CLOSED: This ice cream shop is -- hopefully -- just temporarily closed after a January fire. This place is a family tradition and we loved the flavors. There was a daily special with toppings and flavors of the week, as well. We definitely hope to come back when they are rebuilt, open and ready! read more

Oh my - I drove by this place a few times and actually kind of giggled. Dairy twirl? What kind of hole in the wall joint could that possibly be. Then I stopped and had an ice cream. And it blew my socks off. Absolutely delicious. And super nice people working at the counter. I had two flavors a chocolate moose tracks, and some kind of bourbon something or other. And they were both phenomenally delicious. I can't recommend this place enough! read more

We pulled up to a long line which seemed a good sign. The line moved fairly quickly. The ice cream was the best we tried in the local area. My favorite was the brown butter bourbon truffle. Would go back just for that. read more

I was skeptical at first because from the outside in the winter time it looks kind of sketchy. Boy, was I wrong! I am within walking distance (DANGEROUS). It's unfortunate that Dairy Twirl is only open on the weekends because it's my friends and my favorite local ice cream spot! I really appreciate that they don't only take cash and have so many options to try. I keep on having to go back to try other things, but recently I got cappuccino crunch and oatmeal cookie, both of which were delicious. I also recommend trying their version of a DQ blizzard for which you can choose whatever soft serve and mixins you'd like. read more

How can I be the first to review this? Seriously! Dairy Twirl is a NH tradition. It's in this little rundown building by the laundromat. When I was there it shared space with a used sports good store. The lines go on forever, waiting for delicious dairy twirl treats. You can get soft serve, sundaes, chocolate dipped cones, sprinkles, whatever! It's super cheap; I would raid my change jar for Dairy Twirl money. You wait for DT to open in the summer and keep going until closing day in the fall. I enjoyed the maple ice cream. And the vanilla ice cream. My favorite DT memory is when I got a little dish of vanilla as take out. I had an infection in my finger and started erythromycin. I went home, took my pills, ate my DT, and then spent the next few hours puking. Turns out I can't take erythomycin. The good news is the DT vanilla was cold and tasty on the way up too! BAM! Oh, DT, there is so much I don't miss about living off the green in Lebanon, NH, but I really do miss you. read more

Such an amazing ice cream place! There are so many flavors - hard and soft ice cream. It's pretty inexpensive and the portions are great. They also have a bunch of toppings and dips to customize to your liking. There isn't really a place to sit and eat since it's just a parking lot, but it's nice to stroll with the ice cream and explore the neighborhood. read more

Stars are awarded for food only because you don't come here for the ambience With my daughter recently moved to this side of town, we tried Dairy Twirl for desert. With its extended menu of hand scoops and soft serve, yogurt and sundaes, waffle cones or floats, if you can't find it here it's not made with ice cream! After asking for an explanation of some of the flavors, we were quickly served generous portions of ice cream. If you are trying to limit calories, let them know, they do have sizes smaller than "small." I also liked that various flavors were marked with a star indicating that it was gluten-free. While the ice cream was not made on premises, it was high quality stuff! This little spot reminded me of Rodio Whip in DeLand, FL. Handmade ice cream in a walk up that been in town for years!! "Meh" really describes my experience here. I stopped one evening for ice cream to see what all the rave was about and I was disappointed. My ice cream had no flavor. If someone did a blind taste test with there flavors I would not be able to guess what flavor I was eating. Which is a shame because the consistency was a good one. I love mom and pop joints just like everyone else so it is with a heavy heart that I have to give this place 2 stars. read more

I've been meaning to write an updated review, so here we go. Dairy Twirl is now hands down my favorite local soft serve place. In my opinion, the quality is there when it comes to both their soft serve and chocolate dip. Their soft serve tastes creamier and the chocolate dip also tastes richer. Sometimes you need to ask for a heartier portion of chocolate dip, but staff are friendly and happy to oblige. I'm a huge fan of the strawberry soft-serve, their ice cream sandwiches are a steal at a $1 a pop. Good selection of hard-serve ice cream too. This year, they bought a couple nice picnic tables with umbrellas. I'm happy to be a regular here and look forward to their opening every year. Also, they accept credit cards. read more

Long lines in the summer. This place had very good ice cream. The seating is nice outside but there can be some bugs sometimes because of the ice cream and the rural nature of the place. Pleasant experience and is definately a local favoraite spot. read more

I grew up in Georgia (and I still live here!), but I would visit my Grandparents in NH for many summer breaks. I have been going to Dairy Twirl since the 90s. It's one of those places in my memory that I'll never forget. My Grandparents lived within walking distance and about 2 to 3 times a week we would walk to Dairy Twirl. I always got the black raspberry ice cream with the cherry dip. I used to love going on here. I'm going to have to come back one day as it has been over 15 years since the last time I've been. read more

The Dairy twirl opens every year after mother's day and closes shortly labor day, so there is a small window of time when its blinking sign lights up enticing you to come in and enjoy some cold treats. As far as the ice cream goes I think that Ice Cream Fore U in West Lebanon has a better menu with more variety and flavors, but the Dairy Twirl beats it in terms of ambiance and location. Ice Cream Fore U is located next to the Lebanon Trash Dump so it literally stinks over there while DT is right off the green in cute downtown Lebanon. The central location in downtown makes it convenient for locals to walk to, and I think that convenience is probably its greatest asset. The soft-serve at Dairy Twirl is definitely good, but nothing to write home about. Kinda predictable and plain but not bad by any means.. Also I get a kick out of this being a "Great Nighttime Place" yet closes at 9pm. Wow! Small town late night indeed =) read more

I have been coming to this place FOREVER. My mom worked here in high school the first summer it was open! For me, a vanilla cone with rainbow jimmies from this ice cream stand *IS* summer. I do like the ice cream from Fore-U in West Leb a little bit better, but I can't quit Dairy Twirl just for the nostalgia factor. Definitely great ice cream at reasonable prices. If you don't mind eating it in a parking lot after standing in a lengthy queue, definitely give it a shot! read more

My 400th review! CAN YOU DIG IT?! The Daily Twirl is as good as any to celebrate this epic yelp milestone. Almost every summer around the 4th of July a large group of us would go camping in Lebanon, NH. BEAUTIFUL in the summer time! I LOVE local mom and pop joints like this! No franchised chain here. Lots of ice cream choices served through windows to the parking lot. Portions were large for the money. Perfect place to stop for a break while riding the back roads of New England in the summer. read more

Been going here for years. Best ice cream in Lebanon in my opinion and far better then ForeU. I think that Dairy Twirl's ice cream has much more flavor while still giving a fair amount for the price. Oh how I have always loved Dairy Twirl. My parents used to take my brother and I to this place when we were little. Some of the best soft serve out there. I don't frequent the area as often as I did when I was younger, but once in a while if I'm visiting the relatives up in the Boondocks, I make time to stop by. read more

Second: the variety is massive. Almost any flavor is possible. The quality is lovely, and I only wish I could get unattached to my few favorite ice cream flavors to try the others! Third: they take cash; however, they do accept credit cards, sort of, if you absolutely do not have cash. You need to walk to the driving range down the sidewalk and to the right of the ice cream shop and pay there. Fourth: you can check their daily soft serve and hard serve flavors at foreugolf.com. Fifth: this place does have a playground, picnic tables, mini golf and the driving range. And it's all near a Home Depot. Sixth: they don't offer a full food menu but they do serve a hotdog combo with chips and a soda. It's a great family place!

And this woman had the audacity to say in the most sarcastic and rude tone "well just do what she wants!! Gotta make her happy! Gotta make her happy!" They did end up scooping me a different cup of ice cream and I regret taking it, I should have left the place when the woman started going off. I'd rather drive 15 min to the next ice cream place than ever go back here again.

This place seems to be a great option for birthday cakes and morning pastries, but I would advise getting your sandwiches elsewhere.

My only regret is that I was only able to enjoy a latte twice. I'm already looking forward to going back next time I'm in town.
