Love you so much! Great food, service, and ambiance. This place just never misses! I love avocado & sun dried tomatoes so this place definitely has my heart. Will be back again and again

This place is simply okay. It was quick and relatively cheap -- and they have a nice outdoor seating area. I definitely wouldn't rave about the food or anything, but it is hard to go wrong with a toasted chicken sandwich smothered in cheese with a pickle on top. The chips were probably just out of some bag, but they weren't bad either. Obviously nothing crazy. This place also has a fairly large menu so it's safe to assume that there is probably something for everyone here, so that's a positive.

I stopped here for lunch. I got the avocado melt, which came with lots of fresh veggies on a perfectly pressed panini. My dining companion got the lobster roll. I had been eyeing that was well, but they said it's only a percentage of lobster and mixed with fish. She enjoyed it, but compared it to a tuna sandwich. Service is friendly and quick. The place is small, but cozy and clean with a patio. A good lunch option.

I saw that they had Affogatos on the menu and had to stop in! It was delicious, several Gelato flavors to choose from. I was checking out the rest of the menu while waiting and I regret that I had already eaten lunch! They had a huge variety of delicious looking food. Very nice service, cute little place!

Incredible food that I'm Gibbs dream about for a few more nights yet. I had the walleye, my fiancée had the pot pie (called something else on the menu; I forget exactly what). She only didn't finish hers because she eats like a bird, but I finished hers even after I'd inhaled mine. I came even describe the flavors (except to say the horseradish mixed in the potato top of the pot pie is inspired!) I will just say that each bite hit the sweet, savory, and salty notes just right all at the same time. Can't forget to mention: the service was lovely. Our server was very kind, personable, and relaxed, and she offered us great recommendations, and boy am I glad I listened. I can't recommend this place enough. I hear the James Beard nominations may be snooping around, and they'd be right to.

What I can say - The service was wonderful, my food was quite tasty, and the waiting area outside was absolutely delightful (I honestly would have preferred to dine there and in hindsight I should have expressed a preference to dine outside if I had known better). However, the driveway to enter the business parking lot has a HUGE pothole making it very hard nay impossible to navigate if there are any vehicles leaving the parking lot simultaneously. And the restaurant itself is adorable but VERY loud and cramped. I had my chair pushed in as far as I could comfortably do, but was constantly being bumped by servers and patrons trying to navigate to the single stall bathroom. When trying to leave there were dozens of cars parked on the side of the highway, blocking any visibility and making it hard to safely pull out of the driveway when time to leave. Now, the food was delightful and I found the mushrooms in particular a perfect blend of salty and woodsy, a light delicious addition to the meal. The sausage was exquisite and I could find myself craving them in the future. My rye bread was not as flavorful as I have come to expect when requesting rye bread and the slices were really quite thin. My wife also reported her hash was delicious. My friend enjoyed her croissant sandwich. And the soufflé pancake looked incredible, though arrived several minutes after the rest of the party's food so was scorching hot coming out of the oven while our food had cooled to room temperature. I would love to see the restaurant continue to grow out of these pains and I hope others can come and enjoy it, but I had a less than stellar experience and unfortunately despite the kind servers doing their best to make this a positive experience, I do not plan to return.

I'd come across them while doing my HW for the trip, but without really knowing the area, I'd thought that staying in South Haven meant I wouldn't get the chance to visit, but after stopping in to The Flying Saucer in South Haven and picking up their beans there for the house, I learned everything is kinda close on this part of the coast! This is their main location, right in the heart of Saugatuck. It's cozy and colorful, warm and inviting, and filled with some incredibly sweet people. Oh yeah. They have A LOT of great coffee too! Their specialty and seasonal drinks all sounded delicious, but I'm a purist in pursuit of the best cup of black coffee, here for the single origins and blends that are sourced and roasted by this skilled team. Walking in I was faced by a massive wall filled with beautiful bags of beans from all over the world, each labeled with notes on origin, processing and flavor profile. I set my sights on a pour over and when the cashier said I could choose anything from the wall, I was gobsmacked (that's a funny word). The range was so impressive, with great representation from all over the world, processed in all different ways, making the choice quite difficult. It's a good thing I used my time in line to look at all of the options, and I settled on a white honey processed coffee called Villa Sarchi, which was delightful. If I have one quibble it's that they didn't have an actual pour over menu and this is simply because I enjoy asking the baristas about the coffees. This spot is super hot, with a line out the door at all times, so despite the barista at the counter being incredibly accommodating, I couldn't in good conscience hold up the patrons behind me with too many questions or returns to the wall. I also tried their espresso lime tonic for a beverage to stroll with and enjoyed the slight sweet and tart drink very much on a hot day. Uncommon also has a great menu of food offerings and we had a bagel breakfast sandwich and one of their MASSIVE savory scones. I wish I'd asked or been asked about warming the scone because it definitely needed it, but holy hell this thing was packed with cheesy goodness and the perfect foil to my naturally sweet coffee. Normally I go home with one bag of coffee as a souvenir, but I couldn't help but buy two, which were in addition to the beans I also bought in South Haven! In total I think I sampled about 5 different Uncommon roasts and loved them all! I loved this place so much I looked to buy merch, but sadly they had run out of the sizes I needed. There's always next time. Or maybe they'll ship...

Very much looks the part, but was left wanting a little more tbh…read more First off, vibes wise: amazing. Beautiful old house converted to a coffee shop with a dreamy garden in the back. Incredible. Coffee wise: fair. I ordered a few specialty summer cold brews for my wife and I and they were tiny, and my wife's was well-made with cold foam and cinnamon, but mine barely had a dollop (I gave her the good one, aren't I a nice husband?) I got a black coffee on my second visit and it wasn't very good. Service: friendly but slow. I was SO glad to have pitcher on pitcher of cold brew back at the AirBNB so I didn't have to wait. The times I came, this place was popping and it (expectedly) took some time. Hours: I was out for an early morning walk in the six o'clock am hour and several other middle-aged to elderly people were circling like vultures waiting for their caffeine fix. I feel like in peak season bumping hours to 6 or even 6:30 might do numbers for them. Food: I ordered a buttered bagel for my kids the first time in and it took a long, long time. I think they forgot about it. It appeared to be a grocery store style bagel and was ok. I'm telling you, this place looks beautiful and it's got great energy. It just so happened the business and the coffee on just a few visits didn't quite land. I would definitely encourage folks to try it out, it just missed the mark more than I was hoping for.

Pumpernickels is a vibe and a great place to sit a spell in the summer here in Saugatuck, but when it comes to the food, while it matches the vibe and is presented beautifully, tastes very average and is not value oriented aka on the spendy side. We came in as a party of 6 around 2pm and quickly got a table outside. Our server was sweet and kind, and quick to take our orders, but once that happened we really didn't see her all that much, which was frustrating. On top of that, the main dish on the menu that brought us here (goat cheese dip) was sold out after lunch, which was a major disappointment. We ordered the fried green tomatoes, deviled eggs, chicken sandwich (grilled), rueben, green bean salad, and a kids mac n cheese and chicken tenders. The best bites were the eggs and the green bean salad, but the portion on the salad was so petite that it was barely a meal for the person who ordered it. The chicken was dry and the sandwich incredibly generic. The reuben didn't have enough of the house corned beef and was also dry. Now I could be wrong here, but the fried green tomatoes seemed like a frozen product. with a uniform breading and cook, but the chicken fingers definitely were and the mac n cheese was quite literally Kraft. I'm going to hope that this is a hot dinner or brunch spot, because what we had was pretty disappointing. I was torn between here and the spot around the corner that featured a lot of local ingredients in a more casual setting, but chose this because it seemed to be more culinarily focused, and I was let down.
