We came to this Dairy Queen after dinner, excited for dessert, but it turned into a frustrating experience. They were out of multiple toppings--no cherries, no peanut butter, and more--which limited our options. I ordered a strawberry sundae with marshmallow and hot fudge, but it was a huge letdown. There was absolutely no marshmallow, only two small strawberry pieces, and barely a drizzle of chocolate. My son's kids cone was oversized and lopsided, making a massive mess because the chocolate shell didn't even cover the seam, so the cone kept tipping over. My husband's peppermint chocolate shake was decent, but it didn't make up for the rest of the disappointing experience. Definitely won't be coming back anytime soon. read more

Pros: -The Blizzards come with a good amount of toppings. -They do a nice job with the non-hamburger hot food. Cons: -The hamburgers look like they've been involved in some kind of condiment massacre. -The drive-though window is often filthy and covered in finger prints. -The other day I ordered a shake and they gave me the completely wrong flavor. I went to this DQ location because it is close to the nursing home my mother has been a patient at. I live an hour away and am not familiar with restaurants in the area and my mother always likes a strawberry shake. Well I stopped by the drive thru on my way today ordered her a strawberry shake a Diet Coke for myself and a sandwich and food for my mom. After waiting in the drive thru for at least 10 minutes the person at the window handed me the bag of good after he ran my card and said have a nice day . I told him that I also had drinks (a girl took my order) - he looked dumbfounded and asked me to wait a minute because it wasn't on the order. This is where the entire visit goes bad - a girl with blonde hair came to the window and said " if you want to additional items to your order you need to go back through the drive thru because we are too busy to add items and you need to order it separately " I said I'm not adding new items to my order - I ordered the drinks and it doesn't seem they were added to the order. She then said no your adding to your order because we didn't put it on the order . So I said so your telling me I have to be inconvenienced and wait even longer because you made a mistake on my order ?? And she said yes . Seriously? Well guess what - I pulled around the corner and found a McDonald's. I'll never stop there again - and now that I see how many other places that are close by I would advise others to avoid this place. Peanut Butter Natzi When I ask for extra peanut butter on the side. One of the workers started filling up a cup. The owner yelled at the girl "what are you doing, why didn't you ask me". She total micro manages her employees, it's So sad. The owner proceeds tells me to go to Target or dollar general b/c it's cheaper. Our family refers to this as "The Dirty Dairy Queen". The owner is the worst employee by far. When we see her Mercedes parked there we're always hoping one of the kids will make our cones or Blizzards instead of her - we've gotten some sad treats from her. One time a large part of the cone broke after it was made and instead of remaking it she just stuck the broken cone inside another cone and handed it to us. Anyplace else I would've refused something like this and insisted on a replacement, but I was so shocked I didn't know what to say and just took it and drove away. Nonetheless, since my 2 year-old had been waiting all day for his cone, we bought one for him anyway. It was your standard DQ soft serve. If you want soft serve in Valpo though, go to Culver's across the street, or YoMazing over by Target. The air-conditioning actually functions and the people are nicer. read more

Restaurant is extremely outdated and feels dirty. The employees were friendly and provided prompt service but the blizzards were skimpy. At other DQs the ice cream overflows the cup but our blizzards did not completely fill the cup from here. Will head to Culvers or another DQ when in the area instead. read more

So, I go to this DQ often as it's on the way to work, but today was just not ok. I ordered a 4 piece chicken tender basket, and a nice young man brought it out to the table for me. However, there was a long black hair in the basket with my food. So, I took it up to the counter and kind of hush hush tried to tell them like, "hey I like you guys, but this is gross can I get a new chicken basket?" The manager, who is well known for being rude, accused me of putting the hair there in front of everyone. I have blonde hair. HOW THE HECK IS THAT BLACK HAIR MINE? She eventually agreed to give me a new basket. I stood where I could see into the kitchen and she proceeded to put everything that was in my hair chicken basket into a bag and gave it to someone in the drive-thru. Hadn't been here in awhile but stopped today around 6pm to grab some burgers to take home. Place was empty except for group of 5 people in front of me. They placed their order and then went to sit down. I proceeded to counter to place my order. One guy was making their order, and another girl working there just walked away like I wasn't even there! She proceeded to go back and forth getting cups to fill storage racks, each time looking right at me and walking by. After at least 15 minutes without being waited on, I got disgusted and left and went across the street to Culver's for my burgers! The person standing behind me in line at Dairy Queen also walked out right behind me with no order! I'll be going to the Dairy Queen on the north side of town from now on. read more

The blizzards are made the night before sometimes and placed in a freezer... not the way that ice cream IS supposed to be especially at a place like this. The later you go, the worse your food quality. The employees are excellent! However, the owner is very rude to customers and employees. My kids and I visit this DQ place at least 3 times a month. Every time we go there, we were treated with respect and the staff is very polite and respectful. The restaurant is in a great location and very clean. I can't wait for my next visit and my kids love this place. read more
