From the moment you walk through the door, you are welcomed by some of the friendliest, most accommodating, and genuinely lovely people imaginable. There was never a moment where they didn't go out of their way to help make our stay comfortable and memorable. Ray, especially, was exceptional. He was there every day making sure everything was perfect and continually went above and beyond to make our stay feel special and personal. The Manor itself is absolutely charming -- creative, warm, and filled with character. Everywhere you looked was a feast for the eyes, with thoughtful details and beautiful touches throughout. Now that my niece has graduated, we technically have no reason to visit High Point anymore -- but honestly, a return trip would be worth it just for another stay at the Manor. It felt less like staying somewhere and more like being part of something truly special.

The sound of the pretty fountain out front and of finches and other birds around the grounds is transportive as is the lobby's wallpaper, the loveliest textured bird pattern. Delicious chocolates greeted me upon arrival in my room, and tasty granola bars that appeared to be hand-made were provided to grab on my way out. So many little touches like that made Pandora's exceptional, and I wish that beautiful Manor another hundred years!

Our reservation was for 10:00 AM, which was when the restaurant opened, but when we arrived, we were told they were still getting ready. We were eventually seated, but then told the food still was not ready. Finally, around 10:30, we were told the buffet was ready. The food was just okay, and overall, I wasn't that impressed. Maybe the experience would have been different on a regular day with their normal brunch menu, but the Mother's Day buffet was somewhat disappointing. On the positive side, everyone we interacted with was very friendly, and Magnolia House itself is historic. There was something special about dining in a place knowing its history and knowing that so many great artists had stayed there. Overall, it was somewhat disappointing, but I am still glad I went.

We were seated promptly and had a very attentive waitress. They had just launched their spring menu and I feel that it had a good amount of pairings and different offerings. I was excited about the drink menu, but I felt let down by my drink. It was supposed to be a apple butter old-fashioned but I didn't taste any apple. That was a bummer the food however was amazing. I got the breakfast plate with grits, eggs, Home fries, a biscuit, and catfish. The portion size was huge. It could have easily been split with two people. I was thinking it would be a full piece of catfish, but it was more like catfish nuggets. It was well seasoned and flavorful. The best thing on the plate was the grits. They were amazing. They were super creamy, seasoned, velvety, and just great-10/10. They do offer tours of the property and we didn't get one because of time, but I would definitely love to see it in its entirety. The staff was great and I would definitely come again.

The Biltmore was a good stay for us overall. There are good and also challenging components, and…read moreit's important to be informed before you stay. Let's start with the good: The hotel team are friendly and thoughtful. The Manager, Brian, even allocated a dining room to me to take a long meeting, which was just awesome. Rooms are clean, and the hotel is charming. They are clearly leaning in on the old school vibe, and we were digging it. Considerations: The old elevator is super cool and vintage, but we took it only when required with luggage. Neat experience but made me nervous every time I used it. YMMV on this one! The hotel could use some upgrades and modernization which would mix old with new: Many switches with no connected lights, upgrade of in room phones and rework of electrical outlet options. The back steps are a bit steep, but it was not at all a problem for me and my husband on the 2nd floor. Finally, the location is terrific. Greensboro is not large, and staying downtown gives you access to all the areas. Biltmore is in an awesome spot. Try Natty Greeen's and Cheesecakes by Alex! They're literally around the corner. In summary: The hotel could use some freshening but it is super clean. The staff and vibe is very cool, and location is pretty great overall (down the block from Natty Greene's!).

And I implore the powers that be to keep that old elevator as is! Everything in our life does not have to be modernized. One stays here for the old world quaintness. My room contained a lovely four poster bed, wall full of windows and antique furnishings, as well as more modern amenities like a flat screen TV and coffee maker. The best part, though, is the fact that the location of this hotel is right where you want to be, steps away from all the food, coffee and bars on S Elm and a two block walk to Amtrak. There's a wine hour (and the gal at the front desk even offered to bring some out after I missed it) as well as breakfast (also missed that). I can't imagine staying elsewhere when in Greensboro.

A romantic getaway for those who love being cozy…read more Arrowhead Inn Bed & Breakfast is a overnight experience for you and your loved one. Pick from a variety of private buildings at different price points (though all are pricey compared to typical hotels) and enjoy peace and quiet while secluded in your private abode. I stayed with my wife at a deluxe cabin. We got in late at night, and with online check-in, we simply went directly into our cabin. The only time we interacted with a staff member was when they brought our breakfast in the morning. Every other interaction is done online or from outside your room. Accommodations are clean and modern. Despite the small space, there was a massive shower, a hot tub placed in the middle of the cabin which faced a huge TV and couch, a dining table, mini-fridge, and plenty of charging ports. The bed is on a second floor, which makes it a bit tricky to get to the bathroom downstairs at night, but Arrowhead thought ahead with stairs that light up automatically at night. The atmosphere both inside and outside our cabin was romantic, with plenty of bird and squirrel feeders to attract cute wildlife. Arrowhead is an expensive but worth it treat for lovers young and old.

Now....on to the best part....the Breakfast part of Bed & Breakfast! They switch each day between a savory and sweet meal, that is first accompanied with fresh fruit and pastry! The first morning we had a lovely egg and cheese quiche accompanied with little chicken sausages and a fresh cup of coffee/orange juice! The second morning, we had a French toast bake with a different type of sausage, and the third morning we had a scramble egg with asparagus and those little chicken sausages again....which was all delightful! For three nights, we spent upwards of $600 and the location is near Durham city center with fabulous restaurants and night scene! Quality: 4.5/5 Customer Service: 4/5 Value for cost: 4.5/5
