Hummm if I was given the choice to go back it would be no. I was not impressed. I ordered the roast beef special. The meat, tomatoes, and cheese was sliced THIN. Lots of bread--not so much on the rest of the sandwich. It was really a disappointment since I drove 30 mins to eat here before going further into Loveland for dinner. Decor: it's okay. It could be a really cute place if they tried to make it better, but from the vibe I got--they didn't care. Service: walk up to the counter and order. They bring the food to you. Served in plastic baskets, it's nothing to get excited about. No follow up to any of the tables after the food was served to see if you were happy with what they served to you. They've recently changed owners and staff. Much improved. The food is fresher and tastier. They have extended hours now and that's been great. My favorite is the BLT. I like chicken salad but I'm not fond of raisins. I prefer grapes. read more

The food here is actually terrible and it's so overpriced. I paid almost $30 for two sandwiches and a small cup of soup. The chicken salad sandwich was disgusting. It didn't taste fresh at all, just tasted like canned chicken and a ton of mayo. The broccoli cheddar soup was so bland and tasted like it came from a can. For the price and the quality I will never be going back, even tho I love local businesses. Had lunch with a friend at Johnstown Lunch Box about a week before Christmas. Food was delicious! Service was excellent. I had the ham & Turkey Croissant sandwich. My friend had the Chicken Salad Croissant and said it was very good. I think I'll try that one next time. You do have to order at the counter and then they bring your order to your table. I try to support local and I know many local businesses have been hard hit by the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. Today, I went to Johnstown Lunch Box. Looking back at my receipt, I ordered at 11:59. I ordered two sandwiches. The nice young man at the counter said they were out of their chicken salad and that I could wait "15 minutes." Thirty minutes later, I stepped up to the counter to check the status. I was told another "5 minutes." At 12:44, a nice young lady brought me the two sandwiches. I politely mentioned that I had been told 15 minutes 45 minutes ago and that "you can't run a lunch-time business like this--people have things to do and you need to be reliable." She said, "we'll work on that." As much as I'd like to support and recommend this business, I simply can't. If you have lunch time for lunch, go elsewhere. read more

I had my first experience here and it was good. My wife is eaten here multiple times and loves it. I ordered the Chicago style Dog. It was similar to the dogs I have had in Chicago but not an exact replica. The flavor was good and the portion was great. The hoagie roll they used was delicious but did not give the same feeling as eating a dog from Chicago. It would be great if they added celery salt to the dog to bring that flavor in a a cucumber to make it more authentic, but it was good. I will be trying the roast beef next visit, I did like their bread. Worth your time when you are in our small town of Johnstown. read more

Went over to lunch box at about 3 with y 3 yr old sister knowing i had work at about 4. THAT SHOULD BE ENOUGH TIME TO GET 3 SCOOPS OF ICE CREAM!!! I am extremely disappointed with how long it will take them to scoop some ice cream! Sadly, i just left the establishment after waiting 30 minutes to get my younger sister a kids ice cream. I called back 5 mins later on my way home to get a refund of some sort and no one had answered the call after calling 4 times. I will choose elsewhere to get an ice cream. We were in Johnstown for a local track meet and we're looking for something a little something different for lunch. Locals recommended us the Lunchbox. We quickly looked up reviews and thought this would be a good place. Found on the corner, this quaint restaurant is decorated very simple and has a hometown feel. With the limited menu we ordered a few deli sandwiches and everyone really enjoyed them and the side picked. We finished them off with a couple of ice cream cones. Reasonably priced coupled with an excellent staff would make this a nice choice to return to when we are in town again. read more

The BBQ chicken wrap sandwich is very good, and so is the reuben sandwich, as is the potato salad and chicken salad, and we like the chocolate chip cookies, BUT, the breakfast croissants and breakfast bagels are pretty awful and way overpriced in comparison to other eateries ($6). They used processed American cheese slices on the sandwich (not real cheese), and put mayonnaise on the sandwich. Not a good combination. We can drive to Gibb's Bagels in Windsor or Panera's in Loveland and get a really delicious breakfast sandwich (with our pick of bagel) for a better price and better quality ingredients. Hopefully The Lunch Box will improve their breakfast sandwiches (and reduce price), and start using better quality ingredients. They would probably get a lot more customers coming in the morning. The people working there are very nice, which is great, and the place is always clean! read more

Be prepared if you walk in and see a lady with the "I'd like to see the manager" haircut. But if any of the other people are running the register you are ok. The food is delicious and the people are nice (without the one previously mentioned). But the food is good and almost all the people are nice and helpful.
