Found this spot in novi while doing a quick yelp search. I had high hopes for a fast casual Korean restaurant. Upon walking in, noticed the neon signage everywhere-- it's a cute touch. You order at a counter. I waited a bit as the person talking orders was also bringing food to customers and making bubble tea. When I ordered. I decided on the royal bulgogi and a brown sugar milk tea with boba. The drink was made while I paid. So I started with it. Sadly it wasn't up to par. ;(. The tapioca boba inside was hard, not chewy. The flavor was fine. But I wouldn't order it again here. Then my meal came out -- it did take a bit of time. I like that it had a variety of items - rice, noodles, a tiny salad and the bulgogi. That said, I didn't think it was near as good as other places I've been to. It was edible. But not amazing. Bummer. For $22 for a meal and drink, I would have hoped for more. But the only way to find out is to try. Not sure I'd come back. Maybe.... But I'd probably just get the noodles. read more

This place is perfect for a lazy Sunday afternoon meal, and you can't go wrong with any of the options on the menu. My husband loves their chicken pad Thai but thinks they changed their chicken tenders from real chicken tenders to a frozen tender, and aren't as tasty. I love a fatty, melt in your mouth, tender morsel so I got the pork belly and it was exactly that! There was a little too much kimchi for my taste but that's a good problem to have and it's called Kimchi Box after all haha! You order at the front and you seat yourself, and then they bring the food to your table. There's a soda fountain as well that you can serve yourself. I'm so happy that KB got pretty popular in Michigan. They have several locations throughout SE Michigan. We've been to this location several times but it had been awhile since our last visit. The menu items changed since they've open, but the food is delicious! We got a combo that included a bigger sized cup bap that includes: rice, spicy pork (you can choose other meats), salad, and japchae; popcorn chicken (or 3 piece wings) and a pop. Also ordered two bulgogi tacos, which was delicious! The bulgogi was a bit dry, but the slaw helped. The spicy pork is my favorite, along with the soy popcorn chicken. There is a self serve station of water, utensils, and barely tea (hot). The biggest change since our last visit was the interior decor. It almost feels like a pocha- bright neon signs, a bunch of posters, and open. We also noticed they added a few other options that they didn't have early on- katsu and ramen. Their food prices have became better as they have a lot of deals and you get a lot of food. They took away the purple rice was a bummer. This place was so great!! The popcorn chicken sauce was incredible. I got the popcorn chicken box which came with japchae (glass noodles), a salad, and fried rice! Haven't been here in a year and the place has a changed a lot. It looks more like a pocha place now like Nori Pocha which is a fun night time aesthetic. I really hate to leave a negative food review, but the kimchi pancakes weren't cooked all the way and were not crispy at all. They also didn't give any dipping sauce either it. The KCB pad Thai was very bland despite all the ingredients and spices listed. The katsu chicken was good though! I usually like the bibimbap at their other locations and the popcorn chicken is good. But unfortunately my friend and I don't seem to enjoy the food at this location. There is definitely room for improvement. read more

The chicken wings were freaking awesome. Even though I went when there were some water issues in the whole area they're the best of it and the service was great. The ramen is OK, but the wings really shine in this place. The ambiance is nice, the only thing missing is for them to serve beer to enjoy with the wings. I've gone multiple times, and I will keep going back to try different food options. Everything I've had so far has been delicious, so flavorful, reasonably priced, with large portions. I don't think you could go wrong with what you order. The employees are always so nice, and one of the workers remembered who I was because I went multiple times in one week haha. As you walk in, you see the restaurant is very basic. It's casual with no decor to speak of. You start your food experience by ordering at the counter. They provide a visual so you can understand what you are getting. I ordered Kimchi-jjigae and chicken bites. They handed me a number placard, and I sat down awaiting my food. Thankfully, my food came quickly. I ordered the Kimchi-jjigae( soup ), fried chicken bites, and a small bowl of rice, which came with the meal. The chicken was very crispy. I was disappointed because I ordered the chicken hot. I believe they gave me the chicken white man hot and not Asian hot. lol They gave me the incorrect soup. The soup they gave me was Korean Ramyeon Military soup. This soup is made with instant Ramen, a slice of American cheese, Spam, and smoked sausage. I am glad that they gave me the wrong order. My experience was absolutely phenomenal. I really enjoyed it how patient the staff was explaining the menu and how the restaurant worked. My only negative point would be the staff was unfamiliar if the items on the menu were vegan. And now as I arrive home after getting takeout. I'm starting to see that some of the items sauces and the dumplings possibly aren't vegan. However, my green tea was absolutely delicious and the staff was so welcoming and accommodating. I would just make sure to ask a lot of questions regarding if the menu items are vegan. read more

Paid $13 for their beef soondoobu soup, they literally only gave me half a container. When I complained about it they were not surprised and added a bit more. You order from the front and given a number tag. Once your food is ready, they bring it out to the table. The northville location was SO good that I had to get it near my work at the Novi location. The location is very efficient with their orders, the food is delicious, and the staff is friendly. The Seoul chicken sandwich is a MUST have. If you're looking at the bibimbap bowl, I don't recommend many adding noodles for the extra charge: you get a pitiful amount of sweet potato noodles that simply DOES NOT justify the price of the additional cost. Similar to a pink drink from Starbucks but with boba and a little creamier. I would most definitely get this again Potato dogs: filled with mozzarella cheese. Amazing cheese pull. This is one of those things I recommend trying once to say you did but they're not really tasty enough to get again. - don't get me wrong, I ate my entire skewer and enjoyed it. Kimchi fries: these were my favorite thing I had. They were perfectly crispy and the kimchi was great Chicken sandwich: I think this was with sassy sauce- it was good. Soft bun, big piece of chicken. I'd get this again and try another sauce Popcorn chicken: both pictures are of medium sized popcorn chicken. We definitely should've gotten small instead. It was crispy and tasty. First, we need to address the staff there: as me and my employee and I are patiently waiting in line two ladies ahead of us seem upset. They're passive-aggressive and start yelling at the staff saying, "we're on the clock, you stupid, hurry up!" (Door dashers). Then, they start yelling at the two ppl in another language. They then proceed to tell them, "I'm cussing you out in another language you never understand." A lady in the restaurant spoke that language (arabic) and told the ladies they were being inappropriate and interpreted as nicely as she could what the others had been yelling. The workers literally shook it off, apologized to us for the situation, and despite the awful slurs they were called, they just bounced back like nothing happened. That's the story of customer service and resilience these workers have. That alone deserves 5 stars, but wait.... the food... it's SO good. The guy at the front and another older gal gives us advice on what to order. They were right! Kicking chicken sando was the "best chicken burger/sando" my employee has ever had. The bibimbap bowl... oh em gee.... I smothered it in hot sauce and barely even tasted it bc i demolished it so fast -- it was SO delish. Mind you, I started off with a fish taco, which should be a meal all in itself it's so big. So I wasn't hungry but this bibimbap... good lort there should be an age limit on it it's that Good! This place is our go-to for a casual family lunch or dinner. The food is consistently delicious and you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Our go-to is the bi-bim-bop with noodles as the base, but you can also do rice, and the Korean fried chicken wings. My favorite sauce is the Korean Sassy but there's a bunch to choose from. It has been said, more than once in my house, that there are so many missed opportunities for a fast casual outlet of ___ food, with Korean being on top of the list. Many enticing items adorn the menu including my favorite comfort meal, Bibimbap. Theirs fits the bill with a warm bowl of their purple rice topped with a variety of pickled, fresh, and sauteed veggies and a perfectly fried egg at the center. Adding a generous amount of the sauce is highly recommended. My husband opted for the kimchi bento box to get a sampling of more offerings and, let me tell you, the chicken in that dish was out of this world. Crispy, sweet, tender, and just freakin' addicting. The only complaint I had is the restrooms were in a pretty rough state of disrepair and were out of paper towels, but they were clean. The food here is delicious, the service is friendly and efficient, and the dining area is tidy and open and I can't wait to try all of the other amazing items that I've seen in so many of my favorite dramas (looking at you tteok-bokki). read more

These wings are huge first of all! They are super crunchy and the skin is seasoned, flavor-able. Coming straight from the hot oil, we can give a thumbs up just for having been cooked to order, which is rare in this area of town. They are doubled fried so extra crispy. The soy and sweet/spicy sauces were good and that may have been what could take it to a 5-they were just good, nothing that stood out. But would I eat these again with maybe some of my hot sauce? They have new menu items: bowls! We ordered the Royal Bulgogi (bulgogi, rice cake, rice, noodle, salad, seasonal veggies) and Tofu Kimchi Bowl (tofu, noodle, rice, salad, fried egg). You can select a sauce on the side. The meat was a bit thick and tough. We enjoyed the bowls as there is a little of everything and it was tasty! The container is eco-friendly but the rice sticks to it. The bowls are all $13 each. Kinda pricey for the tofu as there were only a couple pieces. read more

Don't use grub hub for the delivery. GH charged an additional $30+ on top of the food order for our 4 staff members. We ordered more Kimchi Box for our staff today. 2 Bulgogi Bibimbap and 2 chicken BBQ for $57.24. A staff member picked up the order today. Grub hub robbed us of an additional $31.28 for our previous order, that's awful. Order directly from the restaurant and pick it up. This is our staff's new lunch spot. Brings a bit of yummy Korean into the week. Their bibimbap has a lot of good veggies in it. 3.5 stars rounded to 4. I have been to Kimchi Box multiple times, and their food is always very consistent. At this point I feel I know what my go-to dishes are always going to be! When going to a Korean restaurant, tacos may not be the first thing you pick off the menu but Kimchi Box does tacos very well. The spicy pork is in fact spicy, and has a lot of flavor. They are topped with dressed salad, and it adds another layer of flavor. The fish taco is always excellent as well, but they were sold out today. I would pass on the Bulgogi taco in the future, as there was not a lot of flavor coming through. All tacos have a generous amount of filling, and are served on two corn tortillas. My tacos mostly held their shape during the meal and did not fall apart. The Sassy Fries are always an excellent choice. The crispy fries are topped with mozzarella and spicy mayo, and the serving is definitely big enough to share. We did have a small order of wings, half soy garlic and half sassy sauce. The wings were extremely crunchy as expected, but there was very little meat on the bones compared to the amount of breading. In the future, I would choose the chicken sandwich with sassy sauce over the wings as there is more meat on the sandwich. We also ordered the Korean corn dogs, which comes 2 to an order. The filling is mozzarella, and the crispy outside is rolled in sugar. I would order again, but I wish there was an option to order a single corn dog instead of two. Finally, I ordered a side of rice for $2. This was a massive serving that can be shared between two people. The inside of the restaurant is pretty spacious. The menu is displayed on a screen when you walk in, and you order at the register and pay. Once your order is complete they give you a number to take to your table. Drinks are self-serve, and they offer water cups next to their drink dispenser which is always nice. A server will bring your food to your table. When leaving you are asked to bus your own table and return the dishes to the bin. Overall, I would definitely recommend Kimchi Box- especially for the spicy pork taco! The food items we ordered was very good especially the Japchae and the Korean style fried chicken. I would have given 5 stars if only the menu board was customer friendly. I'm the type who will be hesitant to ask the cashier and keep everyone in line while I can't decide to order. The menu was simple but needs more details/description be it in words or pictures. Most likely to come for their fried chicken coated with the other sauces. Definitely next time I will order the taro milk tea as my drink. Reasonably price. Not crowded on a Wednesday dinner time. We discovered it because we frequented Pei Wei and wanted to see if a new business occupied their old spot since we liked to come here for a nice Friday night dinner after a long work week. We were delighted to find a new place for our Friday dinners. Everything we tried was good. We had the Seoul mandu which is vegetarian, and so incredible. These taste exactly how they look, amazing. It comes with a tangy dipping sauce. We got a couple orders for potato corn dogs, they were out of the half fish sausage half cheese, but that was perfect, the kids do enjoy the all cheese (although we do buy both at the store for the household). We had a couple tacos, bulgogi and chicken, both good. They were not mind, but I tried them. We had a small order of soy garlic popcorn chicken. They were perfectly crunch and bubbly on the outside, slightly sweet, and well cooked on the inside. We also had an order of kimchi fries. I do not eat kimchi often but this was some of the best I have had. It went well with the fries, which were very cheese and had a nice kick to them. There is also barley tea which is nice, earthy, and hot. I thought the portions were good. Four people were eating, but we did have leftovers enough for two more meals the next day. I like a place with ample food so a family can share. This is the perfect to share since the mandu came with four pieces and the corn dogs came with two, plus the chicken and fries had a enough for four and the tacos are priced well enough to get a few to share. I see there are other locations, so I would be very open to trying them. I had to try this place because I am not entirely sure when it appeared in Novi Town Center and I notice businesses! Kimchi Box is a fast food atmosphere with fresh veggies and tasty Korean food. I had the Bibimbap with BBQ Chicken and actually received pork, which was also tasty. The thing I did not notice was that Bibimbap comes with an over easy egg atop the beautiful display of veggies and pork. Not being a fan of over easy eggs the very gracious waitress took my order back to the kitchen to lose the unwanted egg. After that the Bibimbap was excellent. I had the brown sugar tea and I was definitely not a fan of that but how do you know unless you try new things? So the atmosphere was interesting. It was loud like a social kitchen in that it's not intended to be fine dining. The staff were very gracious and friendly. It was super busy. I've been a regular customer at Kimchi Box for some time. The generous portion sizes and consistently delicious food have kept me coming back week after week. However, there has been recent changes that have taken this restaurant from great to just OK in my eyes. Biggest changes of note: Increased prices while decreasing portion size. The takeout boxes are much smaller than they used to be. Previously I could get two meals out of one Kimchi Box order but that's no longer the case. The new portion size will fill you up, but the value is no longer there. Quality of ingredients has also been impacted. Previously Korean purple rice was served in the Kimchi boxes but now it's just plain white rice. The rice included in my order today was extremely mushy. They also used to include a pickled item in the box and now it's hit and miss if that's included. Overall, the food is still good, but I may not be as frequent of a customer if things continue down this path. read more
