And it blew my socks off. Absolutely delicious. And super nice people working at the counter. I had two flavors a chocolate moose tracks, and some kind of bourbon something or other. How can I be the first to review this? Seriously! Dairy Twirl is a NH tradition. It's in this little rundown building by the laundromat. When I was there it shared space with a used sports good store. The lines go on forever, waiting for delicious dairy twirl treats. You can get soft serve, sundaes, chocolate dipped cones, sprinkles, whatever! It's super cheap; I would raid my change jar for Dairy Twirl money. You wait for DT to open in the summer and keep going until closing day in the fall. I enjoyed the maple ice cream. And the vanilla ice cream. My favorite DT memory is when I got a little dish of vanilla as take out. I had an infection in my finger and started erythromycin. I went home, took my pills, ate my DT, and then spent the next few hours puking. Turns out I can't take erythomycin. The good news is the DT vanilla was cold and tasty on the way up too! BAM! Oh, DT, there is so much I don't miss about living off the green in Lebanon, NH, but I really do miss you. read more

Such an amazing ice cream place! There are so many flavors - hard and soft ice cream. It's pretty inexpensive and the portions are great. They also have a bunch of toppings and dips to customize to your liking. After asking for an explanation of some of the flavors, we were quickly served generous portions of ice cream. If you are trying to limit calories, let them know, they do have sizes smaller than "small." I also liked that various flavors were marked with a star indicating that it was gluten-free. While the ice cream was not made on premises, it was high quality stuff! This little spot reminded me of Rodio Whip in DeLand, FL. Handmade ice cream in a walk up that been in town for years!! "Meh" really describes my experience here. I stopped one evening for ice cream to see what all the rave was about and I was disappointed. My ice cream had no flavor. If someone did a blind taste test with there flavors I would not be able to guess what flavor I was eating. Which is a shame because the consistency was a good one. I've been meaning to write an updated review, so here we go. Dairy Twirl is now hands down my favorite local soft serve place. In my opinion, the quality is there when it comes to both their soft serve and chocolate dip. Their soft serve tastes creamier and the chocolate dip also tastes richer. Sometimes you need to ask for a heartier portion of chocolate dip, but staff are friendly and happy to oblige. I'm a huge fan of the strawberry soft-serve, their ice cream sandwiches are a steal at a $1 a pop. Good selection of hard-serve ice cream too. This year, they bought a couple nice picnic tables with umbrellas. I'm happy to be a regular here and look forward to their opening every year. Also, they accept credit cards. read more

I grew up in Georgia (and I still live here!), but I would visit my Grandparents in NH for many summer breaks. I have been going to Dairy Twirl since the 90s. It's one of those places in my memory that I'll never forget. My Grandparents lived within walking distance and about 2 to 3 times a week we would walk to Dairy Twirl. I always got the black raspberry ice cream with the cherry dip. I used to love going on here. The Dairy twirl opens every year after mother's day and closes shortly labor day, so there is a small window of time when its blinking sign lights up enticing you to come in and enjoy some cold treats. As far as the ice cream goes I think that Ice Cream Fore U in West Lebanon has a better menu with more variety and flavors, but the Dairy Twirl beats it in terms of ambiance and location. Ice Cream Fore U is located next to the Lebanon Trash Dump so it literally stinks over there while DT is right off the green in cute downtown Lebanon. The central location in downtown makes it convenient for locals to walk to, and I think that convenience is probably its greatest asset. The soft-serve at Dairy Twirl is definitely good, but nothing to write home about. Kinda predictable and plain but not bad by any means.. Also I get a kick out of this being a "Great Nighttime Place" yet closes at 9pm. Wow! Small town late night indeed =) read more

I have been coming to this place FOREVER. My mom worked here in high school the first summer it was open! For me, a vanilla cone with rainbow jimmies from this ice cream stand *IS* summer. I do like the ice cream from Fore-U in West Leb a little bit better, but I can't quit Dairy Twirl just for the nostalgia factor. Definitely great ice cream at reasonable prices. Been going here for years. Best ice cream in Lebanon in my opinion and far better then ForeU. I think that Dairy Twirl's ice cream has much more flavor while still giving a fair amount for the price.
