This place has been the surprise dining experience of my time in NM. I mean, the menu read like a typical steakhouse with a few creative twists but nothing that eluded to what was to come. I didn't make a reservation so we went up to the bar and grabbed a seats. I was pleasantly surprised that we had options for the bar menu and the full menu. They weren't big so the expanded options were nice. The bar is lounge like with couches and chairs with low tables. If you plan to eat anything more than finger food you have a couple of options, the bar, or a long bar height table. We ordered almost everything on the small plate menu and some of the appetizers. The surprise of the trip was the food was spectacular. We ordered second rounds and then dessert just to try more. Presentation was excellent, the service in the bar was off the charts good as well. I have a couple more days here in town and may end up here every evening!

This place is neat! It's within walking distance from the Historic Taos Inn, it has a formal dining room downstairs and a bar and lounge area up stairs. It seemed casual however and the decor and ambiance of the place seemed modern yet rustic. We headed upstairs and arranged the armchairs and side tables around so our group could mingle. Our server Megan greeted us, and even helped bring side tables over to accommodate us, she was great! We came late - maybe 45 minutes before the kitchen closed, however we were not rushed at all! We started with the olives and the cheese board- OUTSTANDING. We then ordered the Filet Mignon. WOW! It was delectable- the meat was delicious, the garlic mashed potatoes with crispy onions, and the delicious mole sauce all came together to make the perfect entre. I ate every bite. The service from Megan was top notch - she took care of our large group attentively and offered amazing customer service. Definitely try this place if you're in Taos.

LOVE LOVE LOVE this place! The Treehouse bar & grill is upstairs Lambert's. It's all in the same house, however, Lambert's is only open for Lunch & Dinner downstairs & the Treehouse bar & grill upstairs is only open for their happy hour. Hubby & I wanted to go to Lambert's for lunch but we spent too much time exploring the Colorado Mountain towns & got there too late for lunch. So, we opted for the Treehouse upstairs for happy hour & made reservations for dinner at Lambert's downstairs later on in the evening. The happy hour was simply amazballs. We ordered the fresh made chips & guac, and margaritas they were all freshly made to our request & presented beautifully. We had a couple rounds they were so YUMMY. Our waitress was a complete doll too so we decided to hang out for a while. Then we ordered the warm olives from the happy hour menu. The warm olives are sautéed in garlic, fresh herbs & olive oil served with warm pink peppercorn goat cheese on top. Excellent. They also came with fresh baked Parma crackers. They were so delicious! WOW. I would go back just for the warm olives & fresh baked Parma crackers. Dinner, later on that night at Lambert's was even more spectacular but that is another review ;) Hubby loved the warm olives so much he still hasn't stopped talking about them. In fact we haven't stopped talking about the happy hour or the dinner downstairs at Lambert's. Hubby has even requested his Birthday in a couple weeks be here he liked it so much. And that is perfectly fine with me bc I think l love this place more than him if that is possible. Lol Our fave place in Taos by far. See you in a couple weeks for hubby's birthday! Highly highly recommend.

A delight on our last night in Taos. We had been going out for a margarita early every night before dinner. This was the bar above the fancy Lambert's restaurant. Great atmosphere. Great service. The margaritas were delicious and very reasonably priced. Loved it.

Delicious $6 Margaritas! Great air conditioning in this quaint little hideaway!

Is this an ok place for retired single woman to go for a drink? I'm going to be traveling solo in Taos on an extended stay and looking for safe places with relaxed but not dull atmosphere.?

Yes, it is. I saw a couple of singles there on my last visit.

She even gave us a heads up that she was also handling a 7-top table and made sure we could get our order in before theirs since it was just the two of us. Thought that was really thoughtful and great service. We started with the salsa, queso, guacamole, and a Caesar salad for appetizers and everything was delicious. A great way to kick off the meal. For the main course we both went with the steak fajitas. The steak was a little on the tough side, but overall still really good and heavily seasoned. The portion is generous too. One order could easily be split between two people. It comes with rice, beans, cheese, pico, and three tortillas. The restaurant itself is super charming. It's inside the historic Taos Inn and you can really feel the history in the space. The atmosphere alone makes the experience memorable. Would highly recommend checking out Doc Martin's if you're visiting Taos. Great service, great atmosphere, and a solid meal.

This was a must stop recommended by many people so we were happy to secure a reservation and dine there. Ambiance was nice, we enjoyed the warm lighting and how it was inside an old historic catholic church. Our server was friendly and knowledgeable as well. I will say- the food was decent but it was nothing extravagant or to write home about like others have mentioned in the past. A lot of items on the menu have like one or two ingredients that I feel throw the dish off, so it was difficult deciding what to get there. We ordered the cornbread, mussels, the trout and the bison when we went for dinner. By far my biggest complaint with the whole experience was the fact that it is a cash only establishment, with no ATM even available on the property. You have to drive beforehand to the closest Allsups and withdraw whatever you feel will be the most for the check plus gratuity. This really limits what you can/can't get on the menu depending on how much cash you bring. I personally do not enjoy feeling limited by that or having to do math at the table in my head to make sure I got enough to cover it all. This also makes people look at the menu beforehand maybe online to get a good idea before driving to said gas station. They say on the website it's because "By forgoing transaction fees, we can better support our employees, serve organic food, and boost our local economy." but in reality I believe it's because they do not want to pay credit card fees and whatnot. Their sister restaurant Manzanita (which we also dined at) was not cash only though which was odd if they are related, so something isn't lining up at The Love Apple. We still had the best time with each others company which matters the most celebrating a special occasion, but I'm not sure I'd go out of my way to tell everyone that they gotta go there when they are in Taos.

I pondered if a 2-star rating would be appropriate but he was a lot nicer when I was leaving (he said a firm thanks) and extra stat was added to the whole rating. During my visit in Taos, I had a chance to go to a few different wine places and none of them did "flights". Whereas the other place was generous enough to let me taste more than a handful of their reds this place only gave me one of them (which I didn't care for.) I didn't want to be an entitled customer so I (out of politeness) refrained from asking me for a few more samples. I hence opted out on ordering a full glass for something I might not enjoy as all I could get were the descriptions of several other reds he said. I sure was hungry though so I ordered the mixed green salad and the rotating dessert (some sponge spice cake with date in it.) Both of them (when I ate them later in my hotel room) were okay to decent but I wasn't nowhere near "impressed". Will I go back here when I am in town again? Maybe but I can simply go to the other one I liked more or some vineyards that are 20-30 minutes from the center of Taos. It appears that some other people experienced the same questionable customer service experience (based on their reviews) when I felt "unwelcome" or even "being dismissed" I know that it wasn't personal. Yup, 3-star is good enough for this place for now.
