It's the kind of spot where you can actually relax and enjoy your time together. The staff was on top of everything from start to finish. Friendly, attentive, and clearly experienced (I overheard one say she had been working there since before one of the regulars kids were even born, 30 years I believe), they made sure drinks stayed full, orders were correct, and everyone at the table felt taken care of without being overbearing. You can tell the team communicates well and actually cares about the experience they're providing, which makes such a difference, especially when you're hosting guests and want to catch up. The food was excellent, we all had breakfast this time, it was well-prepared, and satisfying across the board. Everyone at our table left happy, full, and smiling. Ichabod's really shines as a community staple--a place that feels like home, except they do the dishes. I have lived in Scappoose for only a few years, but love this place. We have so many memories tied to this restaurant already. When our dog passed and we had no desire to cook, we picked up biscuits and gravy. She did not bring it up to the staff because she was shy and doesn't speak very good English. Approximately 2 hours later, my mom is throwing up her food. She continues to throw up for the next day and a half. We assumed it was food poisoning from the burger because that's all she had eaten when the vomiting started. She also started to experience severe pain in her abdomen and left side of her lower back. She eventually saw a doctor when she went back to her home state and was told she had colitis, which was possibly caused from ingesting an undercooked burger or being exposed to Ecoli. I attempted to contact the BK location directly to inform them of the issue but their store phone number only that had selections to speak to a manager that went directly to a voicemail. I left multiple messages for the store manager, as well as the district manager, but did not get a call back. I then filed a complaint through BK's online chat through their website and some customer service person reached out through email to get details of my issue. About a week or two later, I receive a phone call from the manager of the Scappoose Burger King Location. She was very rude from the beginning of the phone call. She told me my complaint was very serious and causing her store to go through multiple visits by the health inspector's office. I expressed I wouldn't have brought up the issue if it had not occurred. She told me my situation did not make sense and that my mom should have made a complaint at the time of the incident, if it had occurred. She insinuated multiple times that I was making things up. I have no reason for making up this issue, I am not gaining anything out of it. My mom has medical documentation to prove what happened to her and the pain she went through for weeks. The manager's lack of empathy and costumer service was disappointing to say the least. When I informed her I left multiple voicemails to her store phone number, she told me they did not have a phone for her store. Than changed her story saying they had disconnected that phone number due to prank calls. When asked how people were supposed to get a hold of her store for actual inquires she said "I don't know". Burger King has gotten so bad over the years. I do not recommend this location at all.
