It was laced with the thickest, most delicious and dreamy marshmallow cream, bananas, cookie crumb bits, so much goodness packed inside of one little cup! My only regret is that I hadn't saved more room after my dinner to allow me to try a waffle cone! They advertise fresh, homemade cones! We came here w/my wife, 2 brother in laws & 1 sister in law. After DeGrandchamps we had lunch and no one was hungry. I suggested Sherman's but they said they weren't hungry. I still wanted to go here & after we got here all of a sudden everyone wanted ice cream. I heard they changed owners but they still have the generous portion sizes. We got 2 butter pecan baby scoops & 3 pistachio scoops. As usual there was a huge crowd present but they cycled through pretty quickly & everyone was happy. Even though there was a brief closure & reopened under a new owner the quality & portion sizes are very good. They have excellent thick ice cream. My favorite ice cream brands have been long established, but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to try another take on birthday cake ice cream as it's one of my favorites. I don't see limited edition anywhere on the packaging, but I believe this is a new flavor to celebrate the company's 100th anniversary. Their celebratory frozen dessert utilizes a white cake batter flavored ice cream base with pound cake pieces, rainbow sprinkles, and an abundant blue frosting swirl. The cake flavor of the ice cream was spot on, but what takes things up a notch is the blue frosting. It's super sweet, bountiful, pretty thick in some areas, and it's easy on the eyes. While the vibrant frosting swirl provides most of the color, the rainbow sprinkles supply a pleasant crunch that contrasts nicely with the smooth ice cream. Besides the cake flavor, frosting swirls, and rainbow sprinkles, every top tier birthday cake ice cream needs one more ingredient, actual cake pieces. Initially I was concerned the pieces were not numerous enough, but the more of the container I ate, the more the pieces balanced out. Additionally, the pieces are fair sized hunks and not tiny bits. The chunks have a nice texture and pleasant cake flavor. Admittedly, this is only the third flavor I've tried from Hudsonville, but it takes the cake.
