Remember that movie "American Graffiti" or the tv show "Happy Days" with the carhops? Well, you can have something similar (without the roller skates) in Loveland at Dairy Delite. You park your car and then employees with t-shirts that read 'Carhop Crew' will come to your car to take your order. They will also bring your food to you (in the car). Dairy Delite has been around since the 70's and is open seasonally. They close for the winter. Opening days and closing days will vary depending upon the weather. You can eat in your car or at the outside picnic tables. They used to have indoor seating (from what I could see it looked really retro cool inside), but right now there is no indoor service. Public restrooms are available. They offer food (hotdogs and hamburgers), but what they're known for is the ice cream. You can order sundaes, malts, shakes and freezes. There are so many flavor choices! They also offer a dole whip with changing flavors. We ordered a banana/chocolate milk shake and a coconut/vanilla milkshake (custom flavors). We also ordered a pup cup for our dog (which he enjoyed!). The milkshakes are soooo good! I ordered a Vienna Beef hotdog (very popular where I come from) which was just not great. I would give more stars if I could, great experience! There aren't many mom-n-pop places around anymore, especially carhops. My spouse and I went to Dairy Delight on Saturday and we were so pleased! We went last year before they closed for the season but only got ice cream so I held off on a review until we could make it for the full experience. We were offered a menu as soon as we pulled up and then we were checked on fast once we moved to an outdoor table. The staff was really attentive and we found out that we could order our ice cream for later so it wouldn't melt while we ate our food. We each got an order of fish and chips. The fish was succulent, soft and moist on the inside with a crunchy batter on the outside. The chips (fries) needed a little salt but they did come with a packet and ketchup solved that issue for me. The coleslaw that came with it was some of the best coleslaw either of us have ever had and it was a nice relief from all the deep fried food. Once we were ready, it was easy to flag someone down to ask for our ice cream. I got a scoop of butter pecan in a cone and my spouse got a cup of mint chip in a dish. It was a lovely experience and we'll definitely be back before they close this fall. read more

This is just the best little "drive in" - I had great service. I stopped in two days in a row. I would start by saying I'd give them a 3.5 star rating. Intrigued by the crowd that is always around the building. Now I know why, it's because they only have car service. Only stopped to investigate and try the milkshake. Honestly pretty great tasting shake. I am a bit mystified however because I ordered a large and either I got the wrong one or the sizes are silly out of wack. Almost $7 for a this size, which was about 8 ounces. The weird thing, you pay before they bring the item to you. So I paid and tipped before I saw how small it was. So I paid $9 for what I would say is a small. We didn't realize so stupidly walked up to the door looking confused, but a waitress was quick to direct us to menus and gave us the option to sit outside at a table or remain in the car, we grabbed a table. Very sad that this charming spot seems to be racing to the bottom on amenities. Kids running the carhop are friendly and doing their best. Issue seems to lie with the management. They used to have great indoor seating with classic arcade games and that old time family diner feel. Now they're one of those places still using Covid as an excuse to charge the same prices (or more) while providing less to their customers. And they've completely shut down the indoor dining area. They also won't provide you with water. I already had a half full plastic bottle I brought with me and was told I could buy another if I wanted water. We resorted to filling our bottles from the bathroom sink while contending with the hornets in their outdoor only seating. The Chicago dog was good and they offer a soft serve cone with a kids meal, which is nice-hence the 3 stars. Be prepared to wait forever. Had to wait for 45 minutes just to get 2 ice cream cones. And the teenagers who run it are not properly trained in customer service. It's lost what it used to be. I've been coming here since I was a kid in 1996 and it was always a treat. Everything from atmosphere to food quality was always really special. These days they literally won't let you inside because it's "more convenient". So no more access to their arcade games, the beautiful ambiance of a classic malt-shop, so instead you get to sit outside in the heat/cold or eat in your car. Food quality and service has deteriorated as well. I couldn't tell you whether the original owners/founders are still living, but my suspicion would be if they saw what their creation had become, they'd be ashamed. You should be, as well. read more

It hasn't been the same since covid. As a 20+ year customer, Im sad to not be giving an outstanding review. There are so many times we have decided not to go because the weather wasn't great as we know we are no longer allowed inside this cute place. The inside décor was part of the allure. I am dumbfounded by their refusal to offered water. What kind of ice cream place doesn't have free water. They make you purchase bottled water. Unbelievable. The car hop staff isn't even friendly. The one girl told me. Do you know how hot we would get if we had to keep bringing everyone water??? Do you get leas hot bringing $2 bottled water?? I didn't know what to say. . The new "rules" don't sit well with me and my family. Would love to be able to just sit down and play a game of Ms. Pacman with my daughter and eat an ice cream. Guess those days are gone. I came in a few days ago and wanted to process my thoughts before reviewing, so here they are... *The ice cream is decent but overpriced. I got an item similar to a large DQ Blizzard that was $11!! I can go to DQ and get 2 Blizzards for $8. *The staff was very friendly and polite but you could tell they were overworked and poorly guided. I was helped by a blonde gal with short hair and glasses who was extremely lovely! My overall experience was okay. If it wasn't for the workers I would have gave this place a much worse review. I treat myself to a corn dog every now and then. I went for a t go order. When I got home it was a Sonic like corn dog! Corn dogs at dairy delight are supposed to be specially good and you pay pay for that. I called to complain and was told their supplier had substituted their corn dogs and apologized. Stopped in here after my scouting trip. Saw it driving down 34 (Eisenhower) and saw the Chicago style hotdog drawing in the window. It's a nice little place with about 20 or so seats. I got the Chicago Dog without relish and a small order of fries. All of the food was nice and hot. Their hotdogs are the Vienna beef. They give you plenty of toppings on the hot dog. The fries were nice and hot. They have Galaga and Pac Man machines to play while you wait. The girls were friendly and provided prompt service. My father in law also got an Italian beef. He said it was decent. They also serve tons of Ice Cream! Would've gotten 5 stars is meet wasn't frozen. Would still come back!
