Came here late to have some ice cream with the family and since we did not want anything fancy, we chose DQ. Additionally, I was happy they were opened late in a holiday. The closing time was 9:30. My husband had the ultimate cookie blizzard. He said it was ok but he would not get it again. My daughter had the confetti cake deep cone. She loved it! I had the banana split. It was better than I expected. Plus the banana was fresh and hard and not old and mushy. Restaurant was clean and the staff was nice. I would come back and also recommend it. read more

The Monroe Dairy Queen Grill & Chill is the first DQ where I have had a blizzard. I decided to order the cookie dough blizzard for my first. I know there is the Oreo, but personally I have not ever been one for Oreo cookies, just not my taste. So looking over the menu and remembering only that a blizzard is a frozen treat, I went with the cookie dough because cookie dough in ice cream can be good. I ordered the cookie dough blizzard at the drive-thru with no hassle. When I paid for and received the blizzard it was easy to tip and the worker I interacted with was calm and friendly. Chocolate chips historically have done a bit of damage to my teeth, I have the fillings to prove it, and fortunately DQ had a low chocolate content in the cookie dough in the blizzard I received. Made my teeth VERY happy! As for the taste of the blizzard, it was a hit. I parked in a nearby parking lot and ate it in one go (I did order a small). The treat reminded me most of soft serve ice cream only with other goodies mixed in. Turns out there is something more decadent than plain soft serve ice cream I enjoy, nice surprise. read more

I absolutely love Dairy Queen for 2 main things - Blizzards and Onion Rings. The Blizzards are obviously the main draw here - they have crazy flavors and they change all the time - mint chip, cookie dough, Samoa cookies, cheesecake, etc... - lots of variety for anyone. The ice cream is heavenly. They're thick. They're sweet. They're awesome. The onion rings are also pretty darn good - when I've gotten them, they're extremely fresh and super crispy. I've been to this location for actual food once, and I remember it was OKAY. We never went back if that says anything. However, I used to live near a Dairy Queen that was absolute perfection every single time, and it was truly amazing - particularly the "Flamethrower Burger" - pretty spicy, double meat, bacon, pepper jack, etc... wow. I haven't replicated that experience at any other 'Queens, though. read more

My daughter went through the drive thru and got a banana split and 2 blizzards. It was a mess the whip cream was liquid and the whole thing was soup. The blizzards were the same way very melty no form and they gave no lids so it was a mess. I don't care if you're busy it's common sense. read more

Definitely gotta agree with the people saying there are hardly any toppings in the blizzards. I think this location's owners are super stingy. One trick I see them do all the time is put in half the toppings and only mix the top half of the blizzard, so it looks fine till you take a few bites and realize the entire bottom half is untouched. A month ago I ordered my nephew a medium m&m blizzard and he counted 12 m&ms in the whole thing. Also don't go here in the winter months, their soft serve tastes a little sour sometimes in the slow season. I've often suspected they might use it past its date if they don't sell it in time. It seems like maybe the owners are also really unpleasant to work with because when they are there the staff looks super on edge. Got two ice cream treats. We asked for lids because they didn't put them on for us even in a drive through which seemed odd. The lady at the drive through slammed the window on us put lids on and then aggressively handed them to us. Then slammed the window again. No have a good day nothing. Dependable roadside stop. The restaurant was clean, service was fast and the food was served hot and fresh. Had the chicken strip basket. It was tasty. The only negative is how small the sauce is. An absolute failure of a "fast" food restaurant. I waited for 26 minutes (!) in the drive thru, since their indoor service is still unavailable. They're not cheap, and their offerings aren't so irresistible that you'd wait that long. Hell, I would walk out of an indoor restaurant if I had to wait that long for service. Intolerable! I was told at the window that they were understaffed and some dildo was giving them a hard time for some reason. Whatever, have a delivery space available to avoid holding up customers with their shit together. I waited that long sucking up a diesel pickup truck's noxious exhaust fumes. I watched them hand him his food. They took his payment, and three minutes later handed him his order. WTF took so long? You had 20 minutes to get the order together to pass along! End of the story is that I told them to eat my order, they're not getting my money for such shit service. If you have a shortage, either offer better pay (even McDonald's doesn't seem short staffed) or close the damn doors if you don't have personnel necessary to serve your customers. read more

For years, students and families throughout the area have traditionally filled Monroe DQ after their concerts, plays and other special events. I join them in thanking Monroe DQ for supporting Sky Valley Education Center Musical Theater Group Fundraiser at the 12th Annual Monroe Lip Sync Contest. I am very impressed with Harry, the Owner/Manager, who agreed to donate the Pretzel Sticks to help support Sky Valley Education Center Musical Theater Group Fundraiser at the 12th Annual Monroe Lip Sync Contest. We'd had requests from our audience for savory items for sale and this was a great addition!! Harry was thoughtful and took the time to learn about the request and to explain what he could do to take part. Having had this very positive experience with Harry; and good conversations with him even though he is a VERY busy Manager, I see Monroe DQ through completely different eyes. I am amazed how slammed his Dairy Queen gets with so many people to serve at once during their peak times... that must be a lot of stress. And as for some of the comments about the bathrooms... I would say that the patrons should be a whole lot more respectful of a public facility and do their part to help keep the bathrooms tidy for the next people. Thank you Harry and Monroe Dairy Queen for giving back to the community by donating Pretzel Sticks with Zesty Cheese Sauce for the Concession Stand to resell. We sold all of them and people enjoyed them! This was a very positive experience between Dairy Queen, the Monroe Community, and SVEC Musical Theater. read more

After letting my son eat a cheeseburger and then arriving 5 minutes or so later to a friends house nearby I discovered that the meat was raw. The patty was like 1/4" thickness. Fairly thin so its hard to understand how that it could not be cooked more than that. It was probably frozen and only the outside cooked. It was dark in the car and I never saw the meat till we got inside our friends house. Worse, upon returning and showing the staff, they took down a name and number but didn't think it was serious. I asked the girl, probably 15 or 16 years of age, to make sure that the cook knew and to pay better attention. I don't believe it even phased her. She probably didn't know what to do either. No manager on shift. And no attempt to contact the manager. Probably not even an adult on the premise as in a person over 18 years of age. My feeling is that an issue like this, bad mistakes and lack of management, means that no one cares. read more

Very disappointing for a Dairy Queen. Although the food was fine; cleanliness was an issue. There weren't enough people working for how busy the restaurant was inside so there were dirty tables, spilled soda on the floor. Outside was much worse. As I sit 3 cars deep in the drive-thru, I am becoming more enraged about this establishment forgetting my ranch. I have been here two times... this being my second. Both times I got a chicken strip basket to go. This is also the second time they have forgotten to give me ranch. Also the second time for me not to realize until I drove home and got into pajamas. The food's not bad, the milkshakes are good. What I don't like is the drive thru, after one leaves the window there's no easy way back to the restaurant. On my last visit, the ranch dressing was forgotten. I had barely left the window but to get back to restaurant would have taken 15 minutes of driving, u-turns, and waiting on multiple stoplights or else a blockade of the drive thru exit. As far as DQs go, this is probably one of the better locations I've visited anywhere on the West Coast. It's comfortable and clean and the food is properly prepared. DQ is quite lousy in general (for burgers, etc), but the treats are amazing! One tip is the chicken salad--actually quite good. This location may need their people a bit better trained.
