Banana split

Mansfield, Ohio is my hometown and although we moved to Georgia when I was 7, most of my family still lives in Ohio. Whenever we come home to visit, we always stop thru here for some soft serve ice cream, Ohio-style lol. Came up for a wedding and had to stop here for a Sunday snack after devouring pizza down the street at "East of Chicago" restaurant (Check my review for them out too). This place has been around for at least 40 years or more and it brings back sooo many memories for me as a child! We would come here after church every Sunday to get an ice cream cones and sometimes burgers and fries. Not much has changed. It still has the huge ice cream cone on the top of the building, same feel to it and the same concept. You sit in the car and the friendly waitress comes over to take your order and delivers it to you within 15 minutes. Pretty cool. Just like Sonic's in Georgia except no button to press. Just drive up, find your lane, park and order (No drive thru). This was my children's second time here. They don't remember the first time we took them because they were too small so this time will be memorable. I got a banana split (pretty good) and hubby got the turtle sundae. His sundae came with toasted walnuts that had a little hint of salt (yum). I was like "dang, I should've gotten that!" (So good) The kids all ordered Artic swirls (which is really just a blast) with their add-ins. One had oreo swirl, one had cookie dough swirl, one had the strawberry cheesecake swirl and one had the mint chocolate swirl. They all loved it so I'm happy I could share a piece of my childhood with them. It's the small things that makes me happy. Soft-serve on a Sunday...#winning The prices are great too! Very affordable. My banana split was $3.75. Turtle sundae: $3.25 Artic swirl: $3.25 (small), $3.75 (medium) They also serve fried twinkies (aye, don't knock it til you try it lol), cheeseburgers ($2.55), pizzaburgers ($3.70), coneys (starting at $1.90) sloppy joes ($1.99), fish sandwiches ($3.85), grilled cheese ($1.80), tuna sandwiches for $2.90! Come on Jesus!!! Lol. Their menu is extensive. They have potato salad, macaroni salad, fried pickles, nachos, zucchini sticks, etc. List goes on. They have strawberry shortcakes ($3.75), Hawaiian sundaes ($2.80 small or $3.30 medium), royal sundaes ($3.75), black forest sundaes ($2.60 small or $3.10 medium) and hot fudge brownie sundaes ($3.80) to name a few more desserts. Check them out if you're in the Mansfield area! Although my hometown has been ravaged by the heroine crisis and other drugs (abandoned buildings everywhere), hardly any jobs from what my family says, all the manufacturing jobs have disappeared, the Ohio reformatory being located here (ppl get out and stay right here)...Dairy Land and Jones potato chips may be the last thing standing that has stood the test of time for me and I will continue to support them whenever I go home. #GoBuckeyes

During our recent vacation to this area we were driving around looking for an ice cream joint when we saw the big ice cream cone on the roof so we came over. It's a lot like Sonic in that they walk up to your car and take your order and walk the food to you or you can walk up to the window if you prefer. Unfortunately we had just eaten dinner so I didn't try any of their savory options. However I got the most unique sounding thing I could find on their dessert menu so let's get to it... Chocolate Covered Cherry Arctic Rush What Is It: It's very similar to the DQ Blizzard as it's an ice cream with something mixed with it in my case it was chocolate covered cherries. Presentation: It definitely looked the part as they top it with whipped cream and a cherry. Unfortunately there was no indication of the chocolate covered cherries on the top which was sad. 6 out of 10 Taste/ Final Analysis: This was a pretty good take on this. There was lots of cherries in here as well as some chocolate pieces. They were very well balanced in that there wasn't a lot more of one than the other. Like I said it was very much like a Blizzard although I did like the addition of whipped cream and the cherry so I think that gives it a leg up. This was good and if I'm in this region again I would definitely like to check out more of what they have to offer. 8.5 out of 10

Whenever traveling I always use YELP, and it was right on the mark here too. Having grown up in Youngstown, OH, and having lived near New Haven, CT, I have eaten a lot of wonderful Italian Food. We didn't want to wait for a table to open up in the regular restaurant so we decided to eat at the GASTRONOMIA Italian Deli (same kitchen as the back restaurant). My wife is handicapped and some very kind ladies moved to a "high" table so we could sit at a lower table. We ordered from a young lady with the most amazing blue eyes and she brought our food when it was ready. My wife had the Muffuletta Sub and I had the Mighty Meatball Sub. My wife could only eat 1/4 of her sandwich and I could only eat 1/2 of mine. If you have ever lived in one of the two places I mentioned, you know good Italian . This was WONDERFUL Italian. I can't wait to go back there!

Thank you everyone for a beautiful evening!

A Slice Above--This Tower Leans Right Into Your Heart (and Arteries)…read moreLet me tell you, the Leaning Tower of Pizza doesn't just lean... it lunges at your taste buds like a carb-loaded ninja with marinara on its hands. We rolled in hungry, and left questioning if we should update our wills to include pizza rights. The lineup: A Large Meats pizza that looked like it bench-pressed smaller pizzas for fun. A Medium Pep & Sausage with white sauce--or as I like to call it, "Garlic Oil's Greatest Hits." A Personal Pep & Sausage, because someone said "I'm not hungry" and then ate half the large. Three Subs that could double as home security devices: A Meatball Sub that came in like a wrecking ball (Miley Cyrus not included). An Original with Double Meat--they doubled the meat and tripled our joy. And the Pizza Sub, which basically said, "Why should pizza have all the fun? Put it on a bun." The service? Absolutely top-notch. Friendly, fast, and they didn't flinch when we ordered like we were feeding a small village. The food? Delicious. Cheesy. Meaty. Saucy. The Leaning Tower of Pizza isn't just a name--it's a culinary landmark that should probably have its own zip code. Would eat again. Would unbutton pants in advance. Would tell others, just like I'm telling you now. Grazie, Tower. You leaned... and we fell.

They provide customized menus as a special touch. As there are three selections on four on the courses, the dishes do not appear to be as customized for those with dietary issues. Jamie was our primary server providing a friendly and professional service. For my order, Three of us started with the Crostini while my wife had the Pave. I really liked the flavors of the Crostini, scrumptious! I had a bite of my wife's Pave and thought the texture and tastes superb! Preparing for the second and further courses was my a put off! We were asked to keep our utensils for the future courses! Nothing like dirty silverware sitting on the table dirtying up the area! At this price point, used silverware should be taken and replaced with new! That is the reason for my 4 of 5 stars. We experienced the same during our first visit two years ago and had hope it was resolved after mentioning to staff. That said, it was the only put off of our experience. For the second course my sister and I decided on the Scallop Arancini while my wife and mom went for the Zuppa Toscano. Again, the Scallop Arancini was amazing and scrumptious! The flavors were terrific! I tried a few spoonfuls of the Zuppa Toscano and thought it missing seasoning. The third found 3 of us ordering the Salmon Oscar while my wife ordered the Grilled Cheese. The salmon was rare, which I particularly like but the crab was cold. My preference would have been warm war with a bit of the béarnaise on top. My wife's Grilled Cheese was very tasty with the preserves but looked lonely sitting on the plate. For the last course three of us decided on the Pumpkin Crepe and my wife the Apple Spice Cake. I thought the Pumpkin Crepe to be a lovey presentation and very tasty and my wife enjoyed the spice cake. All in all a lovely experience overall! Thank you!

This dinner was an incredible experience. The food, the caverns, the service…read more... The prohibition dinner is a 9 course meal served in an underground cavern that was used for aging beer, and likely more shady activities during Prohibition. The cavern has been updated into a dining room and bar. It does run a little chilly, so be sure to dress appropriately. It is also damp and you have to take an elevator down. Factor these into your decision. Let me also say, this is not a cheap activity, and not for picky eaters. They are very pleasant and accommodating of dietary restrictions, but the was a wide variety of flavors and textures that you need to be willing to try. You pay in advance for this activity . We were met in the little reception area by the servers, and taken down to the cave for a tour and to get settled. We did not purchase the wine pairing, but were offered wine by the glass as an add on, and chose from the pairing list, as it was easy and available. my friend and I both enjoyed a glass of Rose. Once we were seated and settled, we saw 2 other parties come in and were seated, back to front, in the cavern. there are 3 seatings, and they stagger your arrival. First up was the bread service, including a butter candle that melts down a lava rock onto your bread. Very fun, and the bread was wonderful. The fry bread was my favorite. I think the menu is seasonal, so I won't share too many details as it will likely be different if you go .The next course was a savory flan in an eggshell, which was really good, and had a bunch of crispy accompaniments. We also had a smoked salmon course, and a veggie fritter that I would order as an entree, it was so good! The main was duck, and I love duck. Finally, we had a really fun dessert that included white chocolate mousse, apple cotton candy, apple cake, and a streusel bit. I loved it. The portions are on the smaller size, but don't worry, we were very full at the end! The servers were so attentive and all very well versed in the menu. they do a great job pacing service per party and making you feel welcome. This is, to me, a luxury activity, and my party really considered it worth our money, and really enjoyed our experience.
