I was in a local motel, and I didn't want to go out, so I did a DoorDash. What an amazing meal. I started with the chicken soup of the day. Yes, they have a different chicken soup each day. Mine was with the orzo. There was plenty of chicken, the orzo was just the right consistency, and the soup was delicious. For my sandwich, I had the gobbler wrap. Basically, Thanksgiving dinner in a wrap.. I love these type of sandwiches. It had turkey, cranberry, and apple stuffing. There was plenty of tender turkey, the stuffing was both sweet and rich at the same time, and the cranberry played very well with the other items in the sandwich. It was an amazing sandwich. From my side, I ordered the cilantro rice, and they sent me a giant tub of cilantro rice. The rice was perfect, perfectly done, and the cilantro added a very nice flavor. And if that is not enough food, it also came with coleslaw and a dill pickle. I loved the pickle, and the coleslaw was delicious, and not overdressed. They gave me enough food to last several meals, and the price was reasonable. I will try this place again. Thank you! read more

Food is still good, prices are much higher AND they have gone the way of everyone else in charging you service fees if you use a charge card (since my original review). All that plus a tip makes this an expensive DINER. Diners used to be much less expensive than regular restaurants, but that isn't the case anymore. My feeling is, get one dish and split it. Frankly, they give you too much food anyway. I always have leftovers, and that's nice, but I'd rather have the choice of being able to eat my meal in one sitting than always take some home. read more

There's not a diner for miles that's better than this place. Stopped in for lunch, got seated quickly, and good thing, bcuz within 20min it was jammed packed! The food never disappoints, and since I'm watching what I eat, I got the grilled vegy salad, very filling, with globs of fresh mozzarella, totally satisfying. For a diner, we felt Kings Valley did what it needed! For apps we had mozz sticks and spinach artichoke and while the mozzarella sticks were fairly standard we really loved the spinach artichoke dip which tasted fresh and flavorful and not too heavy or greasy! The chicken and waffles was a huuuuge portion for a really decent price and had rave reviews. The wraps were yummy though the buffalo chicken wrap was much more blue cheese than buffalo. The pesto panini was delish! Curly fries and sweet potato fries were both delicious too. Nothing missed so for a diner that's pretty good! The service is good and the staff seem to like what they are doing giving it a nice atmosphere. The food is a step up from most dinners. I had a short rib with delicious gravy, mash potatoes and the fresh green beens were sautéed in garlic like that of a nice restaurant. It came with a nice salad. It was $24 but it feed the left overs feed me and my wife lunch the following day. The same dish in a regular restaurant would is $28 to $38 depending on the place. The next time we went we each got French Onion soup which was delicious, not salty like too many places tend to make and we split a chef salad. I never saw more meat on a Chef salad. The next day my wife and I made sandwich's for lunch out it. The two times I went there I was impressed. Will return. read more

For me that was the Barclay Heights diner, but for my kingston friends it was Michael's. Kings Valley wasn't on my radar (KVD for short) but maybe that's because it was called Texas Lunch until 2001. I was already mostly done with my late night cheese fries and gravy faze by the time it changed names. Some people swear by KVD, but I never had a reason to change my spot. I found myself here over Christmas break and was pleasantly surprised. Pierogis with bacon (I'd say lardons) and fried brussels with honey sirachi and chipotle mayo were passed around the table. Steak salad looked spectacular and my burger was exactly as expected. Everything was delicious. We had a much better experience than the last time I was at EverReady. They were totally packed. place this place sucks I ordered my food to pick up. I had to wait 25 minutes. The order was completely wrong when I got home went back and they gave me another order which was completely wrong again. I was upset and I said I should ask for my money back. The guy didn't even hesitate. He said here take your money didn't hesitate to fix the problem that they had over an hour and 15 minutes. Our diner of choice in Kingston--great for breakfast. After several visits of experimentation, I've settled on their spinach and feta omelette with fries. Cooked light, not too wet, and not too crunchy. Their strawbanella waffle (strawberries, bananas, Nutella) is also pretty great but way too much sugar. Stopped here before heading back to CT on a dreary Sunday afternoon. I must say it was one of the sunny spots of the day. Arriving at 2pm we had no wait. We were presented with a typical huge, 2-sided diner style menu, which had everything you'd expect, but also a nice selection of signature salads and sandwiches. I chose a cup of chili and their take on a Cobb salad, which was laid on a bed of baby spinach, and included an entire grilled chicken breast. The chili was just OK, and was probably made with more convenience than scratch items. The Cobb salad was a delight, and included their House dressing, a tangy, lemony creamy Italian. Our server was a definite pro, taking our entire party of 6's order without writing anything down, and didn't miss a thing, a detail, or a special request...and in our group, there were several! A fave of mine is broiled salmon, with poached eggs on their cooked spinach. I love sautéd mushrooms & onions on top, toast on side. I get hollandaise sauce on the side, ohhh yea. The coolest part, is that as soon as your order is in his staff's hands, the magic begins. It's exactly like being home. Surrounded by people you love, who love & respect you. The only way cooking is done at home is by infusing love & laughter into each dish prepared. Same with KVD. I swear, my family whispered into their ears. Told many of those working there what I like & how I prefer it cooked. If you don't trust me, just ask the beautiful lady standing ready to take your order. Tell her your preferences, don't be a glut please! Please!They cook for numerous family members apparently. Honestly, I don't know, I've never eaten in his restaurant. My family and I eat in once per week. The food is good! The service is good! Unfortunately the last few times I've ordered food to go, it's the opposite. When I ordered food to go this evening, I mentioned to the young lady that the last few times I ordered food to go, I hardly got any fries with my sandwich. She placed my order through for a Corned Beef Reuben with Sweet Potato Fries, and an extra side of 1,000 island dressing. I know the sandwich with fries is listed for $14.95, plus a $0.50 upcharge for sweet potato fries. When she walked to the back of the house, I noticed she was wearing dark colored sweatpants...SWEATPANTS! When my ordered came out, I took it out of the bag and looked at it. Sure enough, there was less than a handful of fries. At that moment, that's strike 3. It may sound trivial to some people, but when a guest in a restaurant mentions that they were displeased with the lack of fries with their previous 2 to-go experiences, the least the restaurant can do is make an effort to please the guest. You upcharge $0.50 for fries, but can't even make an effort is a sign of this location focusing more on the bottom line than on customer service. It definitely was NOT the fault of the cashier because I know she doesn't make the fries. I mentioned this experience to my family before writing this, and they're in agreement that we will NOT be returning for any reason. The food is okay, but the last few times I went, I made the mistake of ordering a dish (salad, pasta, sandwich) which featured a chicken cutlet, which wasn't properly cleaned. It was chewy and had gristle each time and I kept kicking myself for not remembering that about their chicken (I have the exact same problem at Frank Guido's which is a much bigger sin given their prices). Anyway, I digress. I also experienced stomach distress after the last two visits and decided I was done with it. I had been going periodically for about 15 years before throwing in the towel. Not sure why this place doesn't have a higher rating. My friend and I went here for dinner after a movie, and everything we had was good. The server was nice and attentive, and my Turkey-grilled cheese sandwich was yummy. I had some of the calamari and fries my friend had ordered, and those were tasty too. The ambiance was the only thing I'd complain about because the floor and booth would shake every time someone walked by, and the parking lot is a little tight--but those things aren't enough for me to sway my overall opinion of the place. This past weekend by boyfriend and I went to King's Valley Diner hoping to have a relaxing diner experience. Instead, I received food poisoning. Not only was the food lackluster and just plain bad, but I experienced what seems like was actually racial targeting. I ordered a mimosa, and received a sledge of what turned out to be bad orange juice. My boyfriend, who is white, ordered the same and received a drink without expired orange juice, clearly normal in texture, color and smell--unlike my drink. The difference was jarring. Additionally, the waitress did not check on us once during our entire visit. We had to ask another staff member for boxes, and then flag her down for the check. We will not be returning, and I will be warning off my local friends and colleagues from this place. read more
