We were told by the bar staff to give them a moment to seat us, so we waited outside on the front porch. This liminal space of time provided us the opportunity to observe the evening hour turn to dusk, and notice light changing into shadow across the Sangre de Cristo mountains. Eventually, we were told a table by the window opened up -- which was most serendipitous for us. Despite what seemed to be a staffing issue, the bartender graciously saved the day with his genuine hospitality/attention, and even brought our drinks to the table. The only true down-point for me was the lighting inside, as it was far too bright for my liking (ambiance goes a long way).
