We stopped by for a quick treat on a hot day a couple weeks ago. The service was friendly, but we had an issue with our ice cream. After deciding to share a peanut buster parfait and having it finally arrive, everything seemed normal: Spanish peanuts, lots of hot fudge, all freshly made. All was not normal. It seems that whoever added the peanuts to the parfait either dumped them on or scooped them up from the bottom of the container...there was SO much salt mixed in with the parfait. At first, it was still palatable, but after a couple of bites it became so overpowering that we could not continue eating it. 4 stars for the friendly enough service and convenient location, 1 star for the pure salt in our ice cream. read more

SERVICE: five stars today. Clean lines: five stars - the picnic tables were spotless. We were one of the first guests at opening 11 AM, but I am judging by our experience today. FOOD: Cheeseburger and cheese curds: unfortunately, I had to have them make it over because there was mustard on my burger. I know that is common in some parts of the country, but I have never experienced that at Dairy Queen at the Wappingers Falls location. They were very accommodating and did make the burger over. Food is what I've come to expect. It's a great fix for the craving. Ambiance: plenty of outdoor seating. I am updating my review due to, my husband and I have the day off and thought let's take the three dogs for some treats of soft serve. Upon getting here we decided let's grab lunch. After ordering food for us one of our three dogs has her face glaring at me. So I asked is there a chance I can order like six slices of bacon for my three dogs. The young lady didn't question any thing of what I was asking and immediately went to figure out how she could fill my request. With many years to my existence, this is the first time coming here. It's pretty obvious once you're parked and getting out, it's only an outdoor and drive-in establishment. No doubt that this location is old fashion and it's a Brazier DQ. Taking a look at the menu, we ordered the cheeseburger combo, double cheeseburger, and a bacon cheeseburger which comes with fries. The portion for the fries isn't the greatest even if it's ordered large. I'm impressed with the burger they provide, as the taste goes beyond the fast-food feel, even though that's not true. As you see in the picture I would not call this a Oreo dirt blizzard in the picture that is displayed is extremely dark chocolate looking ice cream. This is vanilla ice cream may be blended with cookies I did ask them to change the cookies to brownies but it looks and does not taste anything close to the picture. Please make it with chocolate ice cream next time as the picture or make it out of the picture looks. Very disappointing that I can't get a basic American flavor. read more

I came here this evening for the first time in years. The entire place is run by high school kids. They all seemed extremely overwhelmed, they didn't make eye contact when ordering and they literally threw your change at you. I watched them give change to people while waiting for my order and they did it to everyone. Literally just throwing their change at them and it dropping all over. My order somehow got lost and after about 20 min I went back up to reorder. After the second time ordering it was not what I ordered and the boy at the counter was basically like, "oh well." I took it to the other side (the food side) and asked to deal with a woman. She came back in a min with the correct ice cream order. I get when things get busy it's easy to miss a order but what made me annoyed is the service. These kids need to be taught how to talk to people, give eye contact when taking your order so you know that they understand and also maybe not throw your change at you. read more

We both ordered the $7 Chicken Finger combo, which was so delicious. 3 Chicken Fingers and packed with fries It was freshly fried and delectable. Jeff tried to steal one of my Chicken Fingers, and claimed it was only a 2 Chicken Finger combo, but I was on to his games. The only problem I had was the drink situation, which I deduct a star for. They loaded up my drink with ice and then I asked for a refill. They said no, like I had 2 heads. But I am a diabetic and it was almost like they knew the soda wasn't good for me! If I could, I'd give 5 stars to the guy who waited on me, and 1 star to everyone and everything else here. It's too bad, because I like the menu and the food (but not the custard - for that I'll go to Rita's on 9G around the corner from me, because it's closer and a better deal). The people in front of me placed a large order, and I guess they asked for a side of chaos. As soon as the guy finished taking the order, he raced to the kitchen to help, leaving the order window unattended for a couple of minutes, while more people queued in line behind me, until "cavalry guy" stepped in to take orders. My order number was called about 10 seconds after the number ahead of me, i.e., the large order. But when they went to pick it up, the girl realized she hadn't included any of their ice cream or drinks - or the chaos. So she ran back to work on that frantically, forgetting she had called my order as well, leaving both parties waiting for food. A couple of minutes later, "cavalry guy" checked on us and realized he could actually give me my order while everybody else channeled chaos. On the plus side, the nearby Stop & Shop includes coupons for this Dairy Queen on the back of their register receipts. That makes meals here a better deal. Just be prepared to be patient. read more

Hit and miss. Ice creams great and workers are pleasant but overwhelmed most of the time so you can find yourself standing a while trying to get someones attention to order or pick up. Outdoor seating and parking available drive thru as well. Not an indoor establishment just a walk up fast food joint. Wish they offered (as a company) some sugar free ice cream . They have every other type available gluten free stuff lactose free etc but nothing sugar free read more

i've been here before and they're always a tad off because all thee employees are very young (sorry not sorry) but tonight we got here at 8:45 knowing they stop serving food at 9pm and i waited outside the window for a good 5 minutes & EVERY SINGLE EMPLOYEE looked at me through the window and never approached me to ask what i wanted. almost as if they were waiting out the clock. finally, i placed the order through the app and i guess once it went through, someone immediately came to the window and asked if he could help me... i told him i placed an order on the app and if looks could kill from all of them... you could sense them talking badly. the girl comes and gives me my food with an attitude and is staring at me all nasty. read more

I would say that it is definitely safest to order ice-cream or any of the frozen treats; only because I have received many hot sandwiches that were under the correct temperature. Alas I kept returning for blizzards and the occasional chicken tender basket, but the following story is what prompted me to submit a review. I had this experience on May 19th, 2015: While it is understandable for a small restaurant as this one to take a considerable amount of time to prepare hot meals, the woman at the drive through was more than friendly and I assured her I wasn't in a rush. She took my payment and handed me my drink, and said the food portion would be right out. I waited for about 7 minutes at the drive through window. Then one of the kitchen staff, male, who looked like he was still in high school, was walking towards the window with the order, paused at a co-worker for about half a minute. They both laughed hysterically then he continued to bring me the meal. He smiled and quickly handed me the box then shut the window. I felt that the bottom of the box was slightly wet, I figured that it may have been grease from the fryer but checked moments later when I set it down on my seat that it was chewing gum. Bottom line, it comes down to cleanliness and customer relations for restaurants to keep their business, and this branch of Dairy Queen has constantly been a let down and due to their lack of respect shown towards customers I would strongly recommend avoiding this establishment. Their managers and owner should definitely implement better sanitation and service practices. How do you mess up milkshakes? They do not wash their utensils/cups. I kid you not, the two times I went there, my vanilla and strawberry milkshake had chocolate pieces and small chunks of toppings. I have GREAT memories of eating Brazier burgers when I was younger, OK, MUCH younger. Definitely the days before 5 Guys, BGR, Westchester Burger...well, you get the picture. I should have left the fond memories alone because they have been corrupted by todays lunch. I ordered the mushroom swiss burger. What I didn't know was that it had the mushrooms in some kind of thick, gooey sauce which prompted ran all over the place when I picked it up. And although it looked like a slice of swiss peeking out, some white gelatinous stuff ran all over my hands along the brown goo from the 'shrooms. All in all, I'm not doing this again. My family and myself went for ice cream tonight and i ordered a small hot fudge sundae and my wife got a flurry. They were both smalls and the price was almost $10. My hot fudge sundae had a ring of hot fudge around the outer edge of the bowl about a 1/4 in in dia. Not good at all and not worth the money!!! read more

Its been a few years since I've been to the Hyde Park, NY location because the last visit was so horrible but I thought I would give it another try. . . Fast forward to just three days ago and I will never go back again. The girls are nasty and rude and every time I've ordered a sundae it was horrible and completely white--all ice cream and hardly no toppings. When I asked for more toppings I was met with an attitude. Excuse me but didn't I pay almost $10 for a banana split and a small cone, WTH!! I'll just go to Adams next time. I hate going here. Although I oftentimes have to because of my family. And besides I really do enjoy the cotton candy blizzards. However the workers here are just very inconsiderate and could care less about the fact that you fork over $6 of your hard earned money (for me at least) to buy a large blizzard and just fill you cup 3/4 full. I always ask for the tall clear lids on them so it's not easy to hide the fact that they straight up don't care and will cheat you. Last night was no different. But instead the girl handed me my blizzards with the flat lids. I told her to put the clear tall lid on AGAIN. She obliged. And I noticed that she had to fill the cup with more ice cream this time or it would be too oblivious she was cheating me. Aren't you guys supposed to use those lids anyway for ice cream?! Went there last night as they were closing up- really wanted a soft serve. They still had 3 customers waiting at the window for an order. The manager refused to serve my boyfriend and me. The shop employees (all 6 of them present) looked at me like it would have been no problem to pour some soft serve ice cream into a cone in exchange for my money. The manager barked at me to leave, that they were closed. The people waiting for their order looked disgusted as we were shooed away- I thought owners and management should know about this. I work in restaurants and I can assure you I have never turned anyone's good money down while I was still around serving other customers, especially considering how easy my order would have been. Although it had been quite a while since my last visit here, the other day (less than 2 weeks ago) I and a few people from my family visited this Dairy Queen, and about all I can say is that while service hasn't gone down at all, it hasn't gone really up. I tried one of their burgers - along with someone else splitting the fries from another part of the order. Food was still rather tasty, but was a bit cooler than it should have been, perhaps it was off the grill for a few additional minutes that was unintentional. And as for the fries, they were the best part of the meal. The employees listened constructively to exactly how the items should have been prepared (being we wanted "no salt fries") and they came out as such - they were crunchy to a point, but even them needed to be a little crispier to be a real "fry" - it seemed like they weren't quite completely finished on the grill. As for the other people in my family who came, few had any major problems with their service or food, though there were a few minor complaints about the quality of food. Although this visit still doesn't accept a 5-star rating, it's not a 3-star rating anymore. I mean, the place still looks a bit outdated, but it isn't too bad comparing it now to back in the 80s or 90s for this location. read more

This review is about the service not the food. I have been ordering blizzards, specifically berry cheesecake blizzards for years. Today I ordered a large strawberry cheesecake blizzard, not royale, and got home to find it had no cheesecake and had a few banana chunks. I called the store and spoke with ASHLEY, who claimed to be the regional manager. She said she made my blizzard and it had cheesecake and no bananas. I told her I knew the difference b/t bananas and cheesecake, so she then proceeded to check the receipt which she said had recorded with bananas since there was no key for regular blizzards. But she insisted again she made it with cheesecake. Very argumentative, not professional and abrupt. She must have insisted 3-4 times it was cheesecake and not banana. I offered to take a pic, but she said no need and did put it in a book for credit. I asked to speak with her manager and she said she was the manager and not "obligated" to give me that information. I love this place. You can't beat the $5 meal deal, then there are the new sandwiches. The pork on a pretzel roll is yummy. I can't wait for the Blizzard of the Month. They have some great new flavors, like the one with the cookie and brownie pieces, brookies, I think. I think it is nice that they give kids their first real job. Horrible service! Ordered through the drive thru and was met with an attitude because the girl taking my order couldn't hear me. Pulled up to the window and was handed a bag which was interesting because I ordered a blizzard and a Julius! Why would you give someone their drink order in a bag, when I opened it I instantly knew why. They were trying to hide the fact that the blizzard was already melting and pouring out of the cup! I pulled it out of the already soaked bag and had my boyfriend return it to the counter to which they replied "what's wrong with it?!" I stayed in the car so I wouldn't say something in my anger. As I waited I took a sip of my strawberry Julius and it tasted like they put protein powder in it! Needless to say I won't be returning and I will be letting all of the people I attend culinary school with down the street to do the same because this is not the first time I have dealt with rude workers and subpar food.
