The outside looks deceiving as once you enter you'll feel right at home with the cozy decor and friendly people. The food is homemade and plentiful and the prices are well below the other places in the area. The best part of my visit was listening to the conversation and fun banter between the owners and the locals who also pulled me, a complete stranger, into the mix. Dad's is located just minutes away from the famous Tree House Brewery. I would be hard pressed to not stop here again for breakfast or lunch if I happen to be in the area again. read more

So first let's clear something up. It's breakfast food on the side of the highway not 5 star dining. Breakfast being my favorite meal I stopped in my journey by. Omelet was well cooked. French toast was good (you could smell the cinnamon) Home fries are bland but honestly that's what you get more than seasoned ones at most places lately. The real charm of this place is the service. Family place with decent food and warm friendly service. If you're only going for the home fries, you'll be disappointed, but if you're going for a meal somewhere that you can have a conversation and won't leave hungry this is your spot. Definitely a Local Favorite Small place located on north side route 20, ok for right turn in but no left turn. Small parking area located in front. We were between breakfast and Lunch so had no problem getting a table. Definitely a local favorite, saw no other tourist. Atmosphere basically none, strictly local casual jeans, t shirt and boots. Waitress was friendly and courteous but took care of the locals first then got to us. Menu had a large variety of choices for breakfast and lunch. When we finally ordered I had the Western Omelette and my spouse had Eggs and Bacon. Meals were cooked to order and food portions were good size. Meals were tasty. They do have free WiFi. There seem to be a lot of good reviews so maybe we hit them on a bad day... My girlfriend got two eggs over easy with home fries and an english muffin. The eggs were a runny mess that she didn't eat and at the end of the meal the waitress actually asked if she wanted a box. To take those eggs home you would have needed to pour them into a cup! The home fries are pretty plain and seem to be flash fried with some onions thrown in but otherwise no spices that I could taste, meh. Her English muffin was good though. I got the veggie omelet which had chopped onions and peppers as well as canned spinach and mushrooms. I was hoping something lighter and semi-healthy but the veggies were actually pretty oily and heavy. (I barely made it to the bathroom when I got home!) The meal came with buttered toast but they must have let the toast sit out a little too long because the butter wasn't melted and the toast was barely warm and very crunchy. Located right on route 20,I've passed by nearly every day but never stopped in before today. I've never really payed much attention as the place is very unassuming. You walk in and it's just as it seems from the outside...not very big. Don't let that fact fool you as it was still worth the stop. The service was fast and friendly, not necessarily in that order. Had the veggie omelette and my daughter had the western omelette. Both here great. However, we ordered strawberry pancakes for my grandsons and I didn't realize the strawberries would be in the batter and not on top. When they came to the table I simply said I didn't realize it and the waitress chastised me and told me if I wanted them that way I should have said it. Even though I looked at the pictures on yelp, they didn't prepare me for what we walked into. It really is a small little diner by the side of the road. The staff are lovely, the food was decent, and the prices were great. The breakfast menu allows you to build your own breakfast, at quite an economical rate. The person I dined with noted that they haven't seen a menu in years that had items under one dollar, as in 75 cents! Cash only. If you're in the area, and you need a breakfast spot, it's decent. I've been by this place hundreds of times and never stopped, lucky for me I was really early to where I had to be so I stopped in for breakfast. It's a small place which is how I like a diner, with a cute country decor. The waitress and cook, Dad I assume, were super friendly and the food was ready quick and tasted great. As a waitress at Dad's (an acronym for Donld A. Daigle) for the last 18 years, I must say the family atmosphere cannot be beat. We serve huge portions and if you leave hungry, it's your own fault. Be sure to check out the daily specials and the everyday specials posted on the wall. We DO HAVE handicapped parking and we have handicap access on the side of the building. People love this place and it's sort of where the townies gather for breakfast or a quick bite. Food is good as breakfasts go, and there's plenty but our biggest complaint was that it was dirty. The A/C near the table we were seated at was covered in greasy dust, the floors were old and in need of updating and our coffee cups were badly stained. Doesn't everyone give their coffee and tea cups a wipe with some type of Clorox from time to time? This place definitely should. The waitress swept the door beside us while we and others were eating which I found disturbing. Friendly and for the most part attentive unless a conversation flares up with one of the locals. Dad's isn't very healthy- but it's delicious! I grew up in Charlton and come here often when I come home. The pancake special (one bluberry, one strawberry, one banana, one pineapple) is really good, but it's a lot of pancake! You can order most things a la carte so you can build your own breakfast. The coffee is pretty good too, and the service is always spectacular (my mom, Beth, is a waitress there and is very good at her job! say hi to her when you go!). They also get an A for creativity- last time we went they had a bacon cheeseburger omelette! Prices are reasonable, service is fast, and it's an easy to get to location on route 20. read more

A wonderful little hole in the wall restaurant that is very small but has big portions for very little money. The chocolate chip pancakes where the last thing that I had at dads recently and they where amazing! The chocolate chips where perfect and cake itself was nice and fluffy. The scrambled eggs are wonderful also. There always fluff filled if you add a little bit of salt it might be the best scrambled eggs yoy have ever had. I had eaten here several years ago and wasn't too impressed. I returned last month with my kids and was pleasantly impressed & have changed my mind about the place. I had remembered the place being dark and tiny. When I returned it was bigger than it looks and it seemed brighter & more enviting. I'm not sure if they did any remodeling or redecorating or what. Anyways, the food was yummy! I had the sausage & cheese omelet and homefries. The homefries were perfection!!!!! Loved it. The kiddos had an order of chocolate chip pancakes that they split. Next time I think I'll just order them 1 pancake each tho. They aren't big eaters. It is cash only tho. That's the only downfall. I don't usually have cash on me. They do have crayons and coloring books, but it's a help yourself type situation I guess. We didn't know when we sat down.
