Few things I had to consider getting a late night burger. The restaurant closes at 10 and I'm there at 850. I work in the industry, so I know what closing time means.. anyways I went in to the drive thru and ordered a fried onion burger. It came with a sundae a burger a soda and fries. My fries were crispy, but I got less than what I normally get from another Dairy Queen (Gresham) my burger while it was tasty, had minimal toppings kind of what you would expect when they don't want to open a new container or restock (I've been there as a high schooler) and my dipped cone was half dipped and the other half on the lid, lol I'm still trying to figure out how that happened. While I could have given this 2 stars, I asked for a pup cup, and they gave me a full size sundae with some peanut butter topping in it for my dog. So pretty young crew, but not terrible. It was pretty windy out and the cashier just wanted to make sure I made my payment got my food and she shut the service window immediately as I got my items. I felt a bit rushed, mind you I barely had time to put my drink down and get my pup cup and my sundae without the cashier looking annoyed at me. So I'm just going to believe she was cold from the wind. Would I go back to this Dairy Queen? Definitely not. The tiny one in Gresham next to winco, the workers are kind and they don't seem to hate their job as much as the Troutdale guys. read more

It's time for dessert. After getting some Thai, why not walk it off and head to the DQ across the parking lot? That way you don't feel to guilty. To tell you the truth, I don't care about calories I want dessert. Of course you can grab a burger and fries, but I want some soft serve. I got the Oreo mint and well it's Oreo mint. Nice big chunk of Oreo and soft serve ice cream at the right temp. Not too hard and it didn't turn into a shake in the end. Overall three stars. Funny but I only go to this Dairy Queen. The staff is always friendly and the food good. It's a lot of high school kids working here, my daughter was one of them over ten years ago lol. But those kids get it done. It must be the ice cream lol. My daughter said she loved working with ice cream when she worked there :) Also the fries are always fresh. Is my number one reason for going here , more than ice cream. They have a platter of fries which I don't think think is actually in the menu. It fills a Dairy Queen box half way up and the fry sauce. 50% of my visits to this DQ are disappointing. I mostly order large blizzards. When I get them, they are at least an inch short of a large blizzard. Tonight we ordered 2 large blizzards and again short at least one inch on both (making them regular size). I asked the girl to please fill them to top. She scoffed at me, took the blizzards, looked like she was doing something and handed them back to me the exact same way. And no thank you. I'm done with this DQ. I'll go elsewhere for my desserts. And here I was trying to keep local businesses in Troutdale. 90% of the time the employees are rude, they stopped flipping my blizzards (which I actually don't care about) but it's DQ's policy and if they can't at least do that much, they need to find employment elsewhere. read more

I never leave reviews but had to say something. We visited this location on the way home around 8pm on Sunday night. The gentleman that helped us was nice, but nice isn't my compliant. He took our order and then continued with cleaning the floors, mats and sweeping. Mind you, using his bare hands. There was zero hand washing, gloves or hygiene. After I observed him rolling up the mats and taking them somewhere, he returns right after to deliver our food to the table. I'm not a germ freak and I usually accept mediocre service, but this was too much... The restaurant had a strange odor, the employees don't follow safe food handling practices and the food is questionable about how safe it is to eat. I hope this review will spike the managers attention and they will take some initiative at training these employees on safe food handling. Drove through on the way back from Prineville and loved the cheese curds, fries and burgers. Mom had fish and chips and really enjoyed it. This is a great place to pop of the highway and enjoy a meal in a woodsy area while not hiking. Great for taking the dog out too and good parking. No complaints! read more

We came in for dinner. Ordered chicken strips with gravy. The gravy was so thick like drywall putty. They knew it was bad but still served it to me and people in drive up. It was inedible. We had to wait 10 min for a new batch as strips got cold. Second batch was super thick as well. I give up! To top it off a demented man went into the bathroom that's flooded. My husband went in after him. Major fall risk and liability for DQ. Imagine if he fell and died or broke a hip! Plus it's super gross. They just put up a wet floor sign and never clean the floor. I have been going to this DQ since moving to this area. Most experiences have been as you would expect, tasty ice cream. Tonight, when handing over an overloaded drink tray with 5 drinks, it collapsed and left me and my car coverd in milk shake. Things do happen, but I found the giggles, whispers and lack of care very rude. As was the manager who after asking me "what's your problem" and I responded I'm covered in milk shake, responded she was wet two from working. I will never go to this DQ again. This Dairy Queen truly stands out. I thought they were all pretty much the same, but when you compare this location to the others around town you'll find there are a few slight differences. Can't say enough good things about THIS Dairy Queen. Good food that is not slapped and slopped together, (yeah McDonalds, I'm talking to you) and if you notice, the food prep area is always clean, (I just feel better eating at a restaurant that does not have food all over the floor). Drive-through is quick, (given they make everything fresh), and dining room is always immaculate, Great location, ample parking and you can even park your RV! Staff always friendly and you don't feel as though you are holding up a fast-paced production line when placing your order or being handed your order at the drive-thru, (sound familiar Ronald McDonald?). I would have understood if they'd have been busy but we were second in the drive through& by the time I got to the window they handed me my almost 30$ worth of food & I can see why it was so fast! Normally, these guys are great and its the one on hwy 26 that is crap. Today, I swear that the same girl I've seen at hwy 26 (that I stopped going there because of) was working at the troutdale one. My first clue was when she took my blizzard and moving really fast flashed it upside down by the drive through window to show it won't fall out (using inertia to keep it in the cup in this case) with a lid on the end of a spoon and a spoon stuck in the ice cream and made sure to hand my card, receipt, and blizzard all back at once and shut the window after I took them. I rarely ever see any dairy queen put a lid on a blizzard. I thought it was odd. Sure as sh*t when I get home about two miles later, I open it up and it is soup city milk shake with cookie dough settling at the bottom. OH, and there was some nice oreos hiding out in my cookie dough only blizzard. I have no idea if the two DQs are owned by the same owners and if this girl happened to be here today (IF that is even the same girl). I don't go back to the hwy 26 gresham DQ because of her and drive the extra few miles to the troudale instead. Iit says a lot IF she is the same person that bad experience follows wherever shes at. I feel that whoever this was at the window knew their ice cream wasn't freezing enough and was going to shortly be liquid and rather then tell me so I could ask for yogurt or choose not to get one at all, she tried every dirty trick she could to get my money and make sure I was probably not going to bother driving back to complain before I discovered it. read more
