Right when you enter you have to leave your bag at the front with is off-putting. I understand it's to prevent theft, but it also makes me worry that someone will steal my belongings since they're just lying at the front of the store. They have a huge collection of manga and figures, though the prices are higher than stores like Amazon. It's a nice place to come and look around, though I don't think the employees like that as there are signs saying "no loitering". When we left the girl said thanks for coming even though we didn't buy anything. Overall, the store is still the same as the last time I came but my experience with the employees was much better.

It had to go on a small table off to the side from the checkout though. I was kind of hoping it'd at least be kept behind the counter? Only one employee worked the day we visited. They were nice. I also understand that they had work to do, specifically involving unpacking boxes & climbing ladders to put items away. But who is exactly is watching our bags now? My friend and I had to take turns staying near the table with our belongings and alternate looking/going deeper into the store. TLDR for the next: You're guaranteed to overspend. Please check the price ranges online & compare them before you buy something here. Everything is triple the price. Figures at GameStop that are $35 can be found here for $70+. Nendoroids with frequent rereleases cost more here than what you'd pay if you were to get them directly from the retailer with shipping. Scale figures that have binned and can be bought for under $100 are priced here at $250-$300. A figure available for preorder at this very moment in time retailing at $313 online is $999 on the AnimeXtreme website. The list goes on. The list CAN go on. I give AnimeXtreme 2 stars: one for having a decent manga section, and another for having enough to look at to kill time before our dinner reservation. Would never buy a figurine from here though.

One of the cheapest spots in the city to pick up a board game. The pros are they have a massive collection, a giant library filled with rows and rows of games and collectibles. If I'm in the area, I used to stop by to peruse because I'm that kind of geek. I honestly haven't made them exercise their customer service skills because I research my board games and know exactly what I want. But I can see that newbies could be overwhelmed with all the options coming in. We decided to buy a board game for a friend's child, age 6. My boyfriend ran off to find a game at Meeple without consulting me first. He came out empty-handed, saying there was nothing suitable for that age range. I'm SURPRISED. There's a board game for everything there. I'm not an expert for games for six-year-olds, so I just Googled, found a dad blog and decided Catan Junior was it and purchased online here. They processed our order immediately and were ready for pick up the same day if needed. The truth is my BF was about to check out at Indigo, which is 30% more before I reminded him to check at Meeple again for prices. The only difference *I think* is the packaging art is slightly different and the box is larger at Meeple. If their staff actively asks every customer walking in and tries to help, they can convert more casual or newbie gamers--what a lost opportunity.

This is a hidden gem in downtown Toronto and kudos to all the adventurers who stumble upon this bookstore on their own without the help of the internetz or a GPS. It's located inside the 401 Richmond building, which has mini art galleries inside, a cafe and a tiny music museum. The interior inside is very pretty so while you make a trip to Swipe, embrace the sounds of the squeaking floors and the feel of the building. This bookstore has a lot of books (not just design books), toys, stationary items and cute unique boutique-like items within the store. It's an awesome place to get some cool gifts for friends or family or for yourself.
