The cars we used were newer models and immaculate in and out. We took 5 lessons with two of their instructors (Jack and Yaakov) both excellent. They don't just "teach to the test", but also teach driving skills that will keep your family safe. Their knowledge of the process in the county is remarkable. (the road test in this county can be tough) After each lesson, the instructors took the time to explain to me what my child needed to practice and focus on Their flexibility and availability was key for us and proved invaluable. As long as my daughter is happy, I will leave it alone. I suggested a new instructor but my daughter doesn't want one... let's see how this goes...... First impression. I arrive 15 minutes early for my first appointment. My daughter's instructor arrives 15 minutes late, pulls in the driveway and beeps the horn to summon us. She doesn't get out to introduce herself, there was no prior notification of her being late, and she has an attitude. The instructor drives off after my daughter enters the car and says she'll be back at 1pm. The facility has no waiting room or chairs. Luckily there is one metal bench my daughter and I shared while we waited. Unprofessional is a great way to describe my first experience. For the amount of money I paid to send my daughter to this school, solely based on reviews, I am highly disappointed. I can only hope the rest of the sessions go better since I purchased a package.

I am an advanced driving coach at this point and when people approach me that have zero experience in a car, I send them to New York Auto School first. She was very anxious about getting behind the wheel, but gained some good confidence after the lessons. Ahmed was very flexible and punctual to every appointment. Recently-ish did a road test facilitated by NYAS, interacted primarily with Wendy (who runs…read moreoperations of the company) and Joe (who was my driving instructor). I called in very short notice to see if they had something, and to my great delight it turned out that they actually did. It took a little back and forth, but in the end, after about one day, they successfully managed to pen me in for a road test, over in white plains. The big problem with these guys came with payment. I went on the website to pay for my package: a one hour lesson and a road test, which cost $150. However, immediately after I paid at the portal on their website, I was redirected to another page which said something like, "thanks for your $500 payment". Indeed, they 'accidentally' charged me an extra $350. Wendy was really good with apologizing and reversing the charges, but noted me that I could wind up waiting something like, 5 business days for the charges to be reserved? It worked out in the end, but if I had been the kind of person who had a very low credit limit, something like this would have seriously fucked me in the ass. I hope they fix this very serious problem. The car Joe operates I think was a white Honda (civic? accord?) it handles pretty well, though the gas pedal is a little bit sensitive. He did a good job of predicting what would come up on my road test, and was familiar with the test site. He wasn't too hands on, which I appreciated. I ended up passing the road test, so overall things went smoothly.
