My family and I dined here recently and were deeply disappointed by the treatment we received. We were the only Black patrons in the restaurant that evening, and it became clear over the course of the meal that we were being treated differently from every other table. We were served last, consistently, even when tables seated after us received their food first. It came to a head with dessert: we ordered the tiramisu, and watched every other table around us receive it beautifully plated in a glass, clearly a signature presentation. Ours arrived burnt and carelessly thrown onto a plate. When we asked our server what the other tables were having, he named the same dessert we'd ordered. When we asked why ours looked nothing like it, he had no real answer. The food itself may be fine on a normal night, but we can't recommend a restaurant where we felt singled out and treated as lesser guests based on how we looked. Diners deserve to be treated with the same care and respect regardless of who they are. read more

We met up with the restaurant van driver at our hotel and he agreed to transport us to the restaurant free of charge, even though we hadn't made reservations. The driver was hilarious and we enjoyed listening to him give an earful to a woman that thought she owned the mountain road we were supposed to be sharing. (Really, he was one of the major highlights of our trip!) The pizza margherita was delicious and there was a beautiful view--see photos. Prices reasonable. Wonderful experience for dinner at Da Costantino! For starters, they are located at one of the high points in Positano and have free shuttle service from your hotel to the restaurant. Michael was our driver and he was so kind and accommodating. Once we arrived, we were seated next to the windows where the view of Positano is simply breathtaking. Now for the food: everything came out super hot and fresh. Our favorite dish hands down was the Manicaretto fatto in casa. Something about the handmade pasta with ricotta and mozzarella made this dish unforgettable. We finished the night off with the lemon cake and the ricotta cheesecake. Delicious! The house red wine was also tasty and the service was great. This is day 2 of our 9 day stay...I hope we have time to visit again before we leave. read more

I had the Scialatielli all Constantino - pasta with fried eggplant, tomatoes and mozzarella, and it was delicious. My husband had the Diavolo pizza w/ spicy salami - very good, the wood-fired crust was delicious. And my daughter had the gnocchi alla Sorrentino w/ tomato sauce and mozzarella; she doesn't usually like gnocchi back home, but was a fan of this one! Da Costantino operates a free shuttle service delivering people from their hotels to the restaurant and back again. I had visions of an off-the-beaten-path gem of a restaurant, perhaps a real under-the-radar locals place. What was I thinking? This is (almost) high-season Poistano. Shuttle service is prompt both to and from Da Costantino. A couple from Arkansas was already in the van when I got in. Another couple, this time from Michigan, was picked up along the way. (Positano tourism, I learned, is about 80% American). We arrived at the large restaurant, high up on a hillside, with gorgeous water views but none of the vibe I was expecting. The greeting and service were perfunctory at best; the food good but unremarkable for someone who just left Naples. The couple from Michigan had said that a friend had raved about the place, insisting they go there but when all of us got back in the van we'd each reached the same conclusion. Nobody was raving about the place or their meal. I thought how different the experience might have been had the staff exuded any sort of warm and welcoming hospitality but they hadn't. It was apparent that the pasta here is homemade and that alone proved compelling. The linguine had a chewy freshness different from all of the other (also good) linguine I sampled. Good food, efficient shuttle, great views but Da Costantino is churning tourists through the doors and seems to have forgotten that a warm welcome and friendly service is something that is necessary to turn a dining experience from run-of-the-mill into memorable. read more

Seriously one of the best if not the best, certainly for taste I think I might have ever had, and I eat a lot of pizza... I had the lemon parmesan fish, it was very tasty and coped just right. Crsut was maybe a little rough but I'm being nit picky. The marinara pizza had a lovely garlicy tomato sauce that was perfectly sweet... Really nice... It's not so easy to make that pizza well. Our tour guide Alisansro took us here, he said it was the BEST view with GREAT food in Positano. It's a bit up the mountain but it's def worth the drive up!! We were able to procure a window seat with the best view! (see pics). The food.... the bruschetta... the bread.. the wine... was SO GOOD! We had sardines, bruschetta and I had the homemade pasta with seafood platter. It was SO friggin tasty, you can literally taste the tomatoes and the wine in the sauce and the mussels and clams. Thankfully they have a free shuttle, because last night it started to absolutely downpour on the way to the restaurant. We made reservations earlier in the day and arranged the pickup. My wife and I split the scialatielli alla costantino as a primi and then got our own Secondi. I got a bistecca alla griglia and she got a filetto di pesce gratinato. Both were delicious. The food was a 4, maybe even a 5. Everything was freshly made, flavorful, and absolutely delicious. We requested a window seat, and the views of Positano were incredible. Service at the actual restaurant was friendly, prompt, and attentive. So why only 3 stars? I generally don't heavily weigh service into my rating, as I mainly care about the quality and taste of what I'm eating. But what happened to us was so distasteful and unprofessional that I can not let it slide. First off, they provide an email address for bookings on their website but did not respond to any of my emails to a) make a reservation and then b) later on, confirm my reservation and pick up location. Everything was handled verbally, which is a pretty convenient excuse for them when issues arise. From my first conversation with them when I made the reservation and from reading other reviews, I had understood that they provide a complimentary shuttle service to and from their restaurant. You can't walk there since it's in the cliffs. I was told to call back closer to the reservation to confirm my pick up location. I did just that and was happily surprised to hear that they would pick us up in Positano and drop us off at our hotel in Praiano. This was a very nice offer. I had been under the impression that they only did pick ups and drop offs in Positano, so I asked for clarification and repeated back what the woman was saying to me on the phone to make sure there was no confusion. The day of our booking, our hotel called them to arrange our transportation. We had no issues getting there. Our driver was waiting for us at the bus stop in Positano and took us straight to Da Costantino. On the way back, however, our driver dropped us off in Positano, not Praiano. He did not speak English, so we called the restaurant to see if we could sort out the miscommunication. My husband very politely explained the situation and the conversation I had had about our drop off location. The woman told him that she remembered speaking to me, and that I was mistaken. She also tried to drag our hotel into the mess by stating that the hotel did not mention anything about a Praiano drop off. She completely ignored the fact that I independently had made drop off arrangements with them to my hotel a week prior. In retrospect, they told me what they thought I wanted to hear to get us in the door. That wasn't necessary because I would have come regardless of their shuttle service and had initially planned to be dropped off in Positano. This rudeness left a very sour taste in my mouth. I would recommend eating here with the caveat that they are super shady and you should not rely on them for transportation. read more

Great little restaurant up the hill and away from the busy main beach. But yet it still manages to draw a crowd because the food was really good. If you can get a table by the open windows you will get an amazing view of Positano. They serve typical Italian fare with a focus on seafood and Neopolitan style pizzas. Service was friendly and it felt more like a locals place than a super touristy place you'd find closer to the beach. As a side note, you can call for reservations and in the busy summer season the lady will tell you they fully booked. BUT come in close to when they open for dinner and they will usually accommodate you. I noticed that the premium tables by the windows were held for reservations. read more

5 years after we came here, we still talk about Da Costantino. It began with comical experience of one of their staff members picking us up from our hotel only to become our server minutes later. Only in Italy. The food here is outstanding. Casual yet high quality. We couldn't get over the meatballs and we still talk about them to this day. They're the best meatballs we've ever had. When we asked our server "why are these meatballs so incredibly good??" His only response was "mama makes the meatballs". And that she does- the sweet and talented nonna came out at the end of our meal to thank us for our appreciation of her food. And then at the end the server drove us back to our hotel. Why 5 stars? Because this was my favorite meal during our two weeks in Europe. --- --- --- And forget just those two weeks - this was a Top 10 dining experience of my life. Before we even arrived at the restaurant, I called to see if they had any tables available. This was only a few hours before dinner service, so they did not have anything near the window, but they did have tables available. The restaurant is very far up the mountain in Positano, so they offered a shuttle to pick us up at our hotel. That was such a nice touch, because we had no idea how high up the restaurant was. We definitely would have hated our lives if we had attempted to walk it. At the exact time we requested, a van was outside our hotel and ready to take us there! The reason that they specified that a window seat was not available, is because the view out the window at this restaurant is absolutely stunning and breath taking. Even from our vantage point, about 20 feet away from the the window, it was quite lovely. As for the food... my God. Granted, this was my first dinner in Italy of my entire life, but I think it definitely ended up being the best. We ordered prosciutto and mozzarella here as an appetizer, and we loved it so much that we ended up being ordering at dinner in Italy afterward. Prosciutto + Mozzarella + Oil + Vinegar. Simple enough, but so damn delicious. I ordered Frutti di Mare as my appetizer and it was everything I'd dreamed Italian food in Italy to be. The pasta was thick with a body do it and the accompanying seafood was wonderful. The whole thing was perfect-o. Every bite, I couldn't help but look at my wife like I'd just won the lottery. Then dessert came. We ordered a lemon pie, and I'll admit that I wasn't that excited about it. I'm not a huge lemon fan, but the server insisted, and she was absolutely correct. It was so creamy and smooth! I let her know that she was smarter than me, and that we loved it. It turns out brown-nosing works, because the next thing I know, she brought us a slice of ricotta pear pie, on the house. I have to tell you guys, it was absolutely epic. If I ever see a ricotta pear pie for the rest of my life, I'll know that it will never be as good as the first experience, but I will definitely be ordering it! It turned out that the server was the daughter of the chef of said pie. I told her that I had to personally thank her mom for changing my life, and I got the chance on my way out, as her mom had come out of the kitchen for a moment. Turns out - mom didn't speak very much english, but her daughter translated my praises :) Lastly, we just ordered a house white wine, and it may have been the best wine I've ever had. Again, maybe it was just my first Italian house wine, but I was in heaven. Because of this experience, we ordered house white every night for the rest of our time! Obviously, Da Constantino was very influential on the remainder of our Italian adventure! It's almost worth going all the way to Positano, just for this experience. If you are in Positano and reading this review, stop what you're doing and make a reservation. read more
