Josh and John's is worth every penny and yes, it runs a little pricey. Get over it. The Mocha Java Jolt alone justifies the trip and honestly justifies your entire afternoon. Five stars, no hesitation. Cool location, great vibe, and if you're already heading to Comet Chicken or Oak and Maple, this is a mandatory stop afterwards. Build it into the plan. Wow! My husband and I were visiting from KC and needed a sweet treat after a long hike at RMNP. The ice cream was amazing! I tried the malted mazel toff and my husband had the moose on the loose, and they did not disappoint! The staff were so friendly as well! High energy and excited to help us. Oh, JandJ's... How do I love thee? I should note that the only reason I did not add a fifth star is that while Josh and John's have EXCELLENT ice cream with creative flavors and excellent ingredients... they don't switch it up and add MORE exciting flavors nearly often enough for me. That said, if you like hot fudge sundaes with homemade fudge (The very friendly folks who work there confided that the fudge is made on site, and it is well worth one's while to find out what day they are making it, because it is that good) and oatmeal chocolate chip ice cream on a handmade waffle cone beyond parallel, this is the place for you. Take home a pint. But it likely won't keep you from returning next week. It's good stuff. read more

This place was hopping but the line moved fast, and The smell is sweet enough to put a person into diabetic shock. No sugar free options but still purchased an ice cream for my wife and daughter. Was very surprised at the shaving of ice cream that was put on each cone. The flavors were rich and creamy but the cost to portion ratio was a let down. read more

It's so rare to find a taro flavored ice cream, and WOW was it so good. The texture of the ice cream was perfect and I really enjoyed how the flavor lasted even after my bite was done.. The second ice cream I tried was the strawberry and let me tell yall this tasted so fresh but I still couldn't get over the taro one with chocolate bites ... Im a texture girl so a bit of crunch is special to me. The third one is the salted peanut butter one...this one was incredible too. Definitely super tasty I don't know if I had better ice cream in Houston. This place is a treasure for sure, definitely go! Don't second guess yourself. read more

Very good ice cream! Tried the coffee java one, and they were very generous with the espresso beans and java chips mixed in it. Also tried the malt one and cookie butter crumble (something like that) and while they tasted great, I wished they had more fillings in it. I like an ice cream full of stuff, and other than the coffee one, I didn't really find that. But the flavors are top notch. I just know I've had better ice cream in my travels. Good ice cream, seasonal flavors, clean interior and exterior, and fun chalk for the kids outside make this spot one of my favorites in town. Affordable. If you want a delicious beverage to wash down that wonderful ice cream, you can enjoy a free 3oz cup of water or a 10$ 32oz root beer, and nothing else. It's absurd. I'm thirsty!!! Give me a big boy cup! I bought 30$ in ice cream, I don't want to drink 10 Dixie cups of water. They also pressure me to read a paper menu which I never much appreciate. Most disappointing I'm not sure what they tell the ice cream professionals scooping the stuff, but stinnngy. None of that rounded top business. Fill to the brim of the cone/cup. Which to be honest is fine, I never eat much ice cream anyways. Great ice cream. It's expensive but we really enjoyed our two flavors (Dutch chocolate and vanilla bean).

A great discovery in Loveland. Some fun and very tasty ice cream flavors. The two people working behind the counter were friendly and efficient. We had multiple flavors that all met with a lot of yums. The place is a bit hard to see from the road, but don't pass it by. Only reason I didn't mark it 5 stars is that I felt the prices were a bit high. However, everything else was excellent. read more

Live very close to the newer loveland location and have gone twice so far. They have very enthusiastic employees, however they arent great about remembering to ask if you are participating in their rewards program at checkout. Its good, it would be nice if they had more than 2 flavors that are both gluten free AND nut free, (as well as sorbet from a dairy free perspective as well) there are a lot of flavors with nuts for some reason. I dont understand why so many bakeries/ice cream/ sweet shops advertise their GF options with pride, but then they mainly come up with flavors involving chocolate and/or nuts when so many other flavors exist. (Ice cream is naturally a gluten free item btw, so its not hard to achieve) Also- do you not have vegan flavors? Personally speaking, theres an overload of chocolate and vanilla based flavors, which could be balanced out by other flavors including various fruits or sweet and savory mash ups, etc Star off because its expensive for the portioning and given what it is, ive been to other more "luxe" regional small chain ice cream shops around the country so from a comparison perspective - you get the luxe price (and admittedly good quality ice cream) but without that more luxe "vibe" from a flavor combination and store environment perspective. There are a couple cool flavors, but of course those are a specialty price beyond the already higher end standard pricing. Im mainly comparing to shops like Van Leeuwen and Jeni's ice cream which are out of state. Also find it odd they don't list flavor descriptions conveniently anywhere; you have to ask which makes decision making take longer due to having to inquire about what anything is. I like when its written, which is usually common. There are movie like posters to highlight the flavors (which require you to turn around), but the store people told me some are out of date. They look old as well, so not sure why they were even hung in a store thats less than 3 months old. Additionally, the words taro and ube seem to be used interchangeably for the same purple mountain flavor both by employees, and written in the flavor title in-store. Taro and ube are different. Yes they are both purple, no they are not the same. Dont love the lack of clarity on the actual ingredient used. Both are widely used asian flavors, so mixing up the two in a predominantly white demographic doesn't sit well with me. If youre going to dip into other cultures, please be knowledgeable about it. Theres also a flavor with a Jewish reference but no seemingly jewish ingredients. Is it kosher? If so thats great but its not advertised. Would love to see more "interesting" flavor combinations and/or locally sourced ingredients when staying simple/ classic. Would also love to see more catering to various dietary restrictions. Why dont you have sugar cones? :( Cake cones feel kid-like while waffle cones require a huge portion to justify getting. Offering a GF ice cream cone would also be beneficial. The specificity of critiques in my review are a result of the pricing tiers and what i would like to see to be a regular customer read more

While recently visiting Loveland, I found this quaint ice cream shop that has been open for about a month in the historic downtown section. The staff working at the shop were very friendly and answered any question thrown at them with ease. The flavors were plentiful and included gluten-free, dairy-free, and even had a vegan shake. The customers enjoyed the flavors selected and we personally went twice during our visit. The Lavender Blueberry was pretty spectacular, along with Salted Peanut Butter Cup, Strawberry, Dutch Chocolate, and Purple Mountain Majesty! I'd highly recommend giving this place a try during your time in the historic downtown section of Loveland! read more
