For me, the vibe here is cozy even with an industrial look inside. It seemed busy, but the wait was actually only 20 min. I was able to wait upstairs in their lounge bar area. That's super nice and gave us somewhere to sit down. It's bigger than it looks from the outside. There was plenty of room I noticed when walking in and out. The wild rice soup is pretty good and a little different. Saw a lot of people ordering that. I chose the Porterhouse steak with Mac and Cheese and Broccolini. Steak was good and seasoned pretty good but was cooked past medium, I think. I love Mac and Cheese, and I thought it was pretty good. Should maybe come in a separate dish, though, because steak juice was mixing into it. It's just a pointer for people who might not like that. The broccolink was okay. I guess I'm not a fan of it. Cake tasted good, but it was a little dried out. The apple tart was absolutely delicious order that for sure. I would go back because the Outlaw Burger sounds so good. read more

I really loved the vintage, industrial vibes here. Really cool, old, brick walls. Different rooms and seating. They had some decent menu offerings and classy cocktails to choose from. We really were set on the duck wontons for a starter. They were of course out of them! So sad. So we tried the fried mushrooms. They were horrible! The batter was hard and when you cut into it the mushroom just fell out of it. The batter had no seasoning. For entrees, we tried the pork chop and airline chicken. Everything is woodfired so it all tasted like it was grilled. I didn't mind the pork chop. The "jam" on it tasted just like bbq sauce. The airline chicken was seasoned with rosemary and was a little dry. The sides were absolutely horrible. Icecream scooped mashed potatoes....(that's all I have to say about that). The risotto was so plain and wasn't creamy at all. Needed wayyy more Parmesan, garlic or butter. Nothing was seasoned. The coleslaw had no taste. The zucchini squash mix had no seasoning! We were seated promptly for an early dinner at 5:45 pm on a Saturday. The wait staff was efficient and the appetizer was wonderful. However.... It was apparent that there were differences between the online menu and the menu we were given at seating. The portion size for a sirloin steak ($34) is incorrect on the table menu. It says 14 oz. The actual size was 10 oz. Additionally, although the steak was accurately cooked, it was served on a cold plate, so that by the time it was presented, it was no longer warm enough to melt the rosemary infused butter with which it was dressed. The steak was pretty chewy, considering the price. Also: The table menu advertised "Soup and Salad", in letters 3/4" high, implying that it was a combo. The only indication that there was a separate price for the soup was in very small print in a color so similar to the background of the menu that it was difficult to see in the dimly lit seating area. As a result, our expected tab of $63 plus tax was over $75. We noted that there are older, invalid menus for Reunion easily findable on the web. They actually come up higher in a google search than the current menu. But that's a different story. I brought these issues to the attention of the manager, hoping for at least a conciliatory apology, but she offered none, insisting that no one had ever complained about any of the issues before and that she saw nothing that needed to be corrected. I paid the bill as presented, and included a generous tip for the server. But we won't be back. People deserve better. read more

We had a great experience here during a day trip to Northfield. We ordered a couple of burgers along with a beer and a cocktail, and it absolutely hit the spot after hiking around a nearby state park. We were starving, and the food did not disappoint. Everything about the burger was delicious. The bun was soft with a perfectly crispy underside, and the whole thing had a melt in your mouth bite that was so satisfying. You can really tell care goes into the food. The service was friendly and welcoming, and it was not too busy since we came at an off hour in a Saturday, which made for a relaxed experience. Slightly elevated ambiance, but still cozy with the warm brick walls. Street parking was easy as well. We stopped here for dinner after golf and it was an excellent choice. It was a bit busy, so instead of waiting for a table, we bellied up to the bar. I had a glass of their house red wine which was good. I noticed they had beer from a local brewery just down the street which is cool. For my entree, I chose the sirloin steak cooked medium rare. You can choose two from 6 delicious sides and I chose the loaded brussel sprouts and the green beans. The veggies were fresh and the perfect sides for me. The steak had a great char on in and some flavorful spices. With the woodfire cooking, it was absolutely delicious. So loved my meal. Husband had the pulled pork sandwich and homemade kettle chips. He loved his meal as well. The interior was beautiful with lots of open exposed brick, indoor/outdoor seating, and an upstairs loft area to enable high ceilings and open spaces. Staff was excellent. A bun would have been better as the bread fell apart due to its juiciness. My side was the mac and cheese and it was very bland and not very saucy. We came here for a celebration dinner and had a pretty good experience. The food was solid overall. Reunion is definitely the spot in Northfield for something a little more upscale, especially since there is not much competition in town. Prices are a bit higher than what you might expect for the portions and quality, but that makes sense given the local options. The staff were very friendly and welcoming, which made the night better. I ordered the homemade chicken tenders, which were delicious. We also tried the chicken wings, flatbread pizza, and fried dill pickles, which were a special that day. Everything tasted great and came out hot. I also got their version of a mai tai, which was flavorful and worth getting again. Celebrating a friend's birthday and we brought in a cake and unfortunately they charge a cake cutting fee. I visited with a few friends. One friend was vegan, and they ordered a black bean burger and really enjoyed it. TL;DR -- Let me start by saying that I visited Reunion for the first time on a Friday and returned the next day. The food here is quite good, and the service was amazing. I'd highly recommend ordering from Ben at the bar. He's personable, knowledgeable, and an all-around trustworthy counsel for navigating Reunion's menu. I ordered The Matador cocktail and the Rib dinner my first time visiting Reunion. The Matador was a nice, orange-based Mezcal cocktail. The Ribs were nice and tender. Mine were slightly burnt around the edges, but the rib meat was nice and tender. The food was so good on Friday that I returned on Saturday. That day I sat at the bar and ordered a glass of M. Chapoutier Rose and Reunion's hand-breaded, "fresh, never frozen," chicken tenders. The rose was light and refreshing. I'd highly recommend it! The chicken tenders were the highlight of my visits to Reunion. The breading was light, and the chicken was buttery. I ordered both honey mustard and bbq sauce. Stopped in to Reunion for a late lunch after spending the morning shopping downtown Northfield. There was still a scattering of a lunch crowd lingering and we were offered indoor or outdoor seating. We had the $9 Soup and Salad lunch special and selected a Caesar Salad with New England Clam Chowder. The salad was tasty with just the right amount of dressing and delicious crunchy croutons topped by a good amount of shaved parmesan. The Chowder was top notch - maybe the best we've ever had. Very flavorful, well seasoned and nicely creamy with chunks of clam and potato. Apparently there is a "soup chef" who prepares the soups every morning. Service was fast, friendly and attentive. The restaurant is inserted into an historic building and features a lot of warm brick, remnants of previous uses and structure contrasted by insertions of black steel stairs and railings for a funky industrial vibe. read more

We've had the amazing nachos- a very large portion to share. We had that as our meal once and loved the brisket on it. I've had the cheeseburger and the pulled pork too, all delicious. Came here for the first time to celebrate my wife's birthday on a Thursday evening. From past experiences, I knew I had to make reservations to get a table so I set that up a few weeks before we came. I read from other reviews that the drink list is good so we decided to give a couple drinks that caught our eye a try - North Fashioned and Weekend at Grandma's. The North Fashioned was a classic old fashioned with a slight molasses twist. I was hoping for more of a punch of molasses in the drink but it was pretty faint. Even though, it was an OK OF. Grandma's drink on the other hand was a unique and fun drink. It was made with rhubarb syrup, lemon juice, and pineapple juice and I had no clue on how those would mix. They mixed amazingly to create a tart, sugary, sweet concoction that would make a perfect patio porch sipper. The rhubarb was strong enough to shine through the fruit juices and made a bizarre but wonderful drink. Food wise, both of us instantly zeroed in the Garlic Shrimp Risotto. I love shrimp and grits and this looked pretty close. It was my wife's birthday and we wanted to try more of the menu so I ceded the dish to her and decided to one of their main dishes - the New York strip steak. Upon arrival, our plate had plenty of food to eat through. Kudos to the brussel sprouts, crunchy and savory and oh so good. Shrimp were tender and the risotto had good garlicky butter flavor. The steak was cooked to order and tasty but I could of used a little more blue cheese on top but that is because I LOVE blue cheese. The potatoes dishes were staying, very crispy fries but not as garlicky as I would have preferred. We were full and satisfied after the meal. Prices for our food were very fair based on how much on the quantity and quality. A dinner like this in MPLS would easily be double the price. Service was good, our waitress missed a couple things (no ketchup for fries, water refills) but she had a good amount of tables to manage and so handled her duties well enough. Some highs, some lows. TL;DR I'll absolutely give this place another try. Was in town for the St. Olaf parent's weekend. Following the concert, we headed to Reunion. Were seated promptly. It got quite bust but our server was friendly and attentive and the beer selection was solid, and the Old Fashioned delicious. Ordered some Brussels sprouts - one before were ordered and one with our order they were so tasty. The bummer was the second order came after our meals arrived. Meal arrival was were things got rocky. First I'll say the food was good. But there were some issues. My wife and I had the French dip (a special) and when they arrived there was no au jus - which is the "dip" in French dip. We waited a longish time to them to arrive. My 14-year-old's burger never did arrive, and the server had to put in the order again. She was very apologetic and immediately said the burger would be removed from the bill - all around solid service recovery. However, by the time everyone at the table had finished their meals, the burger had still not shown up, and he was starting to feel both sad and embarrassed. I got up to ask about it (it was at least 15-20 minutes after the mistake was realized at this point - again, we had all completely finished our meals) and the person I asked about it impatiently told me that they knew we were waiting on a burger, but that the kitchen was busy, and a lot of other orders were "ahead" of it. This is what places this as a three star review. When it is realized that an order is screwed up, why is that order placed at the end of the order queue - why isn't it prioritized? That it wasn't, and that I was clearly bothering the person I was asking about it even though we were all trying to be understanding and polite about it - became the bummer of the experience. I had the Pesto Ravioli. it was very good & a good size portion. I then had coffee cheesecake for desert-YUMMY! The only thing missing was a bread stick or slice of garlic bread to sop up the pesto sauce after the ravioli was gone. The burgers and chicken sandwich are ok, but not worth the price. The sauces they come with were inedible, I almost gagged on the tomato jam. This is the best "upscale" restaurant in Northfield, but it doesn't compare to anything you could find in the twin cities.
