    Greek Salad with grilled chicken
    Anthony B.

Working near 8 and Telegraph, this is a good choice for some solid generous portion lunches. I come a few times a year now, and I always get the Greek salad with added chicken. Very large and filling, with good toppings and dressing. Service is always good and attentive. Ambience is like that of a family restaurant. Clean inside which is very important. They must be doing something right for being in business this long.

Stopped by here after an early afternoon wedding. Being that it was early they were only serving light appetizers and cocktails, and we needed food. I haven't been here in years and it seemed like a great quick option. First portions are large so pack your appetite. I chose the sampler plate as my main since it had a variety. Cheese sticks, chicken wings, chicken fingers and a potato side (I went with broasted potatoes) flavors on everything was nice. Nothing was too salty or greasy. My only issue with this trip was our waiter. Very inattentive. Once he took our order we never saw him again. No check in while we waited, no making sure the entrees came out correctly, no ask about needing anything else, there even was no ask about a refill of drinks even until he came to drop the check off. We had to stop him again when he tried to run off and ask to place our dessert order (he didn't bother asking if we needed it wanted anything else). This was a bit surprising as we are watching the other members of the waitstaff kill it. While the food was good, this server really just ruined the experience for us.

Everything was amazing. Portions are large and flavorful. Not salty. So much deliciousness!

Nikola's keeps it going on every night in the dining room and carryout! Thank you Debbie for your service! Thank you for assisting my father with stationing his walker out of the way until we were ready to go. Handicap accessibility is important to us. The ample parking was great and we were able to park right near the carryout area where there was a small ramp to assist my dad with coming in from the parking lot. This was a wonderful dining experience for my family which consisted of five adults and one child. It was a great way to decompress after the presidential election that was conducted the day before with four generations around the table. Ages 1 to 83. All the dinners came with your choice of one hot side and one cold side plus garlic bread. Although I did not take photos, we have several tossed salads and coleslaws before our dinner and hot sides arrived. We had a ton of food on our table and our plates. We had ribs, shrimp, fried chicken, catfish, cod and chicken strips. For our hot sides, we had fries, broasted potatoes and sweet potatoes. We also ordered several cornbread sides. The portions were huge and the oval plates seemed to be not large enough to accommodate the food. We didn't mind because we all had takeout boxes for tomorrow. The kid's meal was large as well. They have many drink options which even includes smoothies. They have a large selection of desserts available. We were so full we took a few to go! We had carrot cake, German chocolate cake and NY Cheesecake. We hope to come back again on a Thursday night when they have live jazz.

In a nutshell... By far some of the worst barbecue ribs greens and literally macaroni and cheese... I believe the barbecue ribs are just oven cooked and maybe even boiled them grilled. Extremely cheap quality of meat. I will say on the upside they do have some really good chicken tenders but that's about it.

What happened to the food over the years. The last time I ate here was during the pandemic and I was in the area and wanted to find someplace to have a good home cooked meal that was reasonably priced. The customer service was on point but the food has definitely gone down over the years. The catfish was the only thing that was somewhat ok. The sides along with the rest of the food was disgusting. I expected bbq ribs and what I got was ribs that were greasy and tasted like they were cooked in an oven then covered with bbq sauce. The size of the battered shrimp was so disappointing when I bit down into it. I got a mouth full of fried batter before I got to the shrimp. And last but not least, Nikolas should absolutely stop serving Mac and Cheese immediately. What I thought would be homemade was actually a type of Kraft Mac n Cheese with real cheese mixed in and had noted flavor at all. The food was so disgusting that I could not bring myself to try any of the cold sides that came along with the meal that I chose. I will not be back and would not recommend.

It had the vibe of a garden party. There was a covered area, but seemed to have an event in it. I think it would be a perfect place for a baby/ bridal shower. Service here is STELLAR! There is a main server, an "assistant" to the server for each table, plus other staff members were very quick to step in and help at any moment. Our table was cleared immediately and wiped clean between courses. We were checked on multiple times throughout- not an annoying amount but perfect. The staff we spoke with were also very personable. We did start with one of every oyster but forgot a picture. They went through each so we would remember which was which from the menu, which was appreciated. They do have a special on oysters - $2 each Tues-thurs during happy hour (I think it is 4-6pm) The smoked sturgeon was phenomenal. I have never eaten sturgeon before and it had so much flavor. Not dry at all and the pickled veggies were a good touch for this. This also included the cornbread which I wanted to try but didn't want a whole side of, so this is a good 2 for 1! The monkey bread is a must order. We saw so many people with it at their table and had FOMO. Worth it. Just order it. My husband ordered one of the steaks on special. It was described as a salsa verde, but realistically it was more of a chimichurri on top. Cooked perfectly. I ordered the fish and chips which came crispy on the outside but the fish was still flaky and soft on the inside. It comes with coleslaw, which was just ok. It also had some crispy potatoes- I do wish this came with a different potato version. The potatoes were cooked really well, but just felt very dense next to a fried fish.

Bread and butter was brought to the table. The butter that came with the bread was very tasty. I really enjoyed the flavor. Naturally it did take a while for our entree orders to come out, but everybody's drink orders and food orders came out perfect temp and correctly. Our waiter was very down to earth and paid attention to the details of everybody's order. I ordered the Catfish Atchafalaya and that entire plate was scrumptious! It's always a busy time for establishments, especially when it comes to holidays, but we repeatedly kept getting seated and "unseated" (the hostess would seat us, but then take us back to common area as the tables were either dirty or not ready). I didn't personally care about this, but I definitely noticed my party getting a bit frustrated by the experience as it happened about 4 times before we officially got seated, which also exceeded our initial reservation time. The service itself was okay. I wish they would've come around a bit more as we were out of water while eating our meal, but I know it was super busy that day!! I ended up getting the soft shell crab sandwich and it was pretty good! I think it would be even tastier with more sauce on the bun, but overall a nice pick. I also tried the lobster bisque; it had a nice texture with the little lobster bits, but found it overly salty. Hush puppies were a nice, crispy texture and I loved the sweet butter with it! Sad to say we were truly disappointed. When we walked in there were plenty of open tables (about 7-10), yet we were stuck waiting for 30 minutes in the hallway of a strip mall. Finally once seated, it took the server another 30 minutes to greet us and come take our order. The plus was that there were already menus on the table. Once we placed our order, the wait was extremely long for some boiled shrimp in a bag. Tables who later came after us were already receiving food and fast service. The anticipation grew, as after so long we were presented with bibs, time passed, then presented with paper for the table, time passed, then finally our food arrived (another hour of waiting for boiled shrimp) I had the shrimp po boy and French fries, both which were pretty good. As we were ordering we tried to place a carry out order. In which, we were instructed to wait as it would be "best" to order closer to the time we leave. The waitress was rude and very soft spoken. Her demeanor was nonchalant and non welcoming. She disappeared and then returned once a hour to accommodate us but failed to check in on our experience. Overall, the food was okay. My friends didn't really enjoy the crab legs and shrimp. They stated it lacked flavor and tasted like straight butter. With our experience with seafood places, i agree with their concern. My first impression: Noisy! Lots of hard surfaces. Difficult to hear the hostess, server and my wife. The tables were appropriately spaced for diners and servers to work with no bump & grind. We started by sharing a dozen oysters and the pear/walnuts salad. The oysters were a bit small-ish; but otherwise, excellent. Server took a drink order from my wife, but skipped me. Eh? I flagged down another server to order a Pino. It took a surprisingly long time to arrive. On the plus side, I was offered a taste to insure it was satisfactory - it was. The pear salad w/walnuts was excellent. The pears were sliced paper-thin. One of the joys of eating a properly ripened pear is the juicy explosion and thinly sliced pears defeat the juicy explosion. If the pears were fully ripe, perhaps cube them? Weirdly; the two sides (mushrooms, potatoes) were served before the entrees. The server noticed, seemed surprised and withdrew the sides, returning with our entrees (lamb shoulder, steak). Then the side returned. Both entrees were warm-ish and the sides were hot. The 14-day, dry-aged steak was ordered medium-rare and was seasoned and prepared as ordered. Again; warm-ish, not hot. I expected better beefy flavor for a dry-aged steak. One end was a bit chewy. Tenderness improved as I got to the other end of the steak. I ordered it with horseradish. I will admit to being a weirdo who loves spicy horseradish (and wasabi) that will clean the sinuses - this was "Ohio-spice'd" horseradish ... not creamy, but less spicy than Arby's Horsey sauce. The mushroom and the potato sides were served hot from the kitchen. Both were excellent, no complaints. The presentation of the steak needs improvement. It was a properly prepared, lonely lump of brown, served on a white plate with cracked ceramic glaze. The lamb shoulder was the better entree. For some reason, my wife was expecting Middle Eastern seasoning. The menu did not mention Middle Eastern seasoning and she did not ask, so that's on her, not the kitchen. I thought it was excellent. Gripe: After the entrees arrived, our server did not return to ask if the entrees were satisfactory. She did return later to ask if we wanted a second round of drinks. We did ... We were offered dessert and ordered, but never asked if we wanted coffee or an after dinner drink. Both desserts were excellent. Will we return? Probably ... not. With tip; dinner for two was $286. At this price point I expect better: Less noise, better beef and flawless service.
