Stopped by here after an early afternoon wedding. Being that it was early they were only serving light appetizers and cocktails, and we needed food. I haven't been here in years and it seemed like a great quick option. First portions are large so pack your appetite. I chose the sampler plate as my main since it had a variety. Cheese sticks, chicken wings, chicken fingers and a potato side (I went with broasted potatoes) flavors on everything was nice. Nothing was too salty or greasy. My only issue with this trip was our waiter. Very inattentive. Once he took our order we never saw him again. No check in while we waited, no making sure the entrees came out correctly, no ask about needing anything else, there even was no ask about a refill of drinks even until he came to drop the check off. We had to stop him again when he tried to run off and ask to place our dessert order (he didn't bother asking if we needed it wanted anything else). Since the pasta salad is the standard side dish, better attention to flavor could be given to avoid guests not eating it and having most of it being taken away as garbage! I received 3 large, grilled pork chops. Looked good! Tastes terrible! Not even sure what type of meat this was! Never had pork that had the awful taste or perplexing texture this mystery meat had! Had a side of greens and it was decent, considering there's no "home cooked" flavor in anything I've ever had here. The best part of the meal was the Texas toast and I'm not even a bread eater! I think this place has lost sight of what a "home cooked" meal is supposed to be. Tried Nikolas for the first time tonight. We got the big shooter combo that consisted of 3 meats and two sides. We tried the ribs , broasted chicken and fried shrimps. The shrimp was the best of the three, great breading and great taste over all! The chicken was nothing special 3.5/5 not too greasy I appreciated that...but I was very disappointed with the ribs. They were cold , fatty and bland. I was most looking forward to the ribs and me and the wife were let down. Great garlic bread and sauce. Likely won't be back. Maybe try warming up the ribs if your plan is to serve something you cooked hours or days ago. Don't understand how these bbq restaurants serve reheated ribs it's wild and cheap. Cook them fresh if you're going to charge $25 plus for a slab. read more

Thank you for assisting my father with stationing his walker out of the way until we were ready to go. Handicap accessibility is important to us. The ample parking was great and we were able to park right near the carryout area where there was a small ramp to assist my dad with coming in from the parking lot. This was a wonderful dining experience for my family which consisted of five adults and one child. It was a great way to decompress after the presidential election that was conducted the day before with four generations around the table. Ages 1 to 83. All the dinners came with your choice of one hot side and one cold side plus garlic bread. Although I did not take photos, we have several tossed salads and coleslaws before our dinner and hot sides arrived. We had a ton of food on our table and our plates. We had ribs, shrimp, fried chicken, catfish, cod and chicken strips. For our hot sides, we had fries, broasted potatoes and sweet potatoes. We also ordered several cornbread sides. The portions were huge and the oval plates seemed to be not large enough to accommodate the food. We didn't mind because we all had takeout boxes for tomorrow. The kid's meal was large as well. They have many drink options which even includes smoothies. They have a large selection of desserts available. We were so full we took a few to go! All the sides made it to the nearest garbage can, if you gotta put ribs back in the oven when you buy them , you definitely know it's a wrap. Nicolas used to be my go to for great soul food, BBQ and dessert. My most recent dinning experience was horrible. I ordered the chicken wings ,my sides were sweet potatoes and baked beans. To drink I ordered lemonade. The food looked mouth watering. The portion were great. I must say that the food was not as good as I remembered it to be. The sweet potatoes had an artificial taste, the baked beans were fare. The chicken wings were cooked too hard for me, however it was just ok. After finishing the meal I asked for a carry out cup for my lemonade. This is were the problem developed. The waiter said that the owner no longer has carry cups. He offered me a bowl for my lemonade. He said that the owner no longer buys cup for a carry out beverage . The favorites among the group are the chicken,pork chops. I had their shrimp and ribs and liked those as well. Some others found the ribs dry but the staff insisted on making it right. I was too out done with this restaurant. I have been going there for years. I ordered a carry out I ask for broasted chicken potato and Cole slaw. When I came home looked in box now mine u they open close the box so fast u just assumed the order is correct. There were 4 little potatoes chicken with a lot of grease at the bottom. And last but not least, Nikolas should absolutely stop serving Mac and Cheese immediately. Nikolas has had my family's business since I was a little girl. The food is really good here as I usually order the ribs. Now I will say their sides are lacking. They also started charging extra for salad recently when you use to be able to pick it as a cold side. But over all I don't think their prices have raised too much over the years. I usually get the 5 bone special which usually has more than 5 bones. The boasted potatoes are where it is at. They unfortunately changed their fries from regular fries to seasoned fries and I'm not a fan of them. The French toasted bread is the reason I keep coming back. If you like chicken, their bbq chicken wings are really good too. Waitstaff has always been very good being there. I have never had a problem with them. The restaurant could use a little updating in the bathrooms, but over all it's a decent place. read more

Nikola's was one of my grandmother's favorite restaurants many years ago, but I haven't been here in at least 20 years. But tonight, I wanted to go to somewhere that I don't usually go, so I picked Nikola's. (My sister said it was my turn to choose since she chose last time.) I was very pleasantly surprised! We both ordered the Lumberjack chicken -- 3 good sized boneless, skinless chicken breasts baked with barbecue sauce, mushrooms, mozzarella cheese and topped with scallions. With entrees, you get a choice of one hot side dish, one cold side dish & a piece of garlic bread. We both got the rice pilaf and cole slaw. The portion sizes on everything were very large, and everything was good. I particularly liked the BOWL of rice pilaf. We both took home about half of our meals, and we had so much left over that it looked like we'd ordered carry out! Prices were very reasonable as well. The only thing that was subpar was the iced tea, as it didn't taste freshly brewed, but it wasn't horrible. We also noticed that, as the sun started to set, the lights came on in the restaurant, and it looked quite warm and attractive. Nicola's has a large menu with lots of choices so you don't actually don't have to just have barbecued ribs or barbecued pork. They have roasted chicken they have fish. Nikola's is a good place to dine in, and it's a great place to carry out. Dining in, the service is friendly, the dining room is warm and inviting, and the portions are generous. Carrying out, the food is fresh and hot and the portions are generous. Carrying out or dining in, the food is delicious. They make their own BBQ sauce, which they also sell by the bottle. I highly recommend the broasted chicken dinner for two, which is enough for two VERY hungry big eaters, or three to four normally hungry people. The ribs are also delicious, again go with the combo - the bread is yummy and so are the sides. And if you want dessert, anything Nikola's offers is worthwhile. read more

Mom orders these boasted wings that came out like the the chicken pump irons and placed first in one of those body building shows. Impressive and didn't need hot sauce. There were five boasted potatoes to equal almost one whole potatoe and slaw. She was all happy, ate a wing with a few other items plus had plenty left overs. The other two meals were ribs, chicken (one. Broasted and one bbq), five shrimp each and sides. Caesar salad with one and slaw with other. The shrimp were huge and good to go. Yum! The ribs are okay, we think those are boiled then grilled, and could use a bit more sauce. The broasted chicken is better than the bbq chicken but could go both ways on preference. A huge caesar side salad was a kicker to start. Overall, not disappointed especially since mom was good to go. I'm looking to try other items on the menu on the next visit. read more

My chicken was VERYYY pink! I could not eat it and I'm going to go out on a limb and say it could half just been the way they cooked it or the sauce which is kind of pinkish but I in no way was risking that stomach ache. The garlics bread was HUge and so delicious, side salad was yummy but the star for me since I didn't eat the chicken was THE BANANA PUDDING!! Service was quick and nice for a Friday evening, the area is pretty small, there's booth sections along with an open area dining maybe enough for 10 tables. They do offer Pepsi products which is a plus for me and you get platters of food along with big bowls of your sides. They offer 1 hot side with one cold side with your dinner plate and there's a small cost for an extra side. We enjoyed our meal and it was very tasty. The only downside is the potato wedges with skins on were over cooked and it looked like they could have made a better choice of their potato selection. I ordered the cod and shrimp dinner which was excellent, my husband ordered the ribs and shrimp, he enjoyed his meal. The price for our meal was no more than $15 - $20/per person. The dinner was HUGE, plenty plenty of food. We had the rib and shrimp dinner, it was my 1st time there and I was impressed with everything. The waitstaff was friendly and very knowledgeable, not pushy or hovering. The ribs were so tender yet was still attached to the bone, the sauce was thick and sweet yet tangy. You are able to choose 2 sides with each entree, I chose coleslaw which was finely chopped instead of large and chunky, all sides are large, I also ordered greens,The greens were wonderful and tender and flavorful. Baked beans was also ordered and it was a big bowl I was surprised to the amount of food. With the amount of food ordered you would think that the bill would reflect the amount but the bill was reasonable. 2 adults with soft rinks was under $50, they do offer alcohol beverages . Marshall was the server and he was great, he had patience and was very knowledgeable, he explained why there wasnt any musical bands booked( Staff shortage/ covid, they're known for the live music). The tables were clean as well as the seats, I can't stand when the waitstaff wipes the excess used food onto the seats. But not here! They're very clean, and was practicing social distancing all the while being able to accommodate large parties. A group event brought me here one week-night evening for dinner and a talk. The staff was so attentive and efficient. We were shown to the dining area and food was brought in hot and fresh. I got the 3 Piece Broasted Chicken dinner with a side of Baked Beans, a Tossed Salad and a very large hunk of Garlic Toast. The salad was a fresh and crispy as could be. The Greek dressing came on the side, and was ample. The Beans were hot and tasty. My dark chicken leg and thigh was great. Had enough left over to make a meal the next day.
