To my dismay, they've expanded their brand and added Coco's Market right next door to the restaurant. AND IT'S SO FRICKEN COOL INSIDE!! You can find almost anything in there and it's a great place to get authentic Mexican souvenirs such as hats, keychains, belts, aprons, and so much more. Apart from that they also sell grocery items like avocados, limes, rice , canned items, rice, tomatoes etc... and get this, you can even send money to different countries!! The true definition of a one-stop-shop! TALK ABOUT DECOR!! This place will uplift your spirit from the moment you enter through the double doors. I love how much attention they put into making the space feel and look stunning. One a cold wintery day like today, the little things like this matter most. Seating area is nice and the noise level was adequate with a touch of Mexican cumbia music! I wasn't really in the mood for meat and I love that their expansive menu can accommodate my peculiar eating patterns lol. I started off with a HOT bowl of Mexican Menudo, then a plate of Mexican rice, beans and tortillas on the side with cheese inside.. Y-U-M-M-Y!!! This was followed by a platter of picadas (that I shared with my partner), a cup of Mexican prepared corn (esquite) and washed it all down with a glass of horchata! Overall it was to die for! I've spent a good chunk of time in Cuernavaca, Mexico and the food here reminds me so much of the food there. Coco's roots trace back to Maltrata, Vera Cruz in Mexico and I love how they've blessed the community here with a taste of home. It's located in the heart of Northfield on a strip that can be considered their downtown, so there's lots of petite mom and pop shops that you can browse. Decent amount of parking in the front area, otherwise you can also swing in the back of the building and find more parking. Going to Coco's is now a routine whenever I'm in Northfield and one that I can get used to :) Fast service + family-oriented + hot and freshly made food = Coco's Place. Once again, I left a happy camper ;)

There's a reason this place is beloved in Northfield and always full. From the cute handmade ice cream labels and the local artwork, to the photos on the bulletin board from around the world and cozy booths, and the ole/carl/townie tip jars, this place is the best and I always crave it when I'm away from Northfield!

They've recently added cupcakes (and ice cream sandwiches in the summertime!), and the chocolate cupcake with strawberry butter cream frosting is so delicious it might just make you swoon a bit. They did a GF chocolate cake for Valentines Day that was to die for. What really pushed me over the edge was an experience I had a year ago. My friends and I had made our way down to Carbones to buy some wings from their promotional event. During our time there we had waited for 30 min...then another 30 min and then another 30 min! Eventually, we got up and approached our waiter to ask where our food was. We were told that it would only be a little bit more time. So we waited about 30 more minutes and finally our food came out. To our surprise the wings that we ordered were all undercooked. When mentioning this to our waiter, and thus the general manager, she seemed very, VERY annoyed with us. Keep in mind that we had been waiting for about two hours. The general manager immediately snapped back asking what was the problem with food, even though it was obvious that they forgot about us and rushed our order (thus the raw wings). rather than admitting that they were undercooked, she said she would make us an order again more to our "liking" if you can't believe it, this isn't even the worst part of our experience! . When it came time to pay the bill we were informed the credit card service was off-line and we had to make a cash payment. We didn't know what to do because we did not have cash. The general manager came and informed us that we had to go to an ATM and withdraw cash. However, she made it very, very clear that we were not allowed to all go together, implying that we were going to try to "steal the food" and by implying, I mean, she said that , "You better not all leave, one of you has to stay". What made me so upset about this interaction is that we were the ONLY people of color inside of the restaurant and she did not have the same tone of voice or language with any of the other customers AT ALL! I paid very close attention to how she spoke to the other customers. It was not our fault that their credit card service went down, but the fact that she demanded that one of us stay while someone had to go to the ATM was so disrespectful. Keep in mind this was the manager saying this! We had been to Carbones multiple times before this, and we always tipped! It seems there was only 1 reason for her to treat us like this.... We ended up sending one person out to the ATM to collect cash and STILL left a tip because it was the manager treating us poorly not our waiter. Would not recommend this place to anyone!

I used to drive 60 miles each day just to get dinner at this joint, come to find out they have a attic I could stay in. All I do is crawl in the vents until I get to the ladder, than I just climb down and grab myself a pizza. This is the greatest establishment on the planet. They also have Gas Pumps for my 1986 station wagon. This is a gem in the town of Northfield and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else besides the attic of the Casey's Gas Station. My best friend loves there cheesy potato bites. The customer service hasn't been bad for me; although sometimes they're kind of so so. But most of the time I'm greeted when I walk through the doors and sometimes depending on who's working I'll have a full on conversation with them. I've never really had a bad encounter with them. It's not dirty; and things are stocked accordingly.
