I highly recommend Dakota Commercial. Their staff is extremely professional and friendly. I needed to find a place, short notice, in the middle of winter after choosing to leave a badly managed apartment (different company). Matt and Nikki were extremely helpful in finding my new apartment. They communicated with me while my paperwork was processing, and kept me informed and re-assured. I was always greeted with a friendly smile when I visited the office and always encouraged to call or email with questions. Dakota Commercial is great at communicating. They send out emails to inform you what is going on with snow removal and other situations in the building. A recent email invited me to "Donut Monday" in the community room. They appreciate their residents! I live in University Flats and I am extremely happy so far. I live in a one bedroom on the 2nd floor. The apartment is modern and very nice and so far the neighbors have been great/quiet! I haven't had any problems with drafts (as mentioned in another review) and the temperatures have been -20 to -30 with wind chills this winter. So far so good! The property managers are awesome and easy to deal with. They also hold events for residents on occasion. There is a free gym (which I haven't used) but good for anyone just wanting to get in shape who might not want a serious gym membership. Additionally, they constantly run specials and even if there isn't a current special they are usually willing to work with you. When we signed on we got our apartment for significantly less than many others of similar size, and when we renewed they worked with us to keep our rate close to the same AND threw in a few added perks, which was really nice! The only downside is that some of the neighbors are not the best (one hit my truck in the parking lot and never said anything, some are pretty loud too). The neighboring apartments also have had children that have on occasion vandalized property, which is really not Dakota Commercial's fault, but it is concerning obviously. As a company though, they do a great job to try and keep you happy! read more

The staff (administrative, maintenance) are prompt and professional. The maintenance order process is my favorite--so easy to submit, and the orders are resolved super quickly. Paying for rent is pretty seamless--the online system works great. The only thing I'd say I was disappointed in is the utlities. During the showing, I was told to expect about 60$ for utilities, but that was just one part--you pay utilities to one party (Yes Management) and another (EGF Water and Light). So with utilities, you can expect to add on at least $100 to the rent. It's also a bummer that for water usage, instead of paying what you use in your unit, you pay the total amount used in the building divided by the number of occupants. So it really depends on how much everybody is using, not just you. But considering the excellent management of the property, the location, and the price for what you get in terms of space and amenities, I'd highly recommend Dakota Commercial!!! read more

By far the worst company that I've rented from. Highly don't recommend them to anyone who doesn't want to get cheated out of their money. Worst customer service. I've rented from them more than once and each time was a disaster so I went out of my way to never rent from them again. They're a money hungry company. At one point all of the coin operated machines were not working in the whole building because they were full of quarters and no longer accepting quarters for washing. It took them over two weeks to resolve this issue. This is just one of the many issues I've encountered with them. Again, I highly do not recommend. I had to clean out the apartment myself when I moved in, and they're supposed to do the cleaning prior to moving in. I recommend looking at other renting companies like Oxford and Metro Plains. I've never written a bad review and I felt compelled to with this company. read more

I've lived in these apartments for approximately 8 months and I couldn't be happier. The location is great for those going to UND and you get a nicer apartment for less than you would for other apartments near campus. Tammy is really nice and makes sure that all your requests are filled. Whenever maintenance is needed to be done, they get it done within a couple of days of submitting the form. These apartments are great for college students who aren't looking to host parties. The buildings themselves are really quiet and you don't really hear any neighbors, which is really great for studying. The underground parking garage is really nice in the winter and I've never had any problems with getting in and out. I'm glad I chose these apartments because they are very efficient and reasonably priced for a college student. read more

I live in Campus place III currently, and it is a solid apartment for a college student. When I moved in, it was very clean and everything was in working order. Dakota Commercial had competitive pricing on their units and as most units are close to the UND campus, these apartments are well-suited for students. Campus Place apartments are close to a gas station as well, so for any quick late night runs to grab a snack, these apartments can't be beat. Last, the staff is very helpful and kind. I have run across a few problems during my time here, and the staff in the office building have been so helpful. They usually offer residents free food from time to time as well! As a student, living at Campus Place III was a great choice. read more

I live at the Lumber Exchange and I love it!! The building is brand new, clean, and has incredible amenities. I love that I can just go downstairs to the gym instead of driving somewhere to work out. They have a spin room, a ping pong room, and a rooftop patio that shows off stunning sunsets! Summer Saturdays lounging on the rooftop are the perfect way to unwind! The Lumber Exchange is also right across from the Greenway so it's perfect if I want to go on a run or an evening stroll. Whenever I've had an issue- it's been answered in less than 24 hours. Not to mention- having underground parking during this crazy winter has been the hugest blessing. Moving into the Lumber Exchange was the best decision I ever made! read more

I live in the opera house lofts and absolutely love it! The apartment is downtown Grand Forks and the apartment itself has a very large kitchen and living area. The architecture inside the apartment is amazing with old exposed steel frames and an air duct. One downside is the price of heating in the winter because the ceilings in the apartment are very tall. Another would be walls from other apartments are connected to walls in my apartment and it is easy to hear others in adjacent apartments! The staff at Dakota commercial is very friendly and willing to help and answer questions Overall, I would highly recommend the apartments at the opera house lofts. read more

I recommend Dakota commercial because the staff is always very helpful whenever I have had a problem regardless of what it is. I have had problems with bathrooms, Garages, sinks, microwaves, and the staff at Dakota commercial have always been helpful in getting everything fixed. The rent is always affordable and within my budget, plus they always have deals going on so just keep an eye out for those. They have been more than accommodating even when we pushed back our move in date. They are always helpful in answering my questions. Only con would be the electric bill in the winter but since I don't want to freeze to death, that's on me. read more

Dakota Commercial is a great company to rent from in the Grand Forks area. Although I have only dealt with two separate rental companies, Dakota Commercial by far outweighs River Towne Properties LLC. in terms of respect for their tenants. Matt at Dakota Commercial was super helpful and stayed after hours to make sure we had our keys on our move in date. Maintenance was needed to unclog our drain in the bathroom and a couple other small problems, the maintenance man was at my door the next day and fixed every complaint I had. Best renting experience I've ever had! And I've been renting properties for over 20yrs. Heather showed me an amazing apartment. I instantly felt welcomed with her. She was so nice, helpful, and very sweet! Once I told her I would take it, Kris the property manager took over. He helped me with the application process in a very timely and helpful manner. I have lived in Dakota Commercial's Campus Place Complex for three years now and have loved it. The apartment is at a very competitive price for the quality of the unit. Maintenance is very quick to respond (emergency, within the hour and non-emergency, within 24 hours), do quality work, and always checked in with me later to make sure the problem was solved. I have worked with several different office attendees and everyone of them has been welcoming, understanding, and helpful. The apartment building is nice and so are the people at Dakota Commercial. The move-in was painless, especially with the help of Matt. I am leaving this apartment with 4 stars due to the following: There is only one parking spot provided and if you need another one you are left to find a spot on the street, which is sometimes completely filled up. Another issue we encountered was the smell. Our apartment reeks of strong curry and regardless of tactics used, will not go away. Dakota Commercial has been a great apartment leasing service for me. I signed my lease last spring during one of their promotions which cut the price of rent by a third. It has been a great place to live with great neighbors, good package delivery, amazing services, and a nice fitness area close to my apartment. The location of Campus Place is terrific with a short walk to Loaf and Jug and an easy walk to campus during the "warmer" months. I think my apartment and building is great. The building is kept clean. Any maintenance issues are handled promptly. The office staff is very personable and polite. I have been a tenant for 6 months. It's a very family friendly building. The only downfall of my building and the reason I gave 4 stars is because there is no recycling dumpster. So I have to haul it in order to recycle. There is always a ton of stuff in the dumpster that could be recycled. I called about it months ago and was told they are working on it. read more

We moved into The Pines almost 2 weeks ago. The pictures are very accurate. The place doesn't have any weird smells. The office staff is unbelievably friendly and they love when you bring your pets in for a visit! The gym is quite nice. The walls of the apartments are a great sound barrier, so there isn't a lot of noise. The neighbors we have met are very friendly. The ceilings do transfer noise though. We hear our upstairs neighbor stomping around their apartment at all hours of the day and night. We love our new apartment. read more

I have lived in the Campus Place apartments now for 3 years and I am very happy with my decision - the staff is friendly, and always respond quickly to any issue. Dakota commercial as a whole is doing a lot for their residents - with recently adding a nearby office so we can better reach their staff, as well as adding a gym and asking how it can be improved. Dakota Commercial has been a fantastic with any help my roommates or myself need. On maintenance calls, Dakota Commercial informs them right away, someone come into the apartment building to clean the hallways once a week, parking areas are always plowed right away when snow falls, and they are always checking in to insure everything is going well.
