The chicken tender basket has always been my go to meal when going to DQ. I stopped one day and went through the drive thru because they now had the sweet chili chicken tender basket. I ordered it with a small chocolate and vanilla shake but they said they could only do a vanilla shake with chocolate syrup, so I got that instead. Service was good and the food was fresh and hot. I usually get the country gravy with the tender basket but the country gravy didn't really go with the sweet chili sauce so I recommend getting ranch, if that is an option, if you do need a dipping sauce. I like Dairy Queen. Their classic soft-serve ice cream is delicious and a nice treat or dessert. This is the Chamblee Dairy Queen and it's been around for as long as I can remember. It used to be an old-school Dairy Queen, but converted into a DQ Grill & Chill (a bigger, more modern version of Dairy Queen which is essentially a fast food restaurant) circa 2015. It's a freestanding building with a drive-thru. They renovated the entire building, inside and out. It's located on Chamblee Tucker Rd, very close to I-85 (exit 94). Along with a drive-thru, this Grill & Chill has a small dining room with a variety of seating (high/low tables, booths, banquette) and a fenced-in outdoor patio with umbrella-covered tables. They have a Coca-Cola Freestyle fountain machine and self-serve eating utensils, napkins, etc. The menu consists of typical fast food fare such as burgers, chicken sandwiches, fries, onion rings, salads, chicken strips, hot dogs, and more. From 11am-4pm everyday, you can get 5 and 6-buck lunch combos. The ice cream is where it's at. You can't go wrong with a Dairy Queen's Blizzard ($2.79 for a mini up to $4.89 for a large) which is soft-serve ice cream packed with various mix-ins. They also sell sundaes ($2.59-$3.29 each), parfaits, shakes ($2.79-$3.79 each), Orange Julius (creamy frozen orange drink, $2.99-$3.89 each), and more. At this location, I tried their Reese's Outrageous (small size for $3.69), which happened to be their Blizzard of the Month and a limited time flavor. It's made with Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, Reese's Pieces, peanut butter, and caramel. It was terrific. Other sweets and candy brands you can get in your Blizzard include Oreo cookies, M&M'S, Butterfinger, and Heath bar. The Reese's Outrageous was a yummy blend of smooth, creamy, caramelly, and crunchy. At Dairy Queen, when employees serve Blizzards, they turn them upside down for you to see that the ingredients are so cold, nothing can fall out. If an employee doesn't turn your Blizzard upside down, you get your next Blizzard for free. Another item I tried was their Hot Fudge Stuffed Cookie a la Mode ($4.39). This was pretty good too. It came with soft-serve vanilla ice cream topped with lots of hot fudge and a chocolate chip cookie drizzled with hot fudge. Overall, pretty simple, but satisfying as well. I like Dairy Queen's soft-serve vanilla ice cream. It's soft and creamy and very comforting. Some of my friends got some Peanut Buster Parfaits ($4.39 each). The parfaits looked great and my friends enjoyed them. I definitely want to try one and probably will the next time I go to a Dairy Queen. Service was fine. read more

There are certain things I've always loved about summer, even back when I was a little Yelper-to-be. And one of them is a DQ Blizzard! This week, I was taken back to the days when I had skinned knees and summer days seemed endless, and when we'd pile in the car around eight at night to go get our favorite ice cream treats. I discovered that my favorite - the "chocolate chip" Blizzard, made using the shell from the dipped cones, so the slivers of "chips" are tiny and perfect bits of chocolate, mmmm good - is still the little taste of heaven I thought it was so long ago. And I learned that the special of the month for July, the Tagalong Blizzard, is pretty tasty, too!! We'd initially gone to the Suno on Jimmy Carter, but it was a big mob scene over there (some kind of anniversary party for the Hong Kong market), lots of kids hanging out, smoking etc. So back to the DQ we went, and they treated us right. The dipped cones were 'spot on' (as the kids say), the child's sundae was good too. Service was fast and friendly. No muss, no fuss, if you're in the Doraville/Chamblee area, don't forget the DQ when that pesky sweet tooth acts up. HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE!!! The way I was treated today by the manager was deplorable and less than how any human being should be treated!! I visit this DQ location at least once a week and have always been treated well. Today was the exception! The so called "manager" took my order and failed to put it into the system! It took 10 minutes for to place the order at the drive through, only to wait in line another 10 minutes and get to the window for my burger to be prepared incorrectly. Because there is a staffing shortage, I made sure I was polite when bringing the fact that my #6 triple burger had Mayo on it (which I requested to not have). After waiting five more minutes, the so called "manager" presented me with a double flame thrower burger. Still, I politely brought error to his attention. He came back two minutes later. I opened up the bag to discover a nasty triple mess thrown together. I showed it to the so manger who fussed me out and blamed me for the first error because he said that I didn't indicate I didn't want Mayo. He proceeds to give me my money back. I told him I wanted my sandwich and not my money. He to,d me he had to move on and would not serve me. He refused to give me his name and gave me a false alias of "H Rap Brown". Finally I was able to get one of the younger employees to the window and asked his name, which is Jerrodd! On the drive back from World of Coke, a friend had a craving for DQ. The GPS located this location as the closest to where I was heading. I have always hated the set up of this place. You to drive around to the other side of the building to order in the drive thru. You basically end up circling the building twice to order and get out if you are going east on Chamblee Tucker. Interactions with staff are hit and miss. But mostly good. It had to be 150 degrees in this DQ today. I guess it's a good thing they sell ice cream. Although, frozen dairy treats are not going to help with the smell in this place. Or make it any cleaner. However, remember I said I ordered a double cheeseburger combo? When i pulled out my burger at home it was a single cheeseburger. Booooo. The fries you ask? The fries were not good at all. I ordered a 1/3 lb burger. The meat tasted as if it was cooked that morning and was under a light all day. The bun was hard and crumbly.

The staff is incredibly rude. Two of the last three times we've been they have messed up our simple order and then argued with us at the window when we try to correct it. This last time was the last time we will ever go there. When we got to the window we notice he was giving us the wrong thing. I told him that wasn't what we ordered. He immediately sighed and tried to say how it was my fault. He then when on to help a customer inside instead. I got his attention and told him to keep the ice cream and he shouldn't get pissed off when customers are trying to correct their mistake. Actually this is a ZERO STAR location. The manager Mia (male) is rude. The Clerk Gerald Brown was extremely rude and kept messing up my order. Gerald first wasn't manning the Drive Thru and I had to drive around a couple of times before I got service. Second, he kept telling me "there was no charge if I substituted a shake for the drink on my combo." He told me there was no charge to substitute cheese curds for the fries; then in his next sentence said the cheese curds would be $2.49. So how is it no charge and have a Charge of $2.49 and the same time. Which I questioned him on and he denied it. When I got to window, the manager Mia showed me the receipt. The receipt didn't reflect what I was told in the drive thru. Plus it had a "Misc Sale" charge for $1 that neither one of the guys could explain. 10 -15 minutes later, they hadn't even started my order. I was too through with these guys. I didn't appreciate Gerald telling me to "fuck You" and hitting my car. Completely rude and uncalled for behavior and treatment that I received. It's a real shame since the place is close by. This is the last time I'll deal these jerks - they have no sense of customer service. It seems to mostly be problems with the night crew staff. I was having a great day and left that place so frustrated, irritated and pissed off. None of it was called for. Gerald kept miscommunicating the prices and got irritated when I asked why he kept saying there was no charge for items/substitutes on the combo. In addition, I had been going to DQ for 3 months and getting the Strawberry cheesecake blizzard and half-n-half with Oreo cookie in one cup - no problems. I came by one evening and got the above jerks and now they are telling me it is impossible to get the half-n-half mixture I've been getting fr the past 3 months. I love the Blizzards and I won't be back to this DQ. It really isn't worth being upset over an order that should take 5 minutes.
