My first time at Nana's was a hot day. I just got my hair done and I felt really good and I wanted something sweet to complement the day. I see Nana's is open with nobody there in line. Where is usually the line is full of surrounding customers like bees upon a sweet honeycomb. So I go up to the window and Sir Lockz (I forgot his name) comes to the window and ask what would I like. I let them know. I've never been there before and I love anything chocolate. Sir Lockz made a couple of suggestions and I landed on my final decision and it was just a great experience. Well, it looks like over the winter, the previous business here, 9G Grill, was likely sold, and Nana's has been open a short time. I'm not really sure where to go here - I liked the food I got, but the place just has some loose ends that need to be straightened out for the place to achieve its potential. The people doing the actual work here were friendly and hard-working; the owner/manager feels a bit out of place with her "contributions." I'm not really sure what ice cream they're serving. On a window on the right side, there's a sign with the Nana's logo, listing all their flavors. But on a window on the left side, the list of (Perry's) ice cream flavors sold by the previous business is still hanging. They continue to sell both hard and soft ice cream, and for a milkshake, you have the option of with soft-serv or with hard ice cream for 75 cents more. The food menu is similar to - but not quite exactly the same - as the previous business. But there are some mis-matches between the menus on the windows and on the menu card you can take with you. For one thing, the card doesn't mention the salads. And their phone number wasn't on the card, so it was hand-written on all the copies. Perhaps that was a rush job. My sandwich, sausage and peppers, was freshly cooked and much larger than I expected it to be. So I consider that to be a good deal, though I would have liked a larger amount/cut of the fresh green peppers. All the meals are cooked to order, so allow a few minutes. There was also a woman walking around inside who I assume was the owner or manager. I'm not really sure what she's doing there except expedite, and not well. She'd ask the cooks if some order was ready, they'd say "It's coming," and she'd repeat that to the customers. I actually heard her say, "Chop chop!" to one of them. She also took my payment while the woman working the counter was doing something else, and she didn't give me the coin part of my change until I reminded her I was due some. So bottom line - give the place a try. I think you'll like the food, be patient while they prepare it for you, and enjoy some ice cream too. read more

I had high hopes for this place, considering how good the 9G Grill was in the same location last year. Sadly, these hopes were not fulfilled. At about one o'clock on a Sunday, I stopped by...and was the only customer. Not a good sign. I ordered a cheeseburger with fries and was okay with the total of $7 and change (no drink--I was taking it home to have a beer with it!). I had a couple of fries in the car and they were pretty good, the seasoned kind so the exterior was quite crispy. Not freshly-cut by any means. When I got it home, the bun seemed a bit large, and turned out it was a bit too big for the patty. The tomato was small and not ripe (not a surprise), the lettuce was chopped into one-inch squares, and the onions were also chopped. I've never seen this on a burger before. The worst part was the patty. I was heartened when I cut into it and saw that it was still a bit pink in the center. However, this patty, definitely pre-formed and probably frozen, had very little flavor and no juiciness at all. Loading it up with condiments and accompanying it with a 16 oz. beer was necessary to get it down. Dry, dry, dry. The staff was pleasant, but nowhere near as warm as the folks at 9G Grill last year. I didn't have any ice cream, which might be the draw here, but I'm not planning on coming back just for the ice cream when we have so many other choices around here in that department. I don't know if their other food is better, but I really only go to places like this for burgers. There are much better burgers around for the same $. I like supporting local businesses, but can't see doing so when the product isn't at least good. read more

Love this place! We've been a quite a few times and have not been disappointed yet. There are plenty ice cream flavors to choose from, including lactose free. The food is also pretty good. We love the burgers, fries and cheese sticks. They do change/add items on the menu which is fun and the people provide great customer service. Will be going again today:) read more
