Amazing ice cream. My favorite was the cherry and mint chip. The portions are huge

Good old fashion, walk up ice cream joint located a little outside of town. We were craving ice cream at 9:30 and realized Dairy Dayz would be closing soon so we rushed over and got in line. They were SWAMPED... at least 20 people ahead of us in line. The girls working inside did a magnificent job of working fast and efficient. We were to the front and ordering in no time! So the ice cream.. yea they don't mess around. IT'S HUGE! I added a flavor burst of orange to my vanilla cone and it tasted like an orange push pop. If you have an ice cream addiction like me, you have to do yourself a favor and go this place immediately! I've already recommended it to a few friends going up to the area for trips and they have all tried and had rave reviews. It's very reasonably priced and you definitely get your money's worth! I've even had their food and can attest that the hot dogs are pretty darn good too. I wish I had a reason to buy a cake while I was up there, because I saw them in the window and wanted to put them in my belly! I'm a tradionalist with my ice cream, especially soft serve. I just want chocolate vanilla twist. However, I saw someone with a cone rolled in sprinkles and someone else with one rolled in nuts. So I got mine rolled in nuts and it was an excellent decision. The nuts and sprinkles options aren't written on the menu, but just know you can get it! I love the colors of the flavor swirls, but I don't much like fruit flavored things. So I just enjoyed looking at other people. The staff is amazing, very friendly, and work hard to ensure all customers are served. Even on the busiest, hottest, of nights right before closing. They will keep working until everyone is served. I wish there were more tables outside to sit out to eat. There are only about 2 which are usually quickly taken. We were pleasantly surprised, big selection for a small place, and the ice cream is great. If you remember the old days, before Dairy Queen expanded, you had corner ice cream places like Tastee Freeze with soft serve ice cream. That's the type of place this is! So it's definitely worth a try if you're in the area. The sizes are BIG, I ordered a medium cone, and would order a small next time. Too much ice cream! LOL! Reasonable prices, too, unlike most ice cream shops with $6 scoops. They also offer "Dole Whip" which is their non-dairy ice cream, twists (see photos), and more! read more

Try the ice cream sandwiches! We kept them in our freezer all vacation! Crowd favorites were the coffee/mocha and the chocolate with nuts (maybe called nutrageous?) Chicago dogs were great, too. Great location for the neighboring campgrounds. read more

I've stayed in the area on vacation the last two years, and originally didn't think this place looked so great just driving by... boy, was I wrong!! This is one of the best ice cream stands I've been to. Great quality & HUGE portions. The flavor selections are vast & innovative. You gotta try the hot fudge malt shake - outstanding!! Butter pecan, raspberry, cherry, butterscotch, double-chocolate with cashews.... you could come here twice a day for 3 weeks and still not have everything on the ice cream menu (but you'd need to bring some extra pairs of fat pants). Don't miss their homemade ice cream sandwiches, too. You can also get ice cream cakes in the shop next door to the stand. Didn't get a chance to try the food menu, but it looks good, as well. Only complaint is that I wish there were more tables & seating to sit and enjoy - the place can get crowded and there are only a couple of places to sit. Lots of parking area, though. Dairy Dayz and I go way back. I have been coming here since it was Dairy Dock. And let me tell you, this place just keeps getting better! It is a great value and the selection of frozen delights is outstanding. The key lime flurry is possibly my favorite treat...with the dole whip coming in at a close second. Even though it was 45 degrees outside (right before Memorial Day weekend, for goodness' sake), I had to have some ice cream. Every place in town was closed at 5pm, so we drove out to Dairy Dayz. I had a Butterfinger flurry (blizzard, blast, etc. at other places) and it was awesome. My only mistake was getting a large, as I didn't need that much ice cream. Fair prices and friendly service - can't ask for a whole lot more from an ice cream joint. read more

The shop is confusing! We walked into the front of the store and saw the menu posted behind the counter, but with the font being so small it was hard to read until it was your turn to order. The lobby had one small self serve freezer and that was it. We were expecting to see ice cream cases, but they were no where to be found. Kinda strange! We later learned there is a side walk up window where the ice cream is stored. We had the soft serve cone and and it was good! Nothing special, but good. read more

My family loves this place !!! We started coming for the giant and unique soft serve cones. They have an inner of sizes, all of which are sized generously. They have flavors that can be added to the edge of the swirls. We also like the food. Chicago hot dogs, cheese fries, onion rings, cheeseburgers- all yummy !!! And did I mention the prices are very reasonable ? Family of five ate lunch and had ice cream cones after for $40 read more

the hours coulda be a bit later, i would like some late night ice cream during my tv show binges. but hopefully that'll change in the summer. other than that the prices and sizes are OUTSTANDING!! i get a huge ice cream cone for so cheap! i fill up with an itty bitty size for only a dollar! add sprinkles for .65 cents;) the people there are very nice as well and for driving, the entrance is very nice. bright colored building!! read more
