Today I drove my son to Scapoose for an All Star double header to prep for the District Tournament next week. I was hungry and the coaches and players had arrived so I drove 1/2 a mile down the road. The DQ was one of the strangest locations I have ever been to. It was in a strip mall on the corner...just looked odd to me. I got a double flamethrower burger combo. The burger was very small, much smaller than I remember, but it was tasty and even though it fell apart the burger and toppings had a good flavor and just a little heat. It could have used a couple raw jalapeños a la Five Guys. As i said portion size was pretty small. Reminded me a little of the "Biggie Bags", without nuggets and not $7. But honestly more would have been overkill and I am pretty satisfied. Especially after the free Dilly Bar for filling out the survey. The only negative was the fact that the food wasn't actually brought to my table. I mean that's that the numbers are for right. As a sister to a former employee the owner is not to good with her staff they give them their schedules the day before or of. When I go there after school some days the service is okay. Fast and hot food, even when we showed up at closing. They were friendly and understanding. Pulled in, badly needing food and frustrated after Popeyes in St Helens treated us and all the other cars in line to a 40 min wait and then didn't take our orders, despite still being open. Dairy Queen gave us the opposite and we're very kind and rushed to get us food. We really appreciated it. Saved our night and got our family fed. read more

As a former employee of Dairy Queen, I feel compelled to share my experience, or should I say, nightmare, with future customers. Let's start with the basics: food safety regulations. It's alarming how consistently these were disregarded. Not a single employee bothered with gloves. as for when i started an i asked about the reason no one would wear gloves the owner simply said "it's never became a health code rule. If you want to wear gloves, you can." word for word that is the response i got. they instead relied solely on hand sanitizer as a substitute for proper hand washing. mind you the time i had worked there i had only ever seen one person use it once. Witnessing bare hands touching food, money, and then food again was a common occurrence. Freshness was a foreign concept; most of the food had been sitting out for days, yet it was still being used in orders. at the end of the day food should be thrown out considering most food at restaurants an or fast food places has a holding time. instead they would put it back in the fridge an say it's good for days. as for fried food the holding time was not relevant either, it would sit an get hard or just flat out go bad yet still would be served. It was a breeding ground for bacteria. The walls were yellowed and caked in food and sauce, a testament to years of neglect. The kitchen itself was a nightmare. Don't even get me started on the lack of hygiene protocols - no tongs were ever used, expect for raw hamburger. now don't get me wrong in total they have 3 tongs. 1 for the raw hamburger, one for cooked hamburger and one that was just sitting on the board untouched. to grab any of the food items no tongs were used even thought tongs were there to be used. they used the same fryers for everything from fries to chicken and fish, a recipe for cross-contamination. Now, talk about the management. Their disregard for employee well-being was appalling. Sick, injured, or simply unable to come into work? Tough luck. Requests for time off, no matter how far in advance they were made, were dismissed without consideration, regardless of the reason. It was clear that the management had an inability to care about their employees, no matter what they were going through. i know plenty of people in town know about no gloves use i will still go out of my way to tell my peers to avoid this place. seriously. read more

I used to frequent here quite a bit... and never had a complaint. However, the last 3 times I've been here they have messed up my order. Whether it's food or ice cream, wrong thing, and it's not even close to the right thing. I would normally go back and have them fix, but I live about 20 minutes away and by the time I realize it's wrong, I don't want to drive back and waste more time and money(since gas prices are sky high). It's just disappointing that management has gotten so bad, and it's even worse since they aren't busy when I've gone. Huge lack of leadership and accountability. Extremely disappointing. Then return it to the service area where the food comes out of the kitchen! The whole place is filthy! Hey, it's dairy queen. The menu is the same everywhere and generally the quality is the same. Stopped by here as the kid wanted a snack. It's a decent location with a decent sized seating area. My only complaint is that they got part of the order wrong. Wanted a frozen hot chocolate, not a moolate. the kid doesn't need coffee!! I got the new fudge stuffed cookie because I get brain freezes sooooo easily so I thought the combo of something hot & cold would be great.... WRONG. The description of it says "A warm, decadent chocolate chip cookie with a gooey fudge center, served hot from the oven with cold, creamy DQ® vanilla soft serve and Cocoa Fudge." My cookie was soooo burnt & hard I couldn't even eat it! The chocolate in the inside... I am very up and down with this Dairy Queen... sometimes people have a smile but mostly when I come in the workers seem like they hate their jobs and it rubs off on everyone. I have been screamed at by an employee for not hearing my number called when I have hearing problems, they usually mess up my order every time I go, but luckily fix it more then half the time. This DQ needs to do something like McDonalds and park people and walk food out. It takes FOREVER for the person at the window to get their food which causes the line to back up for 5-10 cars back. Someone has to wait 20 minutes for an ice cream cone just because someone's fries are taking a while. It's awful. It takes so long people will drive away that are waiting in line and go elsewhere. The chef behind the Blizzard is phenomenal. Nobody crafts a Reese's blizzard like the chef at scappoose DQ. 10/10, all compliments to the chef. I believe I spotted that the wizard blizzard creators name was Mikayla, and she deserves a nice raise. Can't wait to come back! read more
