I am a huge coffee fan, and I love local coffee shops. The Daily Grind does not disappoint. I have only had their drip coffees, but my husband has enjoyed their lattes. Growing up in Brooklyn, NY I know a good bagel when I taste one. Yesterday, when I ate a lightly toasted sesame bagel, I thought, "Wow, they must have gone to Brooklyn to get these!" High praise from a Brooklynite. As one might expect, it is a busy place and sometimes there are lines, but they move along fast. There are nice tables outside, and plenty of room inside. And,,, a dog door, so you can get your coffee fix while walking your best friend! Love the Daily Grind! read more

Daily Grind wasn't on our usual Fells Point strolling loop but we were in search of an indie coffee shop after walking off our dinner. Fantastic coffee -- barrista didn't bat an eye when I asked for 1/2 decaf and 1/2 dark roast (wanted to sleep that night but love my dark roast). They were getting close to close so no 1/2 n' 1/2 on the fixin' area but she kindly gave me a full bottle when I asked. Excellent coffee, just how I like it. We sat in the back and enjoyed the ambiance -- sort of like a crumbling old courtyard (2 old brick townhouses had been joined but the innards were protected by a vaulted high wood ceiling with skylights. I enjoyed the rustic brick walls, windows with window boxes, and the feeling I'd stepped into another era that had wireless and laptops. I liked seeing the sprinkling of late night customers tapping away intently on their laptops. Surely great works were being created. The signs on the outside doors of the bathrooms were scary (essentially things about how to properly flush w/o it overflowing and where men should and should not deposit of their bodily functions). The interior lived up to this expectation and were graffiti covered, lacking papertowels, and generally unclean. This somehow added to the overall vibe, but I think I'll stick to the coffee when I come back. My sense is this would not detract from the experience of the younger clientele and that it is only us older set who might find it unsavory. Grungy but very good. I like Daily Grind. After all, I'm there for the coffee and a place to enjoy sipping it, not the bathrooms.... read more

Nice cozy coffee shop friendly staff. The lattee I had was excellent barista even did a little lattee art. The food was very nice as well. Internet is great they actually have to access points one for the front of the store and one for the back. I have returned several times while staying in Baltimore. read more

The iced chai latte was pretty bad. It was like drinking iced milk with a subtle chai flavoring. Maybe their coffee drinks are better, but I won't be going back to try, as I found the woman sitting outside (possibly the owner or manager?) to have an unwelcoming demeanor. She asked me to pull my dog out of the sidewalk plot that she was sniffing, which I was happy to do, but the manner in which she asked was so condescending and unfriendly. I wouldn't go so far to say that she was rude or mean, but personally I'd rather support genuinely friendlier business owners, of which there are many in Baltimore. I want so badly to like you, Daily Grind. You're in a great location, and I LOVE coffee. But you're too consistently disappointing... Coffee tastes like a foot, sandwiches are dry and underwhelming, and everything is so sticky and stained, I am not sure you've ever properly cleaned the interior of your space. Employees are very aloof but hey, you come to expect that from baristas in any city. You get the extra star purely because you're close by. I'll stick to modern cook shop for my coffee shop needs from now on, though. read more

This place is great to drop-in and get some work done on a lazy Saturday morning. Last weekend, I ordered a coffee and joined the masses of students hunched over laptops and textbooks in the back of the shop. The coffee was pretty good, and I can't complain about the prices. Great place to grab some coffee on the way to work or if you just want to sit down with a cup and read the paper. A fun people watching place too! The coffee is from local Key Coffee (or did Key change names?)...anyway it's good. A good assortment of lite breakfast fair: bagels, muffins, etc. I've heard the lunch sandwiches are good too. Daily Grind has the ideal coffee house atmosphere. It smells amazing when you walk in, theres plenty of seating, and theres awesome artwork and cool sliers talking about what's happening in Baltimore littering the walls. There is no shortage of seating, with cozy tables and booths throughout. Its the perfect place to get some work done or read a book. The location on the water is also ideal. I found this place on a cold walk one day and it was exactly what o needed. Hope I get the chance to stop by again soon! read more

This is a nice little coffee-house, and the outdoor seating is a welcome. it's always very clean and well organized when I visit, and I noticed them cleaning the machines more than once, for me this is very important when it comes to dairy products. The treats and donut type items aren't bad, but that wouldn't be the only reason I came, I go for the coffee. I would rate this coffee, the simple daily blend, as I don't drink much in nthe way of coffee drink, better than Starbucks. Plus, it's a small business, and I prefer to support local when I can. read more

I ordered the pesto turkey sandwich and it turned out to be pretty good. I had been to the Daily Grind for coffee many times in the past and their coffee is just average. My friend's egg sandwich had hair in it and they were out of bacon.....hence the two star rating. Better places to find food and even coffee in Fells Point....but a good atmosphere and chill out environment saves this locale from a lower rating. read more

This is my go to coffee spot in fells. I live in the area and come here often. The coffee is reasonably priced as opposed to others in the area ahem *Pitanga* ahem. The staff are friendly with a good attitude. The amenities are clean. The baked goods are good, nothing spectacular, but I come here for coffee and to get work done. Great location, classic hipster coffeehouse atmosphere, but strictly average coffee. If you like your coffee Starbucks-style - e.g. roasted to within an inch of it's life - then go for it. Or if don't know from good coffee and just want a hip place to show off your shiny new macbook, well, they have free wi-fi. Otherwise, there are better places to get a good cup of coffee in Baltimore. read more

THe tea is good and hot, but then again how do you screw that up? Was here recently catching up on some work. My chai latte was good and was put in my hand about 45 seconds after ordering. I like the atmosphere enough, but the service wasn't super friendly. It took about 15 minutes to get connected to the internet, which when I asked, was the same for the person sitting next to me. If it wasn't for the obnoxious crowd, particularly one fellow reliving his drum solo for the entire back room, I would've stayed much longer. Am going to try this place again and update my review because I was definitely soured by band dude's performance during my "DAILY GRIND" WORK TIME! read more

Very large space - perfect for studying, catching up with someone, working on med schools apps (...), what have you. The coffee is excellent, the service is quick and friendly, and the location can't be beat. Will definitely frequent this cafe when I need days to work on my laptop and get stuff DONE. read more

Love to come study here - great drinks (my favorite is the dirty chai), plenty of space so you don't feel claustrophobic, I never have trouble finding a table, and free wi-fi! They also have food that is pretty good for a coffee shop. I wish they were open later! read more

Coffee and other beverages here are pretty good. I have more of an issue with the actual space they are in. First of all, it's pretty hard to find a place to sit during the day. they do have free wi-fi which is definitely a redeeming factor. Here's the big problem: no matter how much they try, why do their bathrooms still smell so bad? If you sit next to the bathroom area (which you might have to do given the difficulty in finding seats), everytime someone goes in or out, a waft of that nauseating odor comes right out. Also, half the time the tables there have some sticky film on them that just makes it feel gross when trying to study. finally, it can get pretty distracting to study here, as the staff don't seem to mind making as much noise as possible. I can handle most annoyances, but it gets a little frustrating when they run and clamber to the 2nd floor for more cups or something else, making as much noise as possible, slamming the door whenever they get the chance, and seeming to take as many trips as humanly possible. read more

This was my second (and likely my last) visit to The Daily Grind. The coffee was good enough but the service was horrible. With the exception of the guy with the ponytail, who both times has been very nice, smiled, gave suggestions on beans, etc., the staff was horrible. They were impatient with the customers and each other. The place was pretty dirty, bathrooms were really bad... I was also surprised to see the cheap processed cheese on their sandwiches. It's a shame to see a coffee shop with so much potential (e.g., great location, cool space) turn out to be such a disappointment. The only reason I didn't give a 1 star was because the coffee was okay and there was one nice worker. I hope that the owner invests the time and training to develop a better staff, because I honestly don't know why people would want to give their business to a shop where the staff seem to be hating their "daily grind" and people in general. read more

Coffee shops are always 3-5 stars, except when you have rude servers. I have been to the daily grind many times and it was always ok. Today, As I was walking my son in a stroller I attempted to purchase a coffee at the door they have open to Thames street (the door was open on this beautiful day). They wouldn't serve me and told me to come inside because I didn't have a dog. I told them I was good without a coffee. Response, "I don't consider children an animal." Since I live in fells, will ensure friends use other coffee shops in the future. read more

This is a fantastic spot. It has way more space than you would think and the coffee is pretty good. I love coming here to work and meet up with friends. The only reason I give it a 3, is because the employees are often introverted or unfriendly. Little eye contact, no smiles, and they sound disgusted when I ask a question. I don't want to feel like I'm bothering someone when I'm ordering a coffee. This isn't a one-time occurrence, I feel this way every time I come here, which is often. Their outdoor tables were a solid place to sit through the earthquake last year and to take in the ensuing excitement, especially after confirming that tsunamis are unlikely in this area. The outdoor tables are also great for a young adult waiting for the appropriate time to own her first dog, and making up for it by petting other dogs as often as possible in the meantime. They have a special door for people accompanied by dogs and a water bowl for the dogs. The people who work there are nice and chill, letting you sit and work or read at one of their many tables all day. They have good iced coffee and a good selection of teas and baked goods - with or without gluten. Perhaps they've cleaned up their act with the bathroom since other reviewers commented; I found the bathroom entirely clean, if strangely cold. I am giving the Daily Grind five stars, despite the truth to the weak wifi reviews, because it is so hard to find a place to work all day with a good atmosphere, good snacks, and a good staff. read more

The restrooms are filthy. Signs said for customers only but staff gave keys to homeless non paying guys who occupied men's room for over a half hour. I like coming here to study and apparently other people do too since its almost always full of people like me. I like sitting in the back with big substantial wooden tables underneath the skylight, looking out onto the courtyard. Sometimes there's a crazy man at the door who says "You looking good!" which is actually quite charming. Staff kind of ignores you, but hey- that leads to the isolated atmosphere of the Grind. Good Chai lattes and they carry pie from Dangerous. What else could you ask for? read more

Daily Grind is just okay. The location is nice, but the coffee and sandwiches are just mediocre. It's nice to have local cafe choices. This one just isn't worth a second trip. There are other cafes in the city I would recommend first. But it could be worse. It could be a Starbucks. read more
