We went out to celebrate and split several items between our party. The vegetable tempura came as a huge serving and was crispy and light. The firecrackers (fried stuffed jalapeños) were flavorful, well cooked, and lightly crisp. The crispy jalapeño roll was delicious and even my husband who doesn't do raw fish ate it up. The ceviche roll was a creative fusion surprise, it was very fresh and flavorful. We also had their fusion fish taco, which was a flat panko breaded fish tender that was served on a fresh corn tortilla with guac and a surprisingly delicious chipotle sauce. We also enjoyed the drinks, a refreshing sprite/tequila/lime juice combo served in an olla, a touch we really enjoyed. This Mexican/japanese fusion place came highly recommended by many people and I can see why! The service was absolutely impeccable despite the place being packed. Honestly... I thought that they'd be slacking, now that they have a solid following. Nope! This is hands down my go to for Sashimi Salad - Korean Chirashi. Sashimi Salad $18. It's like having the Korean Chirashi "protein style". It's absolutely fresh, flavorful, well balance with pickled veggies and raw spiraled diakon and beet. They make their own spicy house sauce that would be good on everything. It has a tang, but I wouldn't call it "spicy". If you want a big, fresh, sashimi mixed salad with steamed rice and a bowl of miso soup... order the Korean Chirashi for $25. It hits all the taste buds. I always have leftovers, it's very filling but does not feel at all heavy :D NOTE: This is one place that takes the same level of care with TO GO Orders as they do for sit-down. Since we're staying at Rogue Regency Inn near Medford Airport, we wanted some Japanese food. Tekkamaki Sushi was suggested by some locals. We decided to give it a try. Any neurodivergent humans, be aware- this place is LOUD, and in my opinion doesn't necessarily need to be. The servers yell, WELCOME as soon as you walk in, and one in particulars voice is loud the entire stay no matter where she is in particular. Any ASD mommies just be aware, maybe get take out. We were out shopping and were looking for some sushi and found this place when checking Yelp. The parking lot was full but we were able to find a spot. It is not a large place but there are booths, tables and you can sit at the bar. They have a board showing specials when you walk in. We were greeted right away and shown to a table. I ordered a sparkling Sake and we ordered the Spicy Tuna Roll and the Sexy Dragon Roll. The place was pretty busy but the drinks and the food came out pretty quickly. Everything around looked good. The rolls were great and the fish tasted fresh. We will try some different items next time we are here. read more

How can you make sushi great? By adding Mexican flavors. The ceviche roll which tastes exactly like a ceviche without the tostada is a 10/10 and the best I've had in a long time. It's citrusy, sweet, fresh and damn good. The birria ramen was a 10/10 with a very rich and flavorful consume. Make sure to order the freshly cut sashimi which melts in your mouth. Honorable mention are the soft shell crab tacos, hot Cheeto roll and margarita. They also have a well marinated and grilled to perfection short rib kalbi. I will definitely be coming back. Stumbled upon this place 2 years ago on my drive down to Nor Cal. Brought my husband back on our drive home from Nor Cal and was just as amazed by the food, staff and experience this second time. Jesus remembered me from my initial trip and even shared some of the same Mezcal he remembers me loving. This time I enjoyed servings of the yellowtail and tuna belly nigiri and a spicey tuna hand roll (double nori) and my husband decided on the bento box. This place deserves every star it has received, plus some. Unreal. In contention for the freshest fish I've ever had in Oregon. And I lived on the coast for years. Creative menu, with some really fun fusions and some classics. I ordered the Cantarito to drink. So few places understand the balance of a well done cocktail. Extremely refreshing, full of citrus flavors without tasting juice-y. I ordered the Soft Shell Crab Tacos and the Ceviche Roll. Both are stunning in presentation! Both are HEFTY portions too! I honestly cannot remember having full soft shell crabs that size outside of the East Coast. Tortillas are handmade, corn, and delicious on their own. And as amazing as that dish was, this Ceviche Roll? Just a whole other level. A true piece of art. Fresh. Full of flavors without drowning out fresh fish, which is incredibly difficult to pull off. House made hot sauce was to die for. And to top it all off, my server, whose name I'm about to embarrassingly get wrong, (but it was close to Cameron), was incredibly passionate about the menu. It was honestly a pleasure listening to her describe different choices with her ever so slight New York accent (couldn't quite pick out the burrough, and she was well spoken enough to not give it away with any slang). So much so that I listened to her again on the person next to me. Only knock on the place was a slight lack of professionalism. One of the servers left her coffee drink right next to me on the sushi bar. It was there my entire meal. The football game on the TV above the chefs just didn't fit the level of food nor the atmosphere. And the servers reach over you to grab the food to serve to the tables. More people started coming in. No sign in list. One lady went to ask for help from a server but to no avail. More people showed up. Still no one to seat us. People were frustrated. Never happened here before. Anyway I hate to be ignored so I finally walked out and took my money with me to my real favorite place NEW SAKURA not far away and enjoyed great food and fast friendly service as usual. Left a big tip. Tekkamaki meeds to figure out what happened and who dropped the ball and handle it accordingly. Usually good food and service even though it is more of a 'coffee shop' ambience. Consistently the best sushi! We literally come here once a week unless we are out of town or sick. The fish quality is great and always fresh. I am a sucker for nigiri and our other go-to is the Korean chirashi. We always leave full (food coma every time) and the service is on point. We usually eat around 2 pm, so likely miss rush hour. Finally made it out to Tekkamaki- had it bookmarked for a minute! Their fusion menu has many directions you can go- from typical Korean dishes like be bim bap and bulgogi to traditional Japanese sushi. There's a Latin fusion bringing in dishes like birria ramen and sushi burritos rolled in flamin hot Cheetos to go alongside a mango or watermelon tamarind margarita. Service was a bit slow, but very friendly and helpful which always beats the alternative. The open dining area has high ceilings and a simple , modern decor with tables, couches, a sushi bar and a big screen TV. We didn't venture too far off the sushi path today since it was our maiden voyage here and wanted to really lock in on their sushi. Given the Yelp! reviews, we came to Tekkamaki Sushi to feed our souls. It was about 1:20pm when we arrived, and they were pretty busy. We were sat within about 5 minutes, and helped within another 10. We ordered the Firecracker to share as a starter, and I also got thr miso (unfortunately forgot to take a picture before I devoured it). Both were delicious! Thr Firecracker had a melt in your mouth feel, and the miso had a wonderful ratio of seaweed, tofu, and green onion. For our rolls, I got their special, the Shrimp Love Roll? While my friend got the Hot Cheeto Roll and Caterpillar roll. Of course we tried each other's choices, and we were not disappointed! All the rolls had great flavor that kept you wanting to eat more. In my opinion the Bento was the best value for money. We made a same day reservation on a Saturday and were seated promptly upon arrival even though it was very busy. They serve complimentary edamame which was a nice surprise. Our server was amazing. She was hustling around bussing tables and serving. We tried four rolls and loved each one. The fish tasted fresh and the food came out relatively quickly.
