I think my journey to find the perfect pregame spot before a Washington Spirit game is now complete. Dacha is a semi-outdoor beer garden across from Nat's Park and a short walk from Audi Field, making it the perfect storm to collect a massive crowd before a game. We arrived shortly before happy hour ended, about two hours before a Friday night Spirit game and were able to get a table. Dacha did fill up quickly, but with plenty of seating and an open section with standing tables in the center, there was still room to move around. With the glass walls surrounding us, we felt like we were in a garden. The noise level, while high, was not as bad as Solace, and we were still actually able to hear each other. Our server did not check on us as time went by, but she did bring us waters as soon as we were seated, which really exceeds my expectations for a beer garden. Our food and drinks arrived quickly and were super tasty. Both the flagship lager and IPA were drinks I'd order again, and as a vinho verde admirer, I appreciated having that as an option on the HH menu. While the skinny burger is delicious, the real star of the HH menu is the fried pickles, homemade and flavorful and piping hot. I'm eager to go back for another pregame and try the HH cocktail, perhaps sampling something from the regular menu as well. read more

Walking home on a cold night I saw a blazing fire pit and a table full of German beer. Seemed like a great time for a break. Loved the experience as much as the tasty pilsner and the skinny burger. Easy location next to the ball park. I tried to walk up to the bar to order a beer at first, and maybe I wasn't confident enough or didn't know the process, but I was fully ignored while the bartender was talking to another employee. I found a table and was able to order from there. Their standard beer was yummy. The menu was disappointing personally (I think too complex for what I wanted out of a beer garden? I don't remember exactly), but the fried pickles my friend and I got were tasty. I like the Toast tab ordering system. Our server was friendly and helpful. One of the funnest atmosphere spots in DC. This place is great for a day outing with friends or family. It's near the water, everything is outside, and it all made for a great experience. The drinks and service were top notch. We had our two year old with us and the staff was so helpful with everything. We just had a couple of drinks and the pretzel. While the pretzel could have been warmer, the beer cheese and dill mustard that came with it were the best soft pretzel accompaniments I have ever had. I'm not sure what they put in the beer cheese, but it has a really different flavor to it that was delicious. Wish we would have had time to try more because all the food we saw pass by looked great. We stopped in on a rainy afternoon prior to a Nats game to check out Dacha's happy hour. The beer garden was mostly empty so we were able to find a dry table. You order through a QR code, which is super convenient. A server came over to welcome us and brought us a carafe of water and glasses. We ordered a HH Hefeweizen beer in a boot and a cocktail called the Monty. The drinks were very welcome and yummy! For food, we ordered the HH steak sandwich and the HH burger. One came with chips, one came with fries, which we liked. Both sandwiches were really good, except the steak sandwich was a mini version. We ran into the same thing at Ghost Burger. I took off one star for this, because all happy hour food should be full-sized or it's not really a deal. Overall, I enjoyed Dacha and would go back. Such a cute beer garden in Navy Yard. I came here for a non-profit event and thought the space was the perfect way to get a large group of people together. Dacha is an indoor/outdoor space with small trees inside. The bartenders were very friendly. A good amount of their beers weren't on tap so it was a little hard to easily sample things but what I will say is there's a beer called zombie something and it was delicious! The pretzel that I ordered was a bit too hard for my taste but it got the job done because I needed a little snack. The beer cheese was very memorable. Absolutely unacceptable billing practices at Dacha Beer Garden in Navy Yard. I was hit with two $108.79 holds on my card--plus the actual $87.42 charge--after splitting a $130 bill with my father. That's nearly $400 held or charged for a simple meal, causing my bank account to go negative. When I raised the issue with staff, they dismissed it, and even admitted this is a known problem. CapitalOne is now investigating the restaurant's duplicate holds. This kind of financial carelessness is outrageous, especially from a place I used to enjoy. You will need an ID just to get in, even if you don't plan on drinking. The ambiance and the firepit was why we came. The food; plant based bratwurst, beer battered fries and fried pickles were great. The sectional that we sat on was covered with dog hair. That was kinda annoying considering the place is more of a premium spot in food and concept. The other sectionals looked the same. That being said the place seems pet friendly. Service was good, you just find a table and server will come and take your order. The servers are usually walking around and will notice if you need something. Beer selection is diverse in flavors and brands. This is great for groups or for a party of one. Hard seltzer is available but hit or miss based on what's in stock. Great spot for groups! There's lots of open space and benches with canopies (definitely came in handy during the rain!). There are a variety of beers on tap and cocktails. You can order outside from the trailer or scan the QR code on the tables. I hit a snag with the QR code and just walked up to the trailer and placed my food and drink orders. It was a bummer that the sangria and some of the cocktails aren't offered in a glass and single serving size - only available in the boot or pitcher meant for groups. The Rose Sangria was refreshing and on the sweeter side, but the boot was a commitment! Very awkward to drink out of and difficult for sharing. I was able to conquer the boot by the end of the night (3+ hours) and made the most of my $20. While you get a bang for your buck with the boot, I rather pay more and willing to spend $10 just for a glass. The finger food German menu is pretty limited, it was great to see a few hearty vegetarian dishes - veggie bratwurst and a burger. Even though the veggie burger wasn't fresh and not made in-house and tasted like a bland frozen Boca burger, the house-made sauce peppered in some nice flavor and helped to balance it out. While the veggie burger wasn't my favorite and quite pricey, it was nice to have something solid in my stomach by the time I reached the bottom of the boot! The beer boot was fun and the beer was great and $18 seemed on par for about 2.5 beers in the dc area. The brats were probably the best brat I've ever had but for $12 I don't think I'd get it again. The fried pickles were also good but not anything special and it was $8 for 6 fried pickles (pieces of fried pickles, so only 2-3 pickles total and not even the large dill pickles). This place is a definite go to when visiting dc. Their outdoor seating is some of the best in the area. Summer time or winter time and during a pandemic. They have contactless ordering and quick service. Beer selection is decent. It's always a good vibe. Food quality has been an issue almost every time I have visited. Does every review need the caveat that it's being written during the COVID-19 pandemic? I don't know if many people pay attention to the date a review was written. Albeit, I guess it doesn't matter if I am giving a positive review! Given the current heavy times, Dacha Navy Yard has outdoor seating where they will serve you their beer boots and burgers. They have a QR code on the table in which you scan with your phone, pick what you want, then pay through the app. Is this a "new normal?" Will the way we pay ever go back to the "before times?" I mean, I sort of like this new system, COVID-19 or not. Other restaurants are doing this same ordering method. One drawback is that I don't like tipping before getting any service. Maybe it can be an after-the-fact option where you tip later on. The world is crazy. Yes, you must absolutely get a boot of beer, especially because they're only a manageable 0.5 liters! I had the Weihenstephaner Hefeweizen, which gets my highest recommendation if you like more flavor in your bread water. You should also absolutely get a burger (any burger they serve will do). When I was there on the outdoor patio I had me a Double Bacon Cheeseburger and I made sweet love to it. Can't wait to come back another time to consume their Dacha Burger with some pork belly in it and wash it down with another delightful German brew. read more
