Came here for dinner at 530 on thanksgiving eve. Everything was yummy overall. We got the A1 daebak combo for the meatz. It's a good variety and you cook everything yourself on the grill. It's nice that this place has these tube vents that can come down closer to the stove so the smoke can be dissipated better. I didn't expect to eat a lot since I'm getting over something but I kept eating and eating since the balance was so wondering between the freshness and coldness of the salad and side dishes to the hotness of the doenjang jjigae (spicy tofu soup) and steamed egg. We also got the seafood pancake. It doesn't have much flavor but there's lot of dips (3) that is given to you at the beginning. Service was also good (you press a button on the table) but know that they will add gratuity (20ish%) to your bill (at least they did for our group of 6). Pro tip on the side dishes. If they have mashed potatoes as a side dish, eat it with the Kim chi. They go real well together as the sweetness of the creamy potatoes and the tart fermented slickness of the Kim chi is a beautiful marriage of flavors. read more

We went here on a packed Friday night and waited for an hour and it was absolutely worth it. The staff was great and the food was as well. We started with the Haemul Pajeon(seafood pancake) not only was it good but a meal in itself. We also got the Japchae( noodles) and it was good as well. Good KBBQ experience. We had reservations for 4 ppl for dinner, and were seated promptly. Alas, had to leave my wife at home because the menu's small print stated each guest must order a meat dish. Needless to say, not veggie friendly. My carnivore posse ordered the 4-person combo special, with soy-marinated chicken, pork belly, marinated pork, sliced ribeye, and some other meat treats that I can't quite recall. The meats were preceded by salad, tofu soup, steamed egg, and a decent variety of banchan. The egg was more savory than most I've had in the past, with a generous infusion of fish sauce. My favorite banchan were the thin pickled diakon and the fish cakes. The kimchee, we all agreed, was not the best. As for the main event, the meat portions were generous, and the quality was pretty high. Our grill was at the perfect heat and we were able to cook and eat all of our food within about an hour and a half of arrival. I liked the pork belly, chicken, and marinated pork, but really everything was good. The ribeye was maybe the only meat that didn't seem as high quality as the others, but even that was ok. I asked for hot sauce and they brought me a nice little cup of gochujang to go along with the other dipping sauces (fermented bean paste, sweet soy sauce, sesame oil). The portion was perfect to get everyone just mildly uncomfortably full. Often at KBBQ, the service leaves much to be desired. Here they had a call button, and we always had someone at our table within three minutes of pushing the button. We called a few different times (extra rice, banchan refill etc) with prompt service each time. The price was reasonable for the food/experience, at about $40 after tax and tip. All in all, an above average KBBQ experience. read more

A few years ago, they took a nice, comfortable, intimate restaurant, knocked it down, & made a new, industrial style restaurant. It's so noisy in there that it's difficult to carry on a conversation. And what ever selection, it's good for 2 persons. Food: Always loved Korean BBQ. Meats are cooked DIY, and only takes 3-5 mins depending on the thickness of the meat. It comes with banchan or multiple small side dishes, salad, rice, soup and steamed egg . Service: One of the few restaurants, that has a buzzer/ ringer that each time you need assistance, you can always call assistance in one press of the button. And in a minute, someone will be in attendance to you, Ambiance: Well lit since one side is a glass window. Set up, - smoke are being vacuum down or up through the big pipe in the center. 3.5 The quality of food is good the service is terrible. You cook your meal over a grill built into the table. I brought my 13yr old and 7yr old. It was pretty busy. My 7yr old cooked all our meat with my supervision she loved it. It was hard to get anyone to bring us anything once we ordered. We couldn't get water or napkins. It took 15min just to pay my bill. Daebak is a really cool spot in the Seoul center in Southfield. There are a couple of shops in the center as well where you can browse while waiting for a table. Definitely a cool vibe and most of the tables are set up for KBBQ, although you can order other things off the menu which I have done before. Their tofu soup is delicious but very spicy and I ordered rice which is how I had always had it before. They did give us unlimited sides, but the service could have been better. When you need something you press a button on the table and they are quick to come. But when ordering KBBQ, they just put the meat and sauces down without much explanation and let you run with it, so for 1st timers it can be a little confusing. What a hidden gem! This is an oddly situated KBBQ in Southfield right off 696 that I have passed by countless times, but because it's a bit nestled away / you can only see it from certain parts of the freeway, I have driven past it more times than I can count without ever knowing it was there. It was through the suggestion of my friend who works close to here that I finally found out this existed and tried it out. All in all, the food was great. Great quality meats, delicious sides, and overall, a wide selection of options to choose from. The main downside was that it was very pricey, especially for not being an all-you-can-eat kind of KBBQ that I've grown accustomed to. But you definitely get a good amount of food for each dish that you order! The only other downside that I have a lot of empathy for is that the employees didn't ever really check up on you, given that this was my first time here, I'm not sure if that's because they were short staffed as most every place is nowadays or because that's how they run things here. But that was easily remediated with a call button at each table that could summon them. They would show up to your table very quickly after you hit the call button to help you out with refilling waters, changing out the pan, or relighting your stove - whatever your needs are. I also loved that this KBBQ place was nestled in a building with two other Asian establishments. One was a bubble tea/shaved ice/coffee shop and the other was another Korean restaurant & bar! This was my first dine-in experience after the start of the pandemic, so I wasn't sure what to expect. I was excited to try a new Korean bbq place in the area. We received friendly, attentive service throughout the evening. Once we placed our order, the meat came within minutes. There was an adjustable fan right above each of the tables that helped absorb the smoke from the grilling - definitely helps keep the smoke odor off your clothes afterward. As is typical at a lot of Korean restaurants, it came with little refillable side dishes: the fish cakes had good flavor and texture, but were a little salty. The pasta salad with apples and mayo was tasty. The salad was okay, nothing too remarkable. I didn't eat the other dishes - I'm not a fan of kimchi. As far as the meats go, the top three were the marinated short rib slices (tender, juicy, good sweet and salty contrast), pork jowl (tasted like thin crispy bacon), and soy marinated chicken thigh (moist and flavorful). Not so good: the beef short rib (it was tough and chewy). The meal also came with a spicy soup (which was a bit too spicy for my taste) and steamed egg in broth (this was decent). I was definitely full and satisfied afterward. Since it's quite pricy, I'd probably only go for special occasions. However, I do look forward to the day I do return! read more

I always come here with about 4-5 of my friends and we normally share a combo plate. These come with so much food that the four of us can share it and be completely full by the end of the meal. This Korean BBQ place was excellent. We got to grill our food, have plenty of drinks from the beer tower, and good service. This place is like most Korean BBQ places I have been to with grills. You order your assortment of meats and get all the sides. Everything was good and other dishes we ordered like tofu seafood soup or seafood pancake were awesome. My main complaint is that the meat was not marinated. Some Korean restaurants do that some don't and some say they do but don't. Here the meat had to be dipped in sauce after. Please believe me when I say the premade nengmyun packet you get from the Korean store is by far superior. The mandoo tasted spoiled which we spit out immediately. Seafood pajeon was just weird. It was overly thick and cakey. Service could also improve but that was the least of my worries. We paid $53 for terrible "Korean" food. I appreciate the on demand service via the service button that you can press if you need a waiter. Online reservation process is a bit nit-picky. You can only change your reservation online 6 hrs prior to your reserved time. They also take your credit card info and there's a $15 fee per person if you cancel after the 6 hr time frame. The service here was friendly, attentive and quick. We ordered tteok bokki, egg, 1 spicy chicken BBQ. It comes with a thick ring of onion, a slice of squash and one slice of king mushroom. The banchans: kimchi, pasta and veggies, pickled radish with jalapeños, shredded radish, sliced fried potato, broccoli. We also ordered the soondubu jjigae and added kimchi. None of the banchans impressed me or made me want anymore of them at all. The spicy chicken comes with soy bean paste, some sweet soy and a salt sesame dip. Leafy green lettuce for the chicken BBQ wraps. The spicy BBQ marinade for the chicken was perfect, balance of spice and sweet and a upper cut of flavor punch. The chicken was tender and yummy, every bite of it too. They serve the chicken with the leg bone attached. Boned meat pieces retain more flavor like the Kalbi. The egg was rather watery but tasted decent. The tteok bokki was yummy and the rice was puffy, bloated and yummy. The gochujang sauce doe the ttoek bokki was on point. The rice was not as chewy and tasted as if it was maybe overcooked a bit, didn't have the consistency I always expect with Korean rice. It reminded me of uncle Ben's instant rice somehow. The soondubu jjigae wasn't the soup I wanted as it had clams and shrimp in it and thus tasted too fishy for my liking. So utterly filled to the gill, but well sated. read more
