This Mexican/japanese fusion place came highly recommended by many people and I can see why! The service was absolutely impeccable despite the place being packed. We waited over an hour for our food, and unbelievably, the waitress didn't even bring us straw or water. Not once. The service was completely unacceptable--no urgency, no communication, and no basic attention to customers. Waiting over an hour is bad enough, but being ignored the entire time made it even worse. If you value your time or expect basic customer service, I would strongly recommend going somewhere else. A restaurant should not treat paying customers this way.

I also ordered the Ikura Nigiri and it was great - salmon roe was very cold though (needs to be stored at a certain temp, I get it) so I waited for it to not feel frozen before finishing the second piece. Overall, great serving size but I don't know if I'd get the same sashimi again since you only get four kinds of fish for a rather high cost. I tried asking the server what the difference was between the 9 and 12 piece and they did say "more of the same but better" and I'm still not sure what it means so the next time they update the menu they really should offer more detail on this item.

It's a small thing, but it perfectly represents her approach to customer service. The sushi itself is remarkable, and the chefs clearly appreciate their customers. They routinely do little extra things that make us feel valued and create a level of service that really stands out. We generally spend around $100 for two people, including one alcoholic beverage and green tea, which I consider very reasonably priced for the quality of the food and service, especially in today's economy. The only thing which surprises me is that the restaurant often seems slower than I would expect. We've been on both Mondays and Saturdays, and I honestly don't understand why this place isn't packed. Hiro Sushi has officially become our new favorite sushi restaurant, and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
