We were in Garden Grove for an appointment and decided to find a different grocery store to get supplies (instead of our usual haunts). So I searched for 'Korean Grocery' and Dalat came up. In reality, it's a supermarket specializing in Vietnamese groceries. But it does have quite a bit of Thai and Filipino groceries...not so much Korean (except for non-perishables like ramen). Their selection of vegetables common across the cuisines were great, and at really great prices. But things specific to a non-Vietnamese cuisine, they did not have (things like kimchi and soybean sprouts that I needed). But if you want to gather supplies for Pho, this is the place. And they had the largest selection of coconut milk, juice, and cream at prices 75% cheaper than found at an American grocery. They even had things I have not seen in other places (like baby squid frozen tentacles...these are my favorite part of a squid and to get them separated and frozen is a great convenience). They also had frozen mussels in large bags for really low prices (but just reminded me of the time long time ago when I bought and cooked bargain mussels bought from a local Vienamese grocers and got the worst case of food poisoning I could remember...just to save a few bucks...just a stupid thing to do). Actually one of the more decent supermarkets. The place is relatively clean and they have pretty good produce. They have a lot of the regular items that we needed and are quite stocked. We didn't interact with many employees, but the ones we did interact with were nice. The parking lot is fairly small, however. There are a good amount of spots, but it's quite packed together. International markets are always fascinating to explore as each store have unexpected and interesting products. This supermarket not only has products from Vietnam but also from different Asia countries such as Thailand, China, Korea, Philippines, etc. so you can shop many things. This place is huge with vegetable/fruit sections, fish sections, meat sections, pottery sections, etc. so I recommend you stop by every one of them to have the true experience. The store is not that fancy and it smells a little bit but it is worth to visit. I haven't had a chance to see or interact with the employees except the cashier but she was very bright and had a great customer service. Whenever visiting SoCal, I sometimes drop by here just to check things out for a change in environment from my NorCal Asian markets since we don't have Dalat Supermarket up north. Bought a few little items here/there during all my visits thru the years! The place is kind of nice, cozy, and well-organized. Other than that, don't recall seeing many shoppers or many workers here as I never see the place ever crowded. Felt like a ghost-town instead. There's so many viet markets in OC, & they all seem very similar. So I get it ! They all have the same musty smell, fluorescent lighting, outdated interior & grungy exterior. When driving by Dalat, this ticks all the boxes. Why do I like this store ? Very random but I happened to pick up some baby rice milk bath soap that I couldn't find anywhere else. It's an Australian brand I haven't seen anywhere & the bath soap is so awesome my hubby & I even use it on ourselves ! Besides the soap I also like the array of glass containers they have for sale - at a great price ! I am a glass tupperware queen, (we don't do nasty plastic !!!!) & if you're aware, glass tupperware is very expensive ! They have glasslock which is the snap lids that are awesome ! So if you're looking for tupperware, this is a good spot to get it. I also really like the metal cooking bowls & plates which are so handy in prepping ingredients. Don't spend $5 on a small dish at Sur La Table, Dalat has the same thing for a fraction of the price. We also get our 50 lb bag of jasmine rice here too which runs around $45. This isn't an every week store for us, but we stop here from time to time. read more

This supermarket is always a hit or miss for me. My mom however, she enjoys coming into this supermarket for things like vegetables, fish, and fruits. I love the store for always having Golden Sweet Corn chips. You can't beat the price of $1 for a bag of Golden Sweet Corn chips. However, I also love this store for always having ice cream flavors I would never been able to find at home like Thai Tea, Matcha, Lychee, and Queso Queso. I found out from my boyfriend that this is a Filipino brand so maybe I've just never found these near home because I don't go to Filipino Supermarkets. I did find out recently that they do make desserts, and they sell them in the fridge aisle (in case anyone is interested). I personally did not get them. I like going to Dalat supermarket for their wide vegetable selection and decent prices. But I waited more than 30 minutes today to get 1 little fish cleaned. I can clean my own fish but SoCal has spoiled me. However: It's a Saturday afternoon around lunchtime. They only had 1 guy behind the counter cleaning fish and sometimes 2 guys. They must be short handed or cutting back payroll but business will suffer if they don't do something about it. Some people left with their fish on the counter bc it was such an unreasonable amount of time to wait. One lady cut the line bc she thinks it's ok just bc she only needed to get her fish weighed and not cleaned, while a hurdle of people are waiting their turn. She should've been happy that the other guy weighed her fish for her. Instead, she started an argument with the guy that wouldn't let her cut the line earlier. BAD idea! He gave her a piece of his mind across the counter and we all jumped in to defend him. read more

Thai store is the worst Asian supermarket ever especially the security old man was in the front on Sunday night I went there 5 minutes before close he literally point the finger on my and said go and spoke his language which it I don't understand. I've driven by the place for years but next stopped in to explore, until now. The most important thing to know is this isn't Von's. It's an Asian supermarket with a very cluttered feel and a bit of a randomization atmosphere. It's also not very modern and probably hasn't been remodeled this century. Understanding that, I found it a fun place to shop. Unique foods and home items you won't find at Stater Bros or Trader Joe's. Be careful of the fruits and vegetables as they are imports and with the supply chain delay, you really don't know how old they are or what chemicals they've been treated with to keep the "fresh". Meats are a little safer as long as you keep them frozen and cook them properly but again, they may have been frozen for a while. Fish is usually a pretty good catch (ha!) as some of them might still be alive when you make a selection. Some great candy and spices along with various types of noodles are abundant. Service is "eh", but I found the cashier to be friendly enough. read more

We bought a sack of mangosteen that I weighted at the store scale as 3 bls. at $7.99/lbs. The cashier charged 3.21 lbs although the sack also labeled as 3 lbs/1.3 kg originally from the grower. The good: This is a Vietnamese/Chinese grocery store that sells lots of imported goods like tropical fruits, teas, and spices. They sold lots of plants and flowers (like orchids) in the front. They have a security guard in the front by the flowers. It is a pretty large grocery store. The bad: It isn't the cleanest of markets but it is pretty standard for a Vietnamese grocery store. The interesting: My parents are from Da Lat, Vietnam so I was particularly interested in visiting this supermarket. Me and my mom went to this store to buy fish and shrimp for our dinner later, but when my mom went to put in her EBT card the cashier told her" she had done it wrong " and " fixed " it for her (that was December 27/2024) and on the 29th of December we went shopping to a different store and attempted to pay with our EBT card, but it wouldn't accept our card due to there being no balance in any of the options. there is also another review that went through a similar situation on google. I've been going to this supermarket for years and it's alright. Prices are decent, but its brother store, Green Farm Market, still has it beat in prices and cleanliness. It's what you expect of a Vietnamese grocery store. Prices are cheap but you gotta dig for the good produce that isn't bruised and rotting. They fry your fish here though, so that's exciting. Their snack aisles aren't as good as Green Farm's though. Parking can be terrible on weekends. Like Black Friday and honking crazy. But it's alright on the weekdays. Customer service is okay. They accept all credit cards even AMEX. And they sell orchids inside the store too. But don't bring a nice car here because shopping carts and people are everywhere.
