We got a table for the Bears game and ordered a few hundred worth of food and drink. AT LEAST. We ate it through the first quarter and beginning of the second. The manager came over and said if we didn't order more we'd have to leave the table. A) there was nobody waiting for a table. B) we spent more than all of the groups here. C) this is a sports bar and grill. We refused to order more and were kicked out. TV volume is set at 1%, and some of the worst tacos I've had. Riddle me how this place has lasted since 1919. This is a good option before/after taking a class at The Old Town School of Folk Music or if you want to grab something quick and not expensive before a show. There are definitely menu items to stay away from (any fish dish) and others that are always a 'hit' (any of the salads - they are large enough to split with another person or take for leftovers.) There is a nice large outdoor patio space that is a good option to grab drinks with friends and enjoy the nice weather. Staff have always been friendly and service has usually been quick. read more

Our party of four stopped here for dinner before a nearby concert. We sat inside and were greeted promptly. But after ordering, we waited an unusually long time before being served. We had to ask a server about our order, and he said he'd check into it but never came back, so we had to flag down another server, who was very apologetic and said our orders would be up soon. We all enjoyed our meals (burgers, patty melt, chicken sandwich), but I have to take a star off for service. Perhaps they weren't prepared for the large crowd, but they could have been more forthright about why our order was late. They did deduct our drinks from the bill for our troubles, which we appreciated. We would return, but on a less busy night. Waitress seemed like she didn't want to be there. The patio is cute so I had high expectations. I ordered the burger ($17) with fries. She asked how I wanted it. For the condiments I said the way it comes ( listed on menu said cheeses came on it.) I get the burger it doesn't have any cheese. I asked about it, waitress( no name tag so I noticed she had arm tattoos) said ..." you said how it comes" well we have 6 kinds of cheese you didn't specify which one. I said can you bring me a slice of cheddar on a plate? And some more iced tea please. I waited for at least 10 mins. She didn't bother to bring it so I asked another waiter I saw. He brings me shredded cheddar cheese. The burger was huge but not super tasty. It had onion and lettuce on it. The ketchup and mustard was on the table. Overall lunch was $25. If you're thinking about checking out Daily Bar & Grill in Ravenswood -- don't. They might call it a "pub and grill," but it's more of a restaurant that does last call at 10 p.m. and shuts down by 11. We were the last people at the bar during the Big Ten Championship, and they refused to turn the sound on for the game. The bartender said the owner doesn't allow anything but Chicago sports on TV... For what it's worth, there was only one other guy at the bar -- even he said the owner's the worst. The food didn't help either. Somehow they managed to ruin tater tots and quesadillas -- greasy, bland, and straight out of a bad freezer aisle. The music was awful too, completely killing whatever bar atmosphere was left. If you're looking for a place in Ravenswood to grab a late-night drink, watch a game, or get decent food, this is NOT it. There are way better spots within a few blocks that actually feel like they want customers there. Oh and the espresso martini was one of the worst I've had. read more

One of my favorite lowkey places in the city. My first experience was a quick drink while waiting for a table down the street-- they never actually served us so we wished we had just stayed here where things were actually running properly. A few months later, we were hangry and decided to give the food a try. We had some shockingly delicious jambalaya and a well above average cheesesteak. Now, I'd say we frequent the Daily every 6 weeks or so. If we lived in Lincoln Square, it would be a lot more often. Absolutely love it here. It's not fancy but it's so reliable. read more

We are going to make this our go to place in the square. Last night we had burgers,chicken nuggets and a patty melt. some of us arrived early but the staff quickly seated us asked if we had any needs and then checked once before everyone was there. Service was geat, food good. We had a special request which the waiter took as a matter of course...Yep we can do that no problem. But beyond that when the request was communicated to the kitchen the Chef asked the waiter to take a sample out to the table and show the substituted original just to insure there was no mistake. Went here on the staff retreat and actually like it a great deal. The food was great and I loved their patio seating option. I got the pesto pizza was a big enough position to take home from dinner. I tried the spicy cheese curds which was so yummy. Then I had the sunrise drink which was yummy as well. Would come here again. My family (husband, young adult kids) and I have been going to the Daily for over 20 years and used to love it. Until Covid, it was reliable for a great atmosphere, super fresh food and friendly, courteous service. However, in comparing scuttlebutt at a neighborhood gathering recently, some folks grumbled that our beloved go-to was on a downhill trajectory. Not to be daunted, I persisted in thinking I'd have better luck. Regretably, however, I went in there a few nights ago with a couple friends and found that just walking in the door was a real downer. The music was blaring with an ethnic soundtrack not commensuate with a Lincoln Square sports bar (a couple games were on the TVs over the bar, but with commentary muted) and conversation with my companions was difficult to hear. Though there was only a handful of customers sprinkled around, the staff was kind of huddled at the far end of the bar and didn't acknowledge us for several minutes, until I went over and asked that one of several vacant booth tops and seats be cleaned off. It was disheartening to see that one of those seats that had developed a small tear in the leather many years ago was now the size of a rather disgusting huge gash that just looked liked the proprietor didn't care or have much respect for the clientele. The food was still decent but the prices aren't particularly friendly. As one reviewer put it, who cares if the portions are large if the food isn't all that, and the service is downright awful and the ambience is pretty darn dingy. Such a bummer. I hope the owner gets serious about pulling the Daily back together before it goes the way of other businesses that have closed along this popular Lincoln Avenue strip. read more

We prominently order our drinks, appetizers and entrees as soon as the waiter came to the table. The app came out pretty fast, yet our drinks didn't. My wife's drink came out right before the entree and finally halfway through my beer arrived and I was told it was the last of the barrel and it was flat. Daily Bar & Grill is unfortunately just not a great spot to get food from. Tried it a few times. First time was okay. We got a chicken caesar salad (as a wrap) and fish and chips. Felt kind of expensive for what we got. They charge extra on modifying sides and stuff like that which is annoying. Food was 3/5 stars on its own. The second time we went our order was messed up, and the service there seemed really flustered even though the place was only half full. Drink selection is fine and typical. The inside of the restaurant is nice and familiar if you like the bar/tavern atmosphere. Also, they seem like a business that doesn't stay up to date. Trying to call in a pick-up order, we were greeted with an automated message about outdated covid restrictions and hours, and it took a long time to talk to a person to order. There are lots of better nearby options for this type of food, and I don't think we'll be back any time soon. read more

Add-ons are pretty pricey considering how expensive the burger is already -- 2 more bucks for a slice of cheese, another 2 for basically a spoonful of chili -- but still, I'd come back for sure if I were in the area again. I also appreciated that there were various games on the numerous TVs but that they were silent or really low and music was still playing. The Daily is not a place I generally crave. They serve diner food, and some menu selections are much better than others. On my latest visit, the first in years, my friend and I shared the fried pickles, which were very good (and came in a GIANT portion size even though they were labeled "small bites," ha ha). My friend had a salad for her entree which looked very good and which she said she enjoyed. I chose a non-healthy dish, the grilled cheese and fries, which was my bad. The grilled cheese was boring and greasy and I only ate like four of the fries because I didn't care for them (in fairness, though, I brought them home for my husband and he loved them). I also had a glass of Sauvignon Blanc, which was surprisingly fantastic. Service was also fantastic. We ate inside because it was too cold to be on the very nice and spacious patio behind the restaurant. Overall it was a decent experience, but maybe you understand why I never crave the Daily, LOL. read more

Daily Bar and Grill has one of the best patios on the north side. This is especially appreciated as restaurants slowly reopen after the Covid-19 closures. Although Daily's hours are limited (4-8pm on Thursday when we arrived), we had a very good experience. I recommend Daily Bar & Grill to anyone who likes good bar food, efficient service, and a comfortable outdoor atmosphere. Us three old(er) ladies arrived at 4:30pm. You can get your menu on paper, read it on the wall, or look online. Because we are old(er), we like paper. We each had a drink; I had a delicious vodka lemonade, perfect for al fresco dining. My friends had a Heinekin (boring, but still good) and a margarita (yum!). I had the black bean burger (no cheese) with the sweet potato fries, a glorious, messy, tasty meat-free burger. Get extra napkins when you order this. One friend had a classic patty melt, which she demolished. The other had the Susan's Apple Walnut salad - highly recommended! If you're looking for good bar food, look no further than the comfortable plaza at Daily Bar & Grill. I only have one wish; that they would offer more vegetarian, or even a couple vegan, selections. That would encourage me to put Daily Bar on my regular rotation. However, they seem to be doing okay with me and mine only coming occasionally. Do call ahead and check the hours. Also, be aware that there are limits of 6 people per party, and two hours per seating. No reservations -- it's first come, first served. read more

It was a lazy evening and I was in the mood for takeout, so I did what I knew what to do best; order uber eats. Boy did Daily Bar and Grill not disappoint! I ordered the jambalaya and crispy tator tots. The food was delivered quickly and it was very fresh. They gave you portions that was big enough for two people and can last for several meals. The jambalaya was good. I was pleasantly surprised at how flavorful it was. They also didn't skimp on the protein. The tator tots were decent too. I had tator tots for dinner, breakfast and snack. Daily bar and grill definitely broke my streak of having decent or just subpar uber eats meals. I look forward to continuing to order from here and trying other items on their menu. read more

I returned here after just a couple days. The food is still great and I will eventually work my way down the menu. I reduced my rating from 5 to 4 because the waiter messed up my order despite the fact that I pointed to it directly and my friend repeated it. They use a wireless tablet system instead of paper pads so perhaps I received the wrong order due to a typo. His tablet was efficient in that it told us immediately that my first choice of entree was out of stock. How does a bar and grill run out of fish and chips? That's for the owner's to work out. On to the food... My food was good, and the fries are still superb. My friend ordered the chicken pot pie and I was very envious: It's the size of a dinner plate and topped with flaky looking crust that was golden brown. My friend gradually ate the whole thing but it took two hours. If the quality of the food wasn't fantastic I'd give them a lower rating. Maybe go back to paper for taking orders and fix your inventory management system. I'll return. read more
