaurant told him no, "you're not in America anymore, only for customers". May not be the Mexican food, but the food was very good. Reasonably priced, great portions. Wait staff were very entertaining. Order the homemade root beer, you can't go wrong there. read more
