Visited the Silloway Maple Sugarhouse as an impromptu stop during my belated birthday weekend, which ended up being a delight. It was off-season, so it was a nice surprise that they were open. Even without seeing the boiling, seeing the production equipment up close was cool. The lady working there took us through the space and talked about how the farm has evolved over the decades. After the chat and what we learned, we had a tasting of the different types of maple syrups, sampling the four Vermont syrup grades along with several infused varieties. The range of maple products--syrup, candy, cream, and more--made it hard to leave empty-handed. We bought the maple creamy ice cream in a pint, maple cream, and a bottle of syrup. The Airbnb yurt we stayed at also had Silloway goodies for us as a gift, so we were very lucky to go home with a great selection. It was a great experience, and I highly recommend it to those in the area or visiting. I would love to go back in the summer! read more

This was an unplanned stop as we wanted one more cremeee before leaving VT. I guess we saved the best for last - the service and the creemee were exceptional. We loved all the toppings available, and the pumpkin spice maple sugar was perfect on my cone. I wanted to try the habanero maple syrup, but didn't know if that would work on a cone. The staff was so friendly and had great personality. The building is beautiful and really interesting. There are large goats and horses to boot! We are so glad we took a chance. read more

Came across Silloway Maple when browsing about things to do in Vermont and let me tell you ... it was the best trip detour I have ever made. My family and I were immediately greeted by all the various employees as we entered. After briefly browsing the store and seeing all of their various products, we were given a personal tour of the entire maple syrup factory process. Our tour guide was very passionate about the various machines and made it a memorable experience. At the culmination of the tour, we tried various types of maple syrup, even some that were infused with other flavors! It's a little bit off the highway, but I would wholeheartedly recommend coming to Silloway Maple. Can't wait to stop by again! read more

We went on a road trip last summer and found Silloway Maple. Ms. Betty was so kind and sweet to us. She shared about the farm's history. When we were there, we had some maple creemees. It was by far the best we'd had. She shared the reason why. Most ice cream places use artificial maple in their creemee. She said that they use natural maple in their ice cream. I also purchased a bottle of their bourbon maple syrup. It is so yummy and delicious. We primarily will use it as a topping over ice cream. My friend in Vermont brought me to Silloway Maple and it was the best soft serve ice cream cone I've had in my life. The ice cream was so good I made a yelp account to make a review. Can't believe I can't find this flavor in NYC! The atmosphere of Silloway Maple is warm, cozy, and majestic. It's a multi-generational family farm with, I believe, over 27,000 trees. One of the owners gave us a tour, and gave us samples of some of her different maple treats. We tried a maple creamee somewhere else, it was not nearly as good. read more

What a delightful place to visit and buy maple syrup. I was visiting from out of state, and daughter and I were looking for something to do and found this farm on one of our Vermont brochures. We drove through scenic country roads to get there. This is a working family farm with a small store that sells maple syrup products. Christina gave us a tour of the equipment, explained the process of creating the syrup and let us taste the four grades of syrup and other infused syrups they produce. Turns out we liked the Golden Delicate so we bought a few bottles. We also met the daughter of the farm founder. They were both friendly, welcoming, and so accommodating in all our questions. My daughter bought a maple creamee ice cream, and I took a taste of it. My first experience with a creamee. Wow, it was truly CREAMY!! Fantastic, now I understand why people rave over creamies. It was fabulous! - thick, sweet, delicious. Anyway, we were glad to be able to visit a farm where the products are made and support a family business. Silloway Maple is a friendly family operated sugar house. The owner greeted us and offered a tour. We enjoyed our experience getting to know how the syrup is being made. A lot of work needs to be done to receive a simple bottle of syrup we all are so used to see at our breakfast table. Our tour of the Silloway Maple groves was fantastic! We were visiting from Denver, and had no idea what to expect from the tour, but we were very pleasantly surprised! The family is incredibly welcoming, knowledgeable, and warm. They are very passionate about their work, and are eager to show you around and teach you the ways they collect and purify the Maple sap! We had the most delicious homemade Maple Creemees here - rich, thick, and creamy - with the option of half maple, half chocolate (my favorite) and optional toppings (such as crushed maple sugar candy, his favorite). Their shop is filled with all shapes and sizes of containers of their fresh maple syrup - great for everyday use and for gifts. But don't leave without getting a creemee. I stopped by Silloway Maple on my way up from Boston to Burlington just hoping to stock up on maple syrup for the next few months, but instead I got a full tour of the farm and sugarhouse and got to learn all about the process. I was even lucky enough to show up on one of the few boiling days each year, so I got to see everything happen firsthand and taste the syrup straight off of the evaporator. I had to hit the road, but if I had stayed they also offered to lend me some snowshoes so I could go for a walk around the farm and check out the maples. The farm store had a great selection of syrup in different sizes and grades as well as maple candies, flavored syrups, etc, all at prices much better than you would find in a store. I walked away with a half gallon and I'm sure I'll use it up fast enough to find myself on a trip back soon! read more
