Because most times it is a Viviano helping you in the store or installing the products at your home. They have installed doors and windows at my house and most likely will be doing an awning or two later this summer. I have shopped around and their prices are very competitive. Proving the "big box" is not always the best deal. The customer service is personable and they are based in my hood. When I need doors, windows or awnings, it is Viviano's for me. Yeah, so, not a good experience. Contracted with this company to replace 5 windows and 3 weeks later they had not even come out to measure, much less order or install, the windows. Calls to owner to check status of job and two missed measuring appts. lead to me asking for better communication and an updated schedule. Owner informed me that he "doesn't do business on an adversarial basis." I don't think it's adversarial to expect a company to be honest about its delivery dates, communicate when it needs to reschedule an appointment, or treat customer concerns professionally and politely. Nor is bringing problems with these to the owner's attention being "adversarial." I was owed an apology, not an angry and indignant owner. Had I been treated differently, this company might have been doing windows for our entire house. Glad I started out with only a small job. Friends of ours having work done by this company are experiencing similar problems with lack of communication and missed appointments. Am now mystified as to how they're paying the bills and have stayed in business for so long. I suppose I should have been alerted by the owner's response to another negative review on Yelp, which didn't exactly exemplify Customer Service. Next time: caveat emptor! ******************************* Am extending review above to respond to owner's reply. We signed a contract on 2/19/15 (according to the copy in my possession) and I hand delivered it (with a deposit check) on 2/23/15. No appointment for 3/13 was ever made. Was generally understood company would be out to measure windows when weather was a bit warmer--totally understandable! It was still very cold that week but warmed up considerably at start of March. One call at end of week of 3/1/15 to see when measuring would take place yielded a promise they would be out Weds. (3/11) or Thurs. (3/12). 4 days (M/T/W/Th) that week weather was sunny and beautiful. No-show and no-call (again!) lead to situation described in initial review of company; statement about "adversarial basis" occurred during phone call on 3/16/15. All dates are documented via cell phone call register; I stand by my review. Much of the communication the owner claims occurred, simply did not. Period. Company does not follow through on service promises and does not communicate when they need to miss an appt. 3 full weeks elapsed after submitting contract/deposit check and company had STILL not come to measure windows--despite warm weather, 2 missed appts., and 2 follow-up calls by us. No, I did not expect windows in 3 weeks; I DID expect they would be measured and ordered on one of the two dates I was promised that would happen. Recommend time spent on (admittedly adorable) office puppy be re-directed toward calling customers and keeping an appointment calendar! read more

Instead of giving us an estimate for windows they explained how they could fix the windows and showed us how to repair one of our doors instead of replacing.....and they repaired the window for much less than their original quote! During installation, we had an issue with window trim color, and Robert and his wife remedied the issue in a professional manner. On site, their crew was very friendly, efficient and clean. Told me they could go above and beyond my window preservations/replacements. After a month of waiting for a bid, I called and they had to track down my rep (the owner) for pricing. He had to come back out to look at the job, which they were courteous about. After another month of waiting for a bid (in the meantime getting verbal quotes between $800-$1800), went into the store, spoke to him in person to make sure we were on the same page and asked for a quote in the next couple days. Received nothing, called in and an employee looked in my file and said there was a note that said something along the lines of No Longer Doing Business along with several notes of returned emails, one from the recipient even writing back to say they had the wrong person. Never called me or anything asking for my correct email address. I gave the employee my correct email address to give the owner, and then I replied to a previous email he had sent me months before asking him to reply to this one in hopes it would come through. Instead he wrote back that he sent me a bid numerous times and no longer wanted to do business with me. After 3 months of him leading me on , was back to square one! In regard to the situation he told a neighbor of mine, "sometimes your business chooses you, and sometimes you get to choose your business" Was excited to support a neighborhood business, but was very disappointed by the lack of customer service, putting the blame on the customer and response times. read more

I have used Viviano Windows and Doors for all of my windows and Doors in my house. I recommend them to all of my friends and acquaintances. I have seen their attention to detail and commitment to service. We had old, unattractive windows. We now have new, beautiful, functional, energy-efficient windows that have held up well over time and they keep outside noise out. We have a beautiful decorative front door installed by Viviano's that we love. And Viviano's also installed a gorgeous picture window that has transformed our living room, and they installed a sliding glass porch doorway system that has transformed our kitchen. We also have a new door to our garage that has a neat feature of having adjustable blinds inside the window (I had never seen that before). Our house has dramatically improved its appearance and we have Viviano's to thank for that. Robert Viviano is one of those rare people that love's what he does. He likes to plan and come up with creative solutions to difficult problems. I also know that he stands by his work, and has been known to stop by and make minor repairs on windows or doors he installed over a decade ago. If you can find a guy that is more conscientious, I would love to meet them. All of their materials have held up great over time, and on the rare occasion where we had an issue, Robert's team was on it right away and made any adjustments. And they were very kind when they tactfully pointed out that there wasn't an issue with one of the windows, I just did not know how to use it properly. From the initial visit to take measurements and give a quote, to the installation, turn around time, and pricing, Vivianos was simply awesome. The owner, Robert and his son, Joe are extremely professional when doing in home visits, as well as very knowledgable of their product and industry. The installation team worked through freezing temperatures to finish my install, and very good at what they do. Vivianos has a quality product that will beat out most competitor pricing. Viviano Windows and Doors is quite possibly the most unprofessional company I have ever had the displeasure to work with. I should have known from the moment Robert entered my home when he rudely asked me to put my dog away in my own home when I was holding her in my arms, and she had no opportunity to get close to him. He seemed to be someone who took his work seriously and who valued a good job. I was so, so wrong. I needed someone to fix my front door that did not seal properly without the whole thing being replaced. Viviano's was the only place that seemed to have the knowledge of how to make that happen, so I decided to hire them for the job. When I called him to tell him I was interested in setting up a time for the job, there was no record of them coming to my house in the first place. So, they had to come out a second time. I was very understanding, as I was told numerous times that Robert was on medications that made him forget things. The second time that he came out to take measurements I was told that I would receive a contract in the mail shortly. Weeks went by with nothing in the mail. I contacted Robert about it and was told that he would give me a call when he got back into the office. Almost a week passed with no call, so I called him. Again, he didn't have his scheduling book with him. I was given a long explanation about how Robert was having health problems. Guess what, that's not my problem. If you own a business you communicate with your customers or you have someone else do it. Anyway, I was AGAIN told to wait another day to be contacted and that if he forgot to call me before noon that I would receive a gift card. Of course, no call, no gift card and no apology. I was later contacted by Robert and told that the job would be done on one of two days that they had available. The day that I chose came and the worker was not Robert, even though he told me he would be the one doing the work. This job was supposed to include a replacement of the astragal of my french door, as well as a replacement of the threshold and the weather stripping, which was supposedly "special ordered". This weather stripping was the sticky stuff that cost $10 at Home Depot. But I had to wait over a month for their "materials to come in". The worker said all that was written down for him to do was replace the weather stripping and put on a new sweep. No one wants to have a door sweep if they can have a proper threshold and sealing system on their door. But they wanted to charge me $500-$600 for the job. Before the guy even started I told him this was not what Robert communicated with me. I called Robert and he said they would stop the job and that he would come out in person and speak about it again to clarify what needed to be done. At this point I was already done with Viviano's. BUT, after Robert told his worker to stop the job, the worker put everything away and did not even say bye or anything to me! He got in his truck and drove away without saying anything. As soon as the worker left, Virginia gave me a call and told me that they are not interested in doing business with me anymore. Yes, THEY told ME they didn't want to do business with me. After everything that they had done and all the chances I gave them. Not once did I get an apology for the atrocious communication and total lack of interest in doing this job. I can only boil it down to either they think my husband and I are young idiots who they could take advantage of, or that it was not worth it to them to give effort into a small job when they can get better business elsewhere. They may have been doing business for a long time, but I happen to own my own small business, as well and I know that even small jobs should be treated as a big deal because those are what keep customers coming back. I feel for the people who have given thousands of dollars to this business and been treated the same as I have. I see that they respond to these reviews and accuse people of lying and what not; I can assure you that everything I have said is truthful. Don't hire Viviano's! read more

I ordered an $1800 arched topped steel storm door in October. It was finally delivered January 12th. After the installer had the door up I stepped outside to look at it. It was horrible. The door was not made as ordered and the window framing was crooked. I asked if he thought it looked bad and he agreed. He went to the truck to call the owner and when he returned he said he would remove the door and take it back to their shop. They had my old storm door for a template. I asked it be returned so I would have something to protect my front door since i had just spent a considerable amount of time restoring it. I never heard a word from the company. They returned my deposit in the mail without a phone call or a note. They have never returned my storm door. I would NEVER recommend using this company!!! read more

Approximately 15 years ago , we replaced nearly all of the windows in our then 64 year old home. We found the best prices and best selection of windows at Viviano's, and chose them to do the job. The windows turned out beautiful, and we couldn't have asked for better service. The windows have functioned beautifully and we have no complaints with them. This past year though , one of them developed a large crack on the inside pane of glass, no idea how it was caused. The windows are way out of warranty , but I contacted Mr. Viviano to find out if they did repairs on these double pane windows, and if not , perhaps he could refer me. Turns out the window company , TRACO, went out of business a few years ago so it was not a simple fix. Mr. Viviano went out of he way for us to fix this window, he special ordered glass to fit it, removed the broken pane , which was not an easy job on this type window, and installed the new glass , only charging us for the what it cost him for the glass. No charge for the installation, and the considerable amount of time it took to remove the damaged glass. He saved us from having to purchase an entire new window. I have nothing but good things to say about Viviano's, they went out of their way to provide the best customer service. read more
