I was craving Dairy Queen and was coming back home from a summer holiday weekend and found this stop along highway 35. The reviews seemed harsh but I went hoping for the best. It's at the end of a court - annoying location if there is high traffic to try and get out. Let's try to be a little fair to the location and say it's understaffed like most fast food places are post COVID, those who are behind the counter are under-appreciated, and ...this is a high volume traffic location next to a major highway and down the road from a casino. However, like other reviews did say, it IS kind of gross. Bathrooms and tables aren't kept, and most trashes are overflowing. However, the food seem to be what I expected, the price was fair, and it didn't seem that sketchy. So if you're coming to this location and especially it's a high traffic time or during a holiday weekend - don't expect much except your chicken fingers and ice cream treat and move along. If you want to dine in - bring some hand sanitizer, wipes, and try to be kind to the three staff members behind the counter trying to just hustle with the rest of us. read more

Very underwhelming. Ordered 3 chicken strip baskets. Strips were tiny- size of a finger- and fries were cold. Took forever to get our order then they forgot the sauce. It's been a long time since we've had a Dairy Queen meal. We were pleasantly surprised on how flavorful their meals were! My husband had the 4 piece Chicken Strip meal. He absolutely loves the white gravy with the chicken. I had the FlameThrower® Signature Stackburger and that was so flavorful! I was quite surprised with how delicious it was. The onion rings were crispy and crunchy - it was also very good! The service was fine - not the friendliest, but they got the meals to us in a reasonable amount of time. This was probably by far the worst Dairy Queen ever! the food tasted like it had been cooking in the same oil for 5 years. I was disappointed I mean im grateful that i got my meal but the fries were very cold. it was busy so i will give them grace for that but it was very messy in there working area i was a bit sketched out. the toilets were clogged. i would not recommend this place for food. read more

I like eating at Dairy Queen, just not this one. The food is fine and tastes as good as any other Dairy Queen, but the service is always extremely slow as they never have enough staff. Tonight I had to go back as they didn't give me everything I ordered. Guy said sorry just like it was no big deal. It cost me time and fuel to return to get the issue resolved. They should've done something extra to make up for their mistake. I guess they don't really care if I come back or not. read more

The WORST dq I've ever been to! I asked for a mix and match with a large coke and a fry and the lady was like we don't have that, and I said okay well it's right here on the board and she said in such a mean voice I'm looking at it on the menu and we don't have it so what do you want?! The service was so slow. There were maybe 2 people working, and it seemed unsanitary. We waited in the drive thru to order for at least 15 minutes (we were the only ones in line), and when we finally got taken care of, it took another 20 minutes for our food to come out. The food was decent but not at all worth a 40 minute wait. I usually have grace for long waits because working in customer service is difficult, but this was not a lunch rush. We were literally the only ones there. Absolutely avoid this place if you are in any sort of a rush. This is NOT fast food! read more

Slowest service and worst food among any DQ. First time here last year, me and my family sat at the drive thru for 10 minutes until we got acknowledged. Then, our hot food and blizzards were either lukewarm or melty after waiting another 15 minutes. The interior looks like a mess. The second time just today, we ordered faster, but sat in a standstill line for 20 minutes. We and many other vehicles left before even getting our food because the car at the window was there for over twenty minutes. I love DQ, but this is by far the worst one around. Even though I'm local, I have driven to Pine City to go to a DQ. In the last month, THREE times I had issues. I waited at the drive thru order window for FIVE MINUTES and no one acknowledged me - so I pulled up to the window and I was completely ignored. The second time, I again waited for several minutes before anyone even got on the speaker phone. The last time (last week) my order was completely wrong. This Dairy Queen used to actually be the worst ever, but they recently got an entire new staff hired on and it has improved greatly. The service, food, and accuracy are all on par with most fast food standards. Stopped here on a Thursday night recently on the way up north, the food was expected but organizationally this place is set up to fail. There was one clearly overwhelmed and exhausted employee, who deserves a medal and doubled pay for not quitting on the spot, taking orders at the register. There was a huge line, so she literally had no time for anything else such as filling the empty ice machine or tending the drive thru (which appeared to be closed). Granted, there is a sign on the door stating they are short on help, but if that is the case whoever owns the franchise should personally be down there picking up the slack. Or if it's a corporate store they should be raising wages to get more help. Asking the customers at an establishment billed as a FAST food restaurant to be patient while overworking and spreading thin the few employees you have left is certainly not the solution. So thanks again to the one employee I interacted with and any I didn't see doing what they could under the circumstances. 5 stars to them and 1 star for setting them up to fail. read more

Today I visited the Hinckley DQ location. This is not the first time Ive had poor service. I understand that the dining in option is closed currently. However the last 2 times I was there it took nearly 45 minutes in the drivethrough even with only maybe 5 or 6 cars ahead of me (cars from already at window to the end of the line so it wasnt that busy). Today the person ahead of me ordered and actually left the line as they were waiting so long. Also the only ones ever seem to be working are all teenagers. Most of them have bad attitudes and or poor training. There is no reason there should be over half a dozen kids working in there especially when the lobby isnt open and the service is so slow. I also saw at least 4 other cars leave the line behind me today from wait times. I hate to complain but believe that was the last time we will be visiting. read more

I don't know WHY or HOW the service at the Hinckley DQ is so bad, but it's really something special. They can have half a dozen people working, and still it might be 5 minutes before someone makes it up to the front register to take your order. They don't even acknowledge the lines. On the other hand, I've had workers swoop down and toss away my drink before it was finished. (I swear they were high.) Half the time, they forget half your order. This is a horrific failure by the management and this location should be forced to close down by corporate headquarters. I get your understaffed but you need a way to tell people who the last in line is so people aren't wasting their time, especially when the sign says 10pm. This place is definitely understaffed, but while noticeable under pressure, the drive through folks were still very nice and friendly. Hinckley in general seems pretty dated and a bit dumpy, so I wouldn't call this DQ anything special regarding appearance, but the food was good and even with a major line in the drive through, the folks inside kept things moving. read more
