Drew Green is the kind of contractor who confidently tells you the wrong information and then blames you when things go wrong. He repeatedly made things up to justify his own mistakes. His crew was clearly untrained to do the work he sold us, and then he ghosted us after making our bathrooms WORSE than when they began. He said they'd be back "next week" but we haven't heard back from him in over 6 weeks and have to find a replacement contractor now. We wanted to like DA, but the deep carelessness of both Drew & his crew made the whole process miserable. He holds the warranty for our HOA's roof, so he gets a lot of business here and has a lot on the line with his reputation. We hired him for an initial $6k trial project to make sure we worked well together; there was another $12k on the line if he did halfway-reasonable work, yet he completely phoned it in over and over. Short list of specifics: - Drew regularly ignored text messages for weeks and failed to provide basic information that we asked for, even after reminders. - When the crew showed up, they did less than half the work that was on the invoice, then told us they were done with it ALL and left without letting us inspect the attic. They "finished" a scheduled 2-day project after around 4 total hours of work (which would have made the project cost $500/hour/person). I made them come back for the second day of work and they redid nearly everything. - Drew promised 10-14" of cellulose attic insulation, but we ended up getting cheaper fiberglass in hit-or-miss piles as low as 4". - I asked why they blew fiberglass instead of cellulose; he told me the ceilings "couldn't handle cellulose." I asked why he originally promised cellulose in that case; he said he "must have meant fiberglass" and that it's "comparable." But it's not comparable; it's completely different and has numerous downsides that we were specifically trying to avoid. Our HOA manager later confirmed that cellulose was a fine choice and that Drew could have used it. - We wanted to upgrade our rusty old bathroom fans that rattle and make noise, but the new fans he picked off the shelf (without any of our input whatsoever because he couldn't be bothered to ask) are even louder than before. They emit 94 decibels, which is as loud as a lawn mower (and louder than a vacuum cleaner); running these fans for more than 1 hour would literally be a NIOSH violation. - Drew argued that the fans were acceptable and were "in the contract" even though he never even asked us what fans we wanted (and the contract didn't specify a fan). Then after he left, the crew said "wow, it is a loud fan" when they thought we couldn't hear. - We weren't quoted for the cost of the building permit which turned out to be an extra $200+ surprise. His controller Jane was the only good part about the process; she was competent and responsive, so at least we were able to pay them on time for this nightmare. read more

We used DA in the past for our kitchen and bathrooms and always had a positive experience from the workers, designers and quality of materials they use. When it came time to get rid of our bathtub and change it to a walk in shower, we did not hesitate to call them. This company did a kitchen remodel for me. It was not a good experience. There were multiple mishaps. My remodel was to be completed in 8 weeks. It went on for 2 years, wrong size cupboards ordered, 3 sinks before they got it right, 3 faucets later, the moldings were wrong, they ran out of caulk. There were so many issues. The owner is never available. The project manager's keep leaving the company. I worked with 3 different project managers. I paid the balance in full before the work was completed. I have learned my lesson. read more

Called Mike to get a free estimate on a new shower. He quoted me between 8-11k. I'm not sure how a shower costs that much or how it's so broad. Who pays 11k for a small shower? I knew questions such as "has anyone quoted you yet?" Or "what price were you looking to get?" were red flags. I ended up getting a company for under 3k. I just don't want to see anyone get played like he tried to do to me. He answered quick and was on time so he gets 1 star. read more

I was looking for some help with putting my basement back together after the flooding last summer and wanted to go with a local company. I found D A Home Improvement via Angie's list search, where they had a vary different rating than here on yelp. I had purchased a new product as the flooring option for my basement, made to be used in garages, but I wanted to use indoors. They did a fabulous job with the flooring and helped me find a good option, read not to expensive but looks get, wainscoting. Also gave a such a good price on re-doing my kitchen cabinets and counter that I could not pass up to chance to have the kitchen redone. I needed more help with picking out finishes for the kitchen and their Mr Lee Kelly was wonderful. I found the work men to be through, very prompt, cleaned up after themselves, and overall did a wonderful job! read more

Total JOKE had these ladies build a garage last year and it not only took forever they damaged my property in the process then tried to charge me to fix it. I have nothing good to say about this company from the owner who was impossible to get ahold of to rob lee the weasel contractor who talks so fast you cant understand what hes saying and also has a knack for putting words in your mouth when it comes time for payment. All in all the garage looks nice but its got next to nothing to do with D&A Home Improvement because they contract out literally every part of the job to the lowest bidder so if you are looking for a cheap garage and a heck of a headache maybe these guys are for you. in my case not so much. Do yourself a favor and stay far, far away from this company as their customer service is not worth the paper they print your estimate on. read more

A few years ago I was looking to remodel my kitchen, and I called DA for an estimate. The owner told me that doing an estimate took a lot of time and he was concerned that I would take his design and have some one else do the job. No worries!!! With a bad attitude like that, I did him a great favor and told him not to bother. Now I am Yelping them... AVOID. read more

This bunch did a bathroom remodel for my elderly parents and now that it is finished I would not trust them to build a dog house. Cheap materials, poor workmanship and deviation from promised plan. If you have any kind of mechanical ability and some spare time, do it yourself before hiring these "professionals". read more

I hired DA Home Improvement via their salesperson (Jim Leadbetter) to do some work on my house. They were misleading and refused to provide the products that they promised when I hired them. Unfortunately for me, the estimate was generic...when I discussed the work that I specifically wanted with the sales person (Jim), he said "That's standard..that's how we do it for every customer" but then they didn't provide the product they promised. And when I said something about it and tried to get resolution, they just said "too bad" and threatened to put a lien on my house for the remaining money that I "owed" them. And because the estimate was generic, I have no legal ground. So, because I have good credit and I'm not willing to tarnish my record for a couple thousand $, I was forced to pay for an incomplete job. Interestingly, DA Home improvement IS willing to tarnish their record for a couple thousand $. Bad behavior should be punished, right? So don't reward these people with your business! My point: With so much competition and so many other reputable roofers, why use DA Home Improvement? Find someone else. I wish I had. read more

We had a bathroom remodeled by them years ago. It has be years and I am still upset with the work that was done. It was our first time doing any home improvements. Big mistake going with this company. The work they did needs a complete "do over" but we moved on to other projects so it has been on the backburner. One day we will get back to the bathroom and hire someone with a better rep. Lesson learned. BTW....a panel...covering the tub collapsed....the reason I called for them to come out?? Because they threw all their garbage and trash behind the panel...... they didn't use the several garbage bags/cans that were provided to them. I wasn't cleaning up the mess they left so I made them come and clean it out. I then decided to ask what a redo of the remodel would run. They said, "18 grand" ..... yeah...like we would ever hire them again. read more

I would like to give DA Home improvement no stars....but I will not be able post my comment. My experience was not good at all. I called to have someone come out and give me an estimate on some home repairs. The first appointment was scheduled for Thursday, April 25, 2019, 3:30pm. I am not sure how that date was screwed up, but for some reason the lady (named Tricia) who scheduled the appointment put it down for Thursday May 2, 2019, 3:30pm. She apologized for the mistake, I took of early from work on May 2, 2019, so I could be home and explain what I was looking to have done. At 2:00pm I get a voice message saying that they appreciate me for calling but...."this is not the scope of work we do and didn't want me waiting for the estimate." So unprofessional. I called back the office, spoke to the same lady (Tricia), she asked me "did they stop by?" I said no one stopped by , they left me a voice message instead of an estimate..... She then wanted me to send here the voice mail that was left , instead I played it for her and she said that she will call the owner. ....an hour or so goes by, I do get a call. ....now she tells me the owner would like to stop by tomorrow and leave an estimate. I said , I am not taking off any more time for this ......so she said I can call back the following week and have the owner come out then.......well I called the following week Wednesday , May, 8 ,2019, .......spoke to "another lady " who said Tricia had some sort of emergency, but she could take a message Ok I left a message and guess what ......no one even bothered to call back...no Tricia, no owner, no one. FOR GOD SAKE DON'T DO IT! The salesman Jim, comes in seems very nice, I signed a contract for 6,000 and gave them 2,000. They kept putting me off, then showed up with some of the items, they were the wrong items, did not order the rest then said they were not coming back because they had bigger jobs to do to make more money. They kept my 2,000 and I had to go to home depot to have someone finish the job. I live in Village Square Coop so it took me a long time to save the money to have my bathroom done, instead they came in August to place the order, showed up in October, then took 4 weeks, to walk out on a job that left me with no sink, no tile behind the tub and I had to hook up my own toilet. Just go to Home Depot, they gave me the same thing I wanted in the first place and it cost 1/2 as much. These people are so bad they should be run out of business, maybe put on T.V. on the hall of shame. I sure wish I would of read the reviews. If you live in Village Square do not use them. I don't care if the Coop used them before or not. They are crooks. read more
