We happened upon Nick's during a drive through Cannon Falls. What a find! This place is adorable and the food and service were great.

Great food, love the real, not deli, turkey! Friendly staff, great location, indoors and out.

We stopped at Nick's for breakfast before heading back up to the cities; the restaurant is cute inside, with an old diner feel plus modern touches. Their patio is really nice, shady & a retaining wall/plants on one side. 3ish different servers helped us, & all were attentive & fairly quick. Our food came out tasting fresh & hot! I got avocado toast & a side of hash browns. The avocado toast was different than I'd expected, but really good. The wheat toast was perfectly toasted, eggs were runny & delicious, & the everything bagel seasoning on top was perfect. The hash browns were very crispy, & needed some extra salt, but were otherwise tasty. I also got an iced vanilla latte, which came out quickly & was yummy! read more

This was a weekend stop during a busy soccer game Saturday. I preface that because I want to say this place may have been way understaffed for the day. However, my reviews reflect on the experience I had that day not the one "I could have had." The place was FULL when we arrived at 1130 but we were able to get a table for 6 and a highchair in under 10 minutes which was pretty good! That was the end of the good service. We waited a good 15 minutes for our order to be taken and then a whooping hour for our food to arrive. I thought my son was crazy to allow an hour and a half before the soccer game to have a meal, but we barely made the 1PM start time. When the food arrived, it was very good. I always enjoy a place that allows you to order breakfast anytime. We decided to order the house specialty appetizer, Homemade Jumbo Tater Tots. They arrived in a reasonable amount of time about 15 minutes. They were EPIC huge! The taste was a bit disappointing as I think the extra creamy inside did it for me. Otherwise, good flavor. The chicken fried steak was average. The sausage gravy was good as were the eggs. Hashbrowns were a bit undercooked for me but that was partly my fault, I should have asked for extra crispy. The place is really cool with lots of memorabilia and just a neat little cafe. Certainly, could be a much better rated place but the service really brought my rating down, however, I would give it another shot! read more

Stopped in for breakfast after a bike ride and was pleasantly surprised how good this was. The sausage gravy on the country fried steak was probably some of the best I've ever had (wish the breading on the steak was a little crispier but the gravy more than made up for it). Also got the Nick's mess skillet and that was great too. Can't wait to go back. read more

Found it on Yelp and wanted to try it as my friend and I visit Cannon Falls for the first time Ordered - Eggs Benedict Special (2.5/5). This was really heavy. The eggs benedict was not what I expected - it came out really mushy and overpowering. It was a grand slam of a meal, but I just couldn't finish it. I had lunch here with friends mid-ride on the Cannon Valley Trail. Glad we arrived early-ish when seating was available; it filled up fast! We sat on the patio. Super friendly service, but I was a little less impressed with the food. I had a burger and upgraded to "Tater tots." My first order was cold in the middle; server and cook were gracious and quickly replaced it with some that were properly cooked. Also, be aware: these "tots" turned out not to be actual tots but two giant deep fried potato croquettes filled with cheese. If I'd realized what they were actually going to be, I would have stuck with regular fries, no upcharge. Fortunately, they appealed to my dining companions so we swapped and I got some fries after all. My friends opted for sandwiches that they were happy with. read more

There were so ,many issues with this restaurant. Two orders were not filled until all the other food was served. The grilled cheese was burned on the outside and the cheese was not melted. They forgot our malt and did not offer beverages to all of us. The worst part was the significant number of flies (very unsantitary) and bees. We traveled from Fort Myers, FL to Duluth, MN dining out approximately 20 times. I can truly say that the best meal I had was at Nick's diner in Cannon Falls. I have never seen teriyaki green beans anywhere; sounds odd but an absolutely great variation on a common side dish. It's comes with the meat loaf. Enjoy. read more

We had an 11:10 am tee time at The Summit and decided to hit Nick's for breakfast beforehand. This was our second time visiting as we are from the Twin Cities. We ordered the special, ham and cheese omelets, English muffins and their Signature Bloody Mary with beer chaser. The Omelets were great, the Bloodies were really good (unique salt mix around the rim - highly recommend). Our server was really good as she apologized for our wait and hustled the entire time. My wife and I decided to try this local restaurant once again. The service was good, food was not. Had the Country Fried Steak and Eggs. Opted for the hashbrowns. We asked for a little of the sausage gravy on the hashbrowns. The eggs were acceptable (over medium) but had crispy edges, and the hashbrowns were barely brown and only on the top. The bottom was not brown and some of the potatoes were undercooked and raw/crunchy. The gravy was very watery and thin, seemed to be thinned with water which made the undercooked hashbrowns soggy. It was also very spicy with red pepper. We opted for rye bread. The marble rye toast only had about a teaspoon/1" dab of whipped butter and only on the center of the slice prior to it being cut. Basically unbuttered. The Country Fried steak came on a saucer-size side plate. With the watery gravy, it made the soft steak breading soggy and mushy. All the plates were cold to the touch when served, so the food became cold before it could be eaten. The coffee was warm but not hot and very strong. When we received our bill we discovered we were charged $3 extra each for the tablespoon of thin gravy on our hashbrowns. Our total bill with tax before the tip was $45.56. The cooks were a Hispanic male and a butch-haired female. I think to improve the quality a plate warmer in the kitchen would have helped, The gravy could have been thicker and made with milk not thinned with water. The hashbrowns should have been turned and browned much more on both sides which would have finished cooking them. The toast could have been served with the butter on the side. At least then we could have buttered it to the edges of the toast. Although I imagine there would have been another upcharge for asking for it that way. For a $50+ breakfast for two, it did not seem like a very good value or quality. read more

Amazing food!!! Nick is awesome and so mindful of his diners. He checked in with us a few times. We went during a really busy time and waiting a long time for our food. Our waitress was overwhelmed and he just stepped right up. The food was delicious. Excellent fries-good large portions. Pancakes were my fav. Omelets looked very good as well. My niece had the burger and fries. And the burger was so good. Next time boy we are trying the desserts cuz they looked YUM. Hot tip: after lunch or dinner head over to the ice cream place across the street for a 3 dollar huge cup (or waffle cone) of ice cream! read more

I only visit once a year (to meet up with a relative who drives up to CF from Rochester), but enjoy this place every time. Excellent, friendly services. Tasty breakfast fare, with very generous portions. A really nice atmosphere, with everything so tidy and well-presented. Hungry and driving between Minneapolis and Rochester, we pulled off highway 52 at Cannon Falls after seeing really good reviews for Nick's Diner. This turned out to be a very good choice. It's an old building which has been remodeled in a classic diner fashion. There' loads of parking, plenty of tables and enthusiastic wait staff. First we ordered coffee. A whole pot of freshly ground, tasty hot coffee arrived with a jug of cream...that's cream, not that nasty chemical whitener garbage, but real cream. My wife ordered a tuna melt sandwich; I ordered a loaded vegetable omelette. Both were served with plenty of fresh bread and breakfast potato. The food was sensational and there was plenty of it. So, a wonderful location in a picturesque little town, great food, top class service and all of the above cost a grand total of less than $25. Next time you're trekking along hwy 52, take the time to drive off the main road and come here. It's well worth the visit. read more

This place is Only open for breakfast and lunch. They close at 2pm, we stopped by once at 1pm and at that time we felt like we were not welcome because the server mentioned that they closed in an hour. We decided to leave that time and arrive earlier a couple times since then and the food and service was good. We had many items like the French toast and the eggs benedict which were good. I love the sausage gravy on biscuits from the Army days, they make a giant biscuit and cover it with the sausage gravy. It was good too. They have some cocktails that are breakfast friendly like bloodies and mimosas. Give it a shot. You can find us at Cannon River Winery listening to live music. I got the big mess skillet. Lots of tiny pieces of sausage mixed in with perfectly cooked hash browns. People know how to do an egg OE. The yolk gave it the moisture needed so it didn't need ketchup. Lots of onions, just delicious. They use thick bread for toast. I got a home brewed iced tea. Stacey was my fabulous waitress. Nice bathrooms and there is a narrow patio. A really cool place. I couldn't find a place to park in Rochester for 2 breakfast spots so we got off this exit and Yelp led us here. A menu full of goodies I'd like to check out. read more

Super cool place, with huge portions of home-cooked food for a great price! I arrived around noon on a Sunday, so it was pretty busy, but there was an open table at the front (counter dining was full). I scouted the place out beforehand, and was excited to try it after looking at the menu and seeing the reviews, so anticipated a wait, (which was fine). I ordered a coffee (it's great they serve a quality joe like Trustone!) and was thinking of the breakfast burrito, but the waitress recommended the biscuits and gravy (homemade) with the homefries (also homemade). It probably took about a half hour for the food to arrive, but that's okay as it was a pleasant wait with reading material nearby, along with a full carafe of coffee on the table to sip as the time passed. When the food arrived, I couldn't believe how much there was! Two plates worth (one with the biscuits and gravy, the other with the tators and eggs). The homemade biscuits and gravy were really good, the gravy was spectacular, and the potatoes were perfectly cooked (nice crunch on the outside, perfectly seasoned). An insane value for only around $11! Will definitely be back to try some other items! read more

Was pleasantly surprised with this adorable little spot in the quaint town of Canon Falls. They have a great little patio and the diner itself is clean and cozy. My little loved her sweet, fluffy pancakes and thick cut bacon. They don't serve that crappy over cooked paper thin stuff here. Our BLAT's were delicious too! Again the good bacon, not over cooked, on really nice wheat bread. Get it on wheat, so good! The only thing that could have been better would be fresh hand cut fries. This would really endorse the scratch made menu. Our server Stacey, was super sweet. Next time will have to try the pastries and desserts, they looked amazing. read more

Nick's is a good place in Cannon Falls just across from library. It's an early morning and lunch spot to eat so it's closed at 2pm. I can say they have a good menu from breakfast to burgers and pot roast meal with a real good malt or milkshake with homemade pies. The servers are very nice and easy on the eyes. The do have takeout and the proportions on takeout are just as big as what you would be served if you ate in the restaurant and the prices are right. read more

Down home diner I tried while fueling up @ Casey General Store and gas station along the way Cashier who recommended this place to eat for breakfast. I like that you can order a 1/3 lbs beef patty for breakfast instead of pork sausage links or pork sausage patties. Do also try their chili since it won the best award in their town state fair of Cannon Falls. Very tasty than most Chili I tasted, French toast was delicious and fresh. I had the Chef's special Denver Omelette for $6.99 and that was tasty too. It is a hidden gem in the heartland of Minnesota. My waitress or server, Stacey was helpful and friendly. read more

I think that the folks who frequent this place are perfectly fine with it. The food wasn't horrible. It just wasn't the most flavorful we'd experienced. Admittedly, I call myself the Mayor of Flavortown, so this counts for a lot to me. We may give it another chance we we're back for another visit to Ferndale Farms. read more

Two friends and myself had lunch here after wine tasting down the street at Cannon River Winery. I had a turkey club with bacon with garlic Fries. The garlic Fries were so good like the state fairs. I couldnt eat the whole turkey club so it came home in a Box. My friends son is named Nick and she may get a Nick's Diner t shirt for him. The turkey was chunky turkey not lunchmeat so it was a nice surprise. Will probably be back next time I go to Cannon Falls. read more

Another bite at Canon Falls, this time for Sunday breakfast. Nicks seems to be the place as it is hopping while the rest of downtown yawns, rolls over, and pulls the blankets back up a little farther. Nicks looks like a stylized diner but in a good way. Our server was cheery and the atmosphere was pleasant. I had eggs benedict. It was good. Huge chunk of ham instead of canadian bacon. The eggs were fried though. Prefer the traditional poached. My wife had an egg sandwich with american fries. She gave it a thumbs up. Good service and tasty coffee rounded up our pleasant stay. Flies Flies Flies everywhere! Ordered the biscuit and gravy and nowhere on the menu did it mention that it was hot and spicy. Could not eat it at all. Fortunately we had decent server that was on top of her game and saw we were not going to eat it so she offered to bring some eggs and toast which we happily ate and it was good. I don't think I will return here because those flies really were pesky and I'm not sure why if you have an eating establishment you would not be a little more proactive about pest control. read more

My time spent here was exceptional! The people were really nice and on top of any request we had. It felt like we were welcome here, not like other smaller places where you feel the same five locals are there every morning for their coffee and stare at you when you walk in.
