I hired STL Windows and Doors to replace 28 storm windows on my home because they were highly…read morerated. I was told that the windows would be fully custom to fit my existing custom interior windows, however, the storm windows I received are not custom and do not line up with my existing interior windows (see photos below). Honestly, I just wanted this fixed as it degrades the look of our home and is not what I ordered. What the company will tell you: 1. They tried to remedy the situation, but the company they use is no longer making storm windows so there is nothing they can do. 2. They apologize if the windows are not aesthetically pleasing or do not meet my expectations (disregarding the fact that they are not what I ordered). 3. They pride themselves on customer service, their reputation, and their customer's satisfaction. What I will tell you: 1. When I alerted them to the issue, they said, "It is what it is." They also told me that the storm windows only came in a 50/50 split (and not custom). I contacted the supplier myself and confirmed that the windows are available to order in custom sizes. When I told the company this, they said that they had reached out to the supplier and since they were no longer making storm windows, there was nothing they could do. I asked if there were other solutions, such as contacting another supplier, but I never received an answer to that. They also claim that I didn't tell them of the issue until the job was complete, but I told the installer (who happens to be the owner's sister) at the beginning of day two and her fiancé (the salesman) came out at the beginning of day three to see what the issue was. The job was not completed until the end of day three. I did not correspond with the owner until I filed complaints and contacted a lawyer. 2. "Apologies" aside, I must now pay another company considerably more money to fix the issue caused by STL Windows and Doors. 3. Their actions do not align with priding themselves on customer service. To outline a few of the particulars (without going into too much detail): they've blamed the original salesperson who no longer works for the company, they lied about the windows not being available in custom sizes, they then blamed me after I found out that they are available in custom sizes, a window was installed broken and has not been fixed. Please SHARE this with family and friends to help them avoid losing money to false promises. Thank you!

However, the process of obtaining a quote was indeed as easy as Zen Windows website makes it out to be; check out their website and watch the videos. I completed their form with the number of windows, approximate size and the requirement that the windows must meet a minimum efficiency. A reply was quick and thorough and above all easily understood and answers to questions were immediate. Dennis provided all the information needed should a permit have been required. Once accepted, Kevin came out within a few days to take specific measurements needed for ordering the windows. Within just over a month, we received a call asking if the installation could take place within 48 hours as they had an opening. Ed, Jimmy and Daryl were the installation crew who arrived promptly and you could not ask for a more conscientious and professional team. They seemed to get along and worked well with each other. Care was taken to protect floors and carpet, the installation and operation of the windows was explained, and clean up was meticulous. I had planned to shampoo my carpets after they were finished and Daryl did such a good job of cleaning up the floors I did not have to vacuum first! We had 6 windows replaced and opted for the Endure EN600 series double hung, Energy Star Certified windows. These windows were installed on a warm day in rooms that get the afternoon sun and it was immediately apparent that the sun gain was much lower than the previous windows. The wind is gusting today and there are no drafts! The total cost was a bit above some of the other estimates but after our previous experiences as well as the ease of the ordering process, the personable and professional installers- much less the quality of the windows- it has been well worth it.

We had several quotes (few in the 6 digits). My husband and I just couldn't agree on which one to choose from. The quotes were either too high or did not on design, and sometimes both. I called STL Design and Build Design, setup an appointment as my last resort. STL Design sent Tom Levinson. Mr. Levinson arrived earlier than time with his assistant. This is definitely a rare. We went through the areas for remodeling. Tom sat me down and listen to all I wanted to do. Then it came down to the details and pricing. The wants an can't live without. We finished with an estimated quote that we were very happy with. Tom was wonderful. He gave me sound advice on my selections for the kitchen remodel. He went through the cost, time-line, and process. Tom went to warehouses with me for selections on the items. Matthew Pevehouse, thank goodness for him. I had a family emergency out-of-state. Matt took care of everything for us. The whole crew were wonderful. Matt took pictures and kept me up to date. If there was an issue it was quickly resolved. We never see the same techs returning. And we've had issues every single year. It's like they hire new guys each summer and they're clueless. Last year I was told by a tech, he "didn't know the system." This year the pressure valve on the filter was left open, I had a pressure code on my heater (so it was not functional) because I had no pressure to the system with the valve open! I found one of my jet covers in 2 pieces in the middle of the pool. A plug was left on the ground by the system. My pool entry handle is so loose, I've got to tighten it. The system was not primed properly, done with such little water the box was smoking hot when we opened it. I'm thankful I didn't loose a motor. I've called with a couple of questions trying to troubleshoot these issue but was given some bad information. He gave me an electrician's number for the heaters PS code?? I'm sorry they can be the nicest people but this is their profession, not mine. I shouldn't have to go behind them to fix things that are wrong and effecting pool operations or done with little to no care of correct outcomes. Especially for what is charged. I would think a pool opening includes ensuring the system is functioning correctly and if something is not, then notify the owner before driving away. Which they never do check out and let us know how it went or any issues that need addressing. The process is piss poor to say the least.

We have been using Dalco since Spring 2011. Every year we get a few windows done, and also have gotten two steel doors, a storm door and some siding done too. Each time we were very pleased with their cleanliness, and quality of their work. The salesman, John, is not pushy at all. He takes the time to explain things and is also friendly. The installers do a good job and clean up well after the job is done. We feel confident every time we have Dalco here because we know the job will be done right.....the first time. Dalco's first job with us was our kitchen. We took quite a while to make up our minds on exactly what we wanted and they worked with us throughout the process and the final look is just great. Our second project was our roof. We had a bad leak and Dalco did a temp repair until they could replace the roof. We felt completely comfortable with the crew through the project and we are happy to say, no more leak. read more

The website and rep claim their office is in Fenton but the business addresses registered with the Secretary of State are as follows: James & Kimberly Mills who filed articles of organization in 2015 (not 20 years ago as I was told by the rep) is at 438 E Clinton Place in Kirkwood. Another "Mills Window and Siding" company is registered with a fictious name located at 5355 Hagemann Crossing, Sunset Hills, MO 63128. I recently met with a rep from Mills Window and Door after getting a coupon in the mail. I was told the 40% coupon for siding would be from the "suggested manufacture price" and ultimately the bid would be competitive - so the coupon is merely a "bait and switch". I was told I would be paying 3% more if I used their "interest free financing" or a credit card. Mills Window and Door policy is to get 50% down but the work won't start for 2 months and they control the scheduling. When I questioned my concerns about paying 50% up front then having to be held hostage for at least 2 months to get the work done is not a benefit to me as a customer. One would hope a siding company would stock standard white siding. I was told they have been around for 20 years and have tons of great reviews. The original company was registered with Missouri Secretary of State in 2015. The "fictious company" was registered in 2022. Reviews can be manipulated as we all know and I would recommend homeowners get names and phone numbers from actual customers they have done work for in the past 3 months or don't use them. I informed the rep I would do my research to ensure I am dealing with the original company that has been around that long and he quickly skedaddled stating we were not a good fit. I agree.... I don't like working with companies who are not transparent and want to charge up front then not deliver the service for 2 months. I found the lack of transparency, multiple addresses and business practices unacceptable and felt it important to warn other homeowners to do your research and get actual recent referrals and bids from other companies.
