Me & my fiancé went there to view for our wedding. Place was beautiful when you walked in but when we sat down with the very nice woman to speak about it she mentioned they only cater to weddings for 250-800 guest. Now on the website it ask how many ppl you plan on having& I received a phone call the same day I emailed asking about how many ppl I plan on having & everything. So We all the way from brooklyn a 45 min drive to this place only to wait 10 mins to be told we cant help you, they than directed us to some run down catering hall that looked like and I quote from my fiancé "a restaurant" which it did. Let me start with this.... Me and my husband have been looking for a place to have our wedding for some time and we have been quite frustrated with what NYC has to offer .... Everything is old, stinky, overpriced, overrated, or if the place is nice then the food pretty much is crap... So one day we have found this place online called "Da Milelle Illagio".... Called for an appointment to actually check it out in person and get more info about the place... Spoke to Antonio, very pleasant..... The first meeting went great he was very helpful, explained everything, basically told us that anything we want, they can do and more.... He has assured us they are professionals, they have experience etc..... We have felt like we hit the jack pot!!!! After a week or so, we decided to go for another meeting with him to have all of our questions answered and talk about the price. Second meeting went pretty quick, meaning once we have started asking questions involving money, alcohol, food, food tasting, cake, decor, service, etc .... He has assured us "NO PROBLEM", what ever we want "NO PROBLEM" He just kept repeating.... So as first timers with no experience of organizing big parties ("Wedding"), we felt we are in good hands..... BIG MISTAKE!!!! Lesson #1: Never trust anyone who answers with "NO PROBLEM to everything!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So We got the quote took it home and spoke about it with family.... Decided to go with the place .... Once the contract was signed and sealed the rest of the planning process with this place went to hell and back !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We were told by Antonio that in a couple of months Marcel ( another( lair\ scammer) will contact us to start the planning process..... Time came, We were told initially with Antonio (lair/scammer) that we will have a tasting of the food as well as the cake, also whatever cake I want they can make it , never said anything about selecting one out of the 4 options they have of their pre-made cakes!!! Basically, to make it short and easy to understand, Whatever Antonio said can be done, nothing was, it was a lie to get the costumer in to sign the contract with them and then when the time came they would toss you to another person and then that person would either not be aware of what was said to you initially or basically made you feel like you misheard or didn't understand what they told you...... (make you feel stupid) That's the trick!!! Lesson #2 : ALWAYS take notes, or ask to have the conversation recorded for just in case .... Just like in this situation we didn't do either in the beginning but once we noticed that there is something wrong with this place we started to make notes and bring more people to the meetings just in case. Lesson #3: If you are thinking of having any type of liqueur on the tables MAKE SURE TO BRING YOUR OWN!!!!!! We were told that we will get 1 gray goose, 1 johnny walker, 2 wines one white and one red big bottles .... great! "no problem" right!?!?!?! WRONG!!!! yet again!!!! gave one price in the beginning by Antonio, then changed the price once it was time closer to the wedding by Marcel ..... First of all the bottles are smaller( they won't tell you about that either until its too late) yet the price they charge is more than what you would get in a liqueur store for bigger bottles!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! By doing that we have saved 2 grand!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! just on liqueur alone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When me and my husband came to the venue the day of the wedding, the bridal suite was supposed to be nice and clean, refreshments placed on the table and cocktail food also given to us. What do you think happened?!?!?!?! I came to a dirty unprepared bridal suite with empty water bottles and dirty glasses on the floor!!! dusty and smelly !!! absolutely no refreshments for me and my husband whatsoever!!!!! one chair to sit on, and when you actually sat on it you would sink in to it that you could barely reach the table with your head! They gave me some older woman as my bridal attendant which was okey... but not great.... (used to be a soldier in her youth)?!?!?! so imagine what I had to deal with.... I asked her what is going n why isn't there any food for us or water or anything for that matter ??? her reply I don't know but I'll get you food... I started to freak out suddenly she left without notice and brought to the suite shots of vodka!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and told me to drink !!!!! WTF!!!! I told her we want food we haven't ate since 7 am !!! so she comes back with a big place of some cold dried rice and grilled vegetables !!!!! Which was left over from the guests cocktail hour!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! plus on top of that no utensils, napkins nothing to eat with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! still no water !!!!! If I could give zero start probably I would do it!!!!! Manager Antonio is so rude and unprofessional that I couldn't believe he is really treating me and fiancé like that. We went to that place because of the nice and very height ended look. We had 120 guests to invite for our wedding and in the moment I told the to Menager he was not interested to fight for us as a future clients!!! He show us a ball room but before he ask " so where have you searched before you came here?" My answer should look like " why you ask?" But I was polite and answer that we looked in some place in Long Island. He said that it's not that cheap here like there!!! Omg!!!! And when I called he told me price is 120$ per person- it end up 178$ per person!!!! I was so disappointed and angry to be treated like that !!! Beautiful place, except for that horrible lighting that makes all your food look electric orange. The food was exceptionally bland and completely boring. Roasts cooked to well done and bone dry. Service drinking with guests, seriously? Open bar runs out of glasses. But the absolute worst thing you'll experience is the damned WARM soda bottles they put on the tables. You'll pay BEYOND top dollar for below average, or even below poor, food and service. I don't care what the occasion or how close our relationship, I'm not coming back here. My fiancé and I have started our Venue search for our wedding and this place was part of our list of places to visit. I called and made an appointment for 6:30pm on a Tuesday and I arrived at 6:29. We looked around for the office and saw two gentlemen in two separate rooms with guests. I respectfully passed by the rooms, made eye contact and then took a seat just so they see that I am there. I did not want to be rude and enter the room making them aware that I had a 6:30 appointment. Thirty minutes later and no one has come out to acknowledge me or apologize for the wait. I tried listening in to see if they are coming to a close or even trying and they were talking about cigars which had nothing to do with an event. Its 7pm and I just think the proper thing for him to do would've been to excuse himself for a second, acknowledge me, and apologize for the wait and explain that he is with someone and would be done shortly. I don't care about waiting I just don't like feeling ignored or invisible, I will just assume that you will give that rude service to my guest if I was to have my event here. It came to a point that I got so impatient that I went over to another office expressed my disappointment to a gentlemen who seemed like a manager. He picked up his phone and just like that the guests left the room and the other "manager" greeted us. He then walked us over to the reception room, turned on the lights and stood on the side looking down on his phone. My other venue experiences the person showing us around would stay right by our side and point out specific things about the room. Standing to the side looking down at your phone and just asking, "so any questions?" just felt disconnected and rude. After having to wait so long to begin this process it's a slap in the face to not be taken care of more properly. As we left the room we started walking back to the office and I wondered why we didn't see any other space. I asked him did he have a space for the cocktail hour and he goes "oh you want a cocktail hour?" and then again "oh you want a ceremony." Maybe if those questions were asked before we started then he would've known that. Regardless the cocktail hour would've been held in the same room as the reception but just half of it and then he just didn't bother to show us the space for the ceremony or the bridal suite and at this point I didn't care to see it. He then begins going over the menu which sounded fine. He mentioned we could even do a food tasting which I always want. I would hate to give my guest terrible food. Then he discusses the cake and I asked would we be able to put input on the design of the cake and do a cake tasting. He then goes "you want a cake tasting?" Not understanding why I am being asked that question after I just asked if they even do one he continues. "If you want a cake tasting, sure you'll get a cake tasting. You want to taste my chocolate cake?" Now I'm clearly pissed and my fiancé has been pissed with the whole experience and now I have my dad and stepmother along with me hearing this man ask me if I want to taste his chocolate cake. I don't care if it wasn't meant the way it was said. Where is the respect and professionalism of this man? I'll tell you one thing, the interior of this place did surprise me, and it was much nicer than I thought it would be. However if you conduct yourself that unprofessionally and sloppy, than I am going to assume that you will handle my event, guest, and money as such. I Had my wedding here on 9/9/2016. Although my wedding day was beautiful there was so much things that were wrong. My decorations for the card table were not put out. My 16X20 picture frame that was supposed to be used for my guest to sign was never put out. There was one bartender for 180 people and the line was unbearable, poor bartender who had to serve 180 guest at a 6 hour party. We never got any cake and they tossed my special infinity cake topper that had our names carved out of wood. I'm still sad about my cake topper. we wanted to use that in our home. after our honeymoon, I noticed I was missing all my decorations that I did not see out. I called and went to go pick it up, no one ever thought about calling me to pick up my decorations. Place is Beautiful but they need more staff to keep up with the party and help out. . read more

Out of all the wedding halls I've been too, Illagio is now the #1. For the past couple of months, I've been invited to many weddings of my relatives and friends and we all had a great time. Not only is the hall beautiful, but the food itself is amazingly delicious and decorated very nicely which will make you eat it even if you are already full. I had my wedding here in August and this place is absolutely beautiful! The staff are extremely helpful and accommodating and will do everything to make your event memorable and unique. In September we had our wedding at Da Mikele Illagio, everything we asked for, wanted or imagined Ilya & his amazing staff made it happen for us! Almost 2 months later and our guests are still calling us to tell us that they had an amazing time. The food was delicious, dessert was great and service was wonderful! Had a wedding on Friday 8/21, was extremely disappointed in the service. It took the guest almost 20 minutes to get a glass of water during cocktail hour. Bartenders could not handle the line. Staff took too long to clear the table and I was promised top shelf liquor and it was not top shelf by no means. On top of it all they ran out of wine. I just hosted a wedding for my son at this venue and it was an amazing experience from day 1 after booking the date of the wedding. Everyone was very professional, and very accommodating to our needs. They did not disappoint us by promising one thing and doing another and for that I am very grateful. The food was FRESH, and very delicious. The waiters were very kind , patient and respectful to my guests and the place overall was perfect from the entrance to the exit. The bathrooms were so clean it looked like no one has ever used them before. The bride and groom were very well taken care of from the moment they entered and were served with food after dealing with a tiring day of pictures. My daughter is getting married soon, and I know for a fact that I don't even have to think about looking for any other hall. read more

Inhospitable! My 2 sisters, mother, my sister's fiance and myself arrived at this venue to scout it out as a possible wedding venue for her wedding in 2017. While the inside is breathtaking, the service is really lousy. Not friendly nor personable. We met with a woman, who seemed rather annoyed to show us around. Don't really even recall her introducing herself. After the lackluster tour, we met with a man named Antonio. He wanted to have a conversation about my sister's wedding out in the hallway. Did not even invite us into his office. This is after we waited until he got off the phone. Also, btw, we made an appointment. And when my sister asked about having it at their venue, he automatically said the date she requested was unavailable WITHOUT EVEN KNOWING THE DATE SHE WANTED. My sister is not having a huge wedding with like 200 people, but rather a smaller, intimate wedding. The people there seemed rather dismissive of us, we think, because of the size of the wedding. Antonio only offered a Friday night ceremony (the most expensive night, how nice of him), and not on the date my sister wanted. Then Antonio asked for our zip code (kinda weird since this is the fourth place we visited and the only one to ask that) to "know where the customers come from." Don't know what that means or why it is relevant. Antonio then came up with some dollar amount based on number of people. No negotiating, nothing thrown in, just this is the price, deal with it. Then he was kinda weird when we asked about gratuity and tip and saying "we don't handle that." Ok. So how much do we tip, I asked (mind you a 21% "fee" was added because that is standard and also not the tip, according to Antonio) and he replied "how much do you think?" idk that's why I am asking and aren't you like in the business? Shouldn't you know? Just saying. Anyway, we were completely turned off, not by the venue, but by the service we received when we arrived. We are grateful to Antonio though; he helped us make the decision to go elsewhere that had the dates my sister was looking for and better service. The restaurant deserves 0 star if I could rate it this way. The food is a joke, lot of salads that were not tasty at all. They were replacing the food very quickly taking the whole unfinished plate of fish and putting baked potatoes instead. There was only one hot dish served alone with no choice of fries, veggies or mashed potatoes, they called it stake I called it small pieces of beef that were very dry and hard to chew. For instance not enough food for everyone. I didn't even have a chance to put it on my plate. My husband got lucky receiving one little piece of that "stake". Only one litter bottle of absolut vodka and one litter of whisky on the table for 8 people. One Pepsi and no ice on the table whatsoever. We came hungry and we left hungry. We are vary disappointed and feel ripped off for the money we have paid. I do not recommend that place to anyone. Stay away from that thieves. read more

Last night we celebrated our daughter's sweet sixteen at Da Mikele Illagio, at first I was reluctant because of all the negative reviews, but I will like to say I am glad those reviews did not sway my decisions. From the venue, to the food, to the staff everything was amazing, I couldn't have asked for anything better. My family is from the caribbean and we requested a menu that would suit our palette and they met our expectation a hundred times over. I was told that the chef learned to make a particular dish that we requested only a few days ago and I want to say that it was on the money. The venue itself was breathtaking from the moment I saw it I loved it. The rooms are spacious with high chandeliers, marble floors and LED lighting. As for the staff Karina (who just started a month ago) was GREAT, she helped me from beginning to end. Every detail that I mentioned she handle with ease, she was on point and I didn't even see her write down anything. Also, Antonio and Marcel were great they made sure I was comfortable with all the details. My family, friends, and my daughter's friends had fabulous time, and I would do it all over again. I had my wedding here on May 9th, 2015. It was amazing !! My event took place in the Adagio hall with a guest list of 115 people. The staff, Marcel, Illiya, Barbra, T'gor, I just want to say THANK YOU! They were there from start to finish, and assisted in any way possible. The place is amazing, inside and out. Marcel helped with all the planning and setup for the big day. We met several times, and made many changes before the big day, but Marcel was patient and worked with us, and even gave us ideas. On the day of, when we walked into the room, it was amazing!!!!!!! Everything just as we wanted. We had other vendors in the hall as well, such as a Dj and a photo booth with 11 tables and buffet line. All that fit perfectly, with a giant dance floor. The staff was helpful. We had last minute table changes, and the staff under T'gor was able to accomodate and make all nessecary changes. My wife made a time line slide show from when we started from the very begining back in highschool which she wanted to play for the guest and me, but unfortunately the projector was unable to read the disc. But that didnt stop the staff from making it work, they went and searched for a laptop to play the disc, and it worked! It was perfect. Barbra also assisted my wife and I throughout the whole event. She helped my wife with wardrobe changes, got us food when we were accompanying guests throughout the event. She was constantly checking in to see if we ever needed anything or anything she can do to help. Thank you Barbra for your amazing service. Illiya was present on the day of the event as well. He was constantly checking in with me to make sure everything was fine, constantly asking if there is anything to make it better but it was already perfect. The food was great. My family and friends enjoyed the food. It was not the traditional 12 course chinese banquet dinner, but they didn't have any complaints, and they all enjoyed the food. I attended a corporate holiday party at this venue a few days ago. The place is lovely, and quite impressive to look at. The appetizers during the cocktail hour were plentiful, but so unimpressive, that the waitresses seemed to have difficulty distributing them as there were not many takers. Dinner was buffet style, which is typical for corporate parties. On each table were mismatched napkins, a basket of bread, a plate of packaged pats of butter that you'd find in any diner... and NO bread plates or cuttlery! Say WHAT??? The dinner food was merely okay, nothing worth talking about. There was some nice salmon but not enough for the party. Two kinds of chicken... oh boy oh boy, chicken. There was a random platter of slices of CHEESE. To go on what, with what? Dessert was... I kid you not... 8 teeny weeny little cubes of assorted itty-bitty cakes each about an inch square, served on a rectangular white plate placed in the center of each table... and once again, NO plates! When did cake become finger food? Where was the coffee or tea? Oh that showed up about half an hour later! Totally inexcusable. This corporate party used to be held for many years at The Marriot La Guardia, which has spectacular food and service, but considerably fewer chandeliers. And trust me, guests don't talk about chandeliers after a party, they talk about FOOD. I'll give this place 2 stars for the pretty chandeliers. read more

For a first time experience it was very disappointing. The staff was extremely unprofessional and disrespectful. I attended a wedding in this location and from the minute we walked through the doors, the door man was rude and spoke to us with a condescending tone. The woman in charge of looking over the events who also was the bride's assistant was also very rude and unprofessional, so much so that I felt compelled to put a stop to it by approaching her and letting her know that she cannot have that behavior. There were other staff members that were also unprofessional but I think that the two mentioned above have to be highlighted as they are the two you see as soon as you enter to the hall (doorman) and all through the event (bride's assistant). Without a doubt this gives a bad reputation to Da Mikele Illagio. I would never consider them for one of my events or recommend it to any of my friends and family. They need to get their act together and learn proper catering service from their competitors out in Long Island and other great catering halls throughout the tristate area. :( read more

where should i begin? i live very close to this place and have seen it transform into this amazing venue i can tell alot of work and dedication was put into it. i became engaged on december 2013 and as soon as i found its contact info i called i set up a meeting with illya who was very professional. We booked that same day sometime in feb 2014 but then i started to read some reviews here and started to get worried yet all my concernes where covered by marcel which is extremely helpful aswell def answered all my emails and phone calls whenever i had a bridezilla day or just anxiety kicked in. the day of came which was this year April 25 2015 and once i finished my ceremony at my church and took pics at the park i arrived and saw that everything was beautiful ! From the cake to my ice sculpture everyone was very pleased even thou some people said they were not to happy with the food but i cant be the judge of that since i didnt get to eat much but that was my own fault i was way to busy taking pics greeting guests etc (bride problems) i did have some cake which i was so impressed by it was delicious im thinking of ordering a replica of one for our one year anni!! the open bar was amazing the bartenders worked very hard that day kept everyone happy everyone had a drink in their hand at every moment i glimsed at them. i cant forget my bridal attendent barbara ! she was a sweetheart helped me with everything ! so with all that being said i recommend this place 100 percent for any event this place will take your guest breath away !! read more
